Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a projection apparatus that enlarges and projects an image of a display element on a screen.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, various liquid crystal projectors, that is, projection apparatuses, that use a display element such as a liquid crystal to project an image formed on the display element onto a screen surface have been proposed. In particular, the projection device is widely used in conferences and presentations as a device that can project an image of a personal computer or the like on a large screen.
In Patent Document 1, a projector for a liquid crystal projector is based on an arrangement of first to sixth lens groups having negative, positive, positive, negative, positive (or negative), and positive refractive power in order from the screen side (front). There has been proposed a 6-group zoom lens which is composed of 6 lens groups as a whole, and performs zooming by appropriately moving a predetermined lens group among them.
In the projection apparatus disclosed in Patent Document 1, the distance from the projection apparatus to the screen varies greatly depending on the size of the room in which the projection apparatus is used, the position of the platform on which the projection apparatus is installed, the size of the screen, and the like. At this time, the focal position is adjusted by moving the entire projection optical system provided in the projection apparatus or a part of the lens group constituting the projection optical system in the optical axis direction.
However, when the focal position is adjusted by moving the entire projection optical system or a part of the lens group constituting the projection optical system in the optical axis direction, aberration occurs on the screen surface, and the contour portion of the projected image becomes There are problems such as distorted and unsightly. In extreme cases, good imaging performance may not be obtained. In particular, when the distance from the projection device to the screen is reduced, the field curvature is increased, and the imaging performance around the screen is remarkably deteriorated.
It is an object of the present invention to provide a projection apparatus that can maintain good imaging performance with little curvature of field even when the distance between the projection apparatus and a screen changes greatly, especially at a short distance.
A projection device according to a first aspect includes a display element that displays an image, a projection optical system that satisfies a condition of f × θ <h <f × tan θ, and that projects an image displayed on the display element on a screen, and a projection And an image output unit that outputs a rotationally symmetric distortion image about the optical axis of the projection optical system to the display element so as to cancel the distortion generated in the optical system. Where f: focal length of the projection optical system, h: distance from the optical axis of the projection optical system to an arbitrary point on the display element surface, θ: optical axis of the projection optical system and after emission from the projection optical system to the screen The angle formed by the principal ray.
The present invention provides a projection apparatus that can maintain good imaging performance with little curvature of field even when the distance between the projection apparatus and the screen changes greatly.
<Configuration of Projection Device 100>
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram for explaining the projection device 100. A projection apparatus 100 shown in FIG. 1A includes a projection optical system 10, an image output unit 11, and a display element 12. In FIG. 1, the direction of the optical axis LK of the projection optical system 10 is described as a Z-axis direction, and a plane perpendicular to the Z-axis direction is described as a YX plane. Further, for ease of explanation, the screen 13 is provided on the XY plane on the Z side of the projection optical system 10, but is not included in the projection apparatus 100.
In FIG. 1A, a projection optical system 10 is composed of a plurality of projection lenses, and even if the distance between the projection device 100 and the screen 13 changes greatly, the projection optical system can maintain good imaging performance with little curvature of field. It is a system. Details of the projection optical system 10 will be described later. The image output unit 11 outputs a certain distorted image. The display element 12 is an element that displays an image, such as a liquid crystal panel or an organic EL element.
The operation of the projection apparatus 100 shown in FIG. 1A will be described with reference to FIG. For example, an image displayed on the screen 13 is input from outside the projection apparatus 100. For example, a 3 × 3 square image signal E11 is input to the image output unit 11 from the outside. The image output unit 11 converts the image signal E11 into a 3 × 3 image signal E12 that is distorted into a tall shape (minus distortion). The 3 × 3 image signal E12 distorted in the tall shape is sent to the display element 12, and the display element 12 displays the 3 × 3 image signal E12 distorted in the tall shape. The displayed 3 × 3 image V12 distorted into the tall shape is incident on the projection optical system 10. Thereafter, the image distorted into the barrel shape is projected onto the screen 13 by the projection optical system 10 as an original 3 × 3 square-shaped image V13.
The distance W from the projection optical system 10 to the screen 13 varies greatly depending on the size of the screen. The projection optical system 10 moves in the Z-axis direction according to the distance W, and the focal position is adjusted. Thus, even if the distance W from the projection optical system 10 to the screen 13 changes, the projection optical system 10 projects the 3 × 3 image V12 distorted into a tall shape as a 3 × 3 square-shaped image V13. To do.
Hereinafter, the projection optical system 10 shown in FIG. 1 will be described in detail.
The projection optical system 10 is a projection optical system that can maintain good imaging performance with little curvature of field even when the distance W between the projection apparatus 100 and the screen 13 changes greatly. The projection optical system 10 responds by projecting within the range of the formula (1) so as to suppress the change in aberration even if the object point distance changes.
Here, h is the distance from the optical axis LK of the projection optical system 10 to an arbitrary point on the screen 13, and in the XY coordinates of FIG. 1, the relationship is h = √X 2 + Y 2 . f is the focal length of the projection optical system 10, and θ is the angle formed by the principal ray with respect to the optical axis LK on the screen 13 side.
Therefore, by incorporating the projection optical system 10 that satisfies the condition of the formula (1) into the projection apparatus 100, it is possible to always maintain good aberration even when the distance W from the projection optical system 10 to the screen 13 changes. .
First, the projection relationship of the projection optical system 10 is expressed by Equation (2).
Differentiating both sides of Equation (2) gives Equation (3).
Here, a is the radius of the stop. The fact that the curvature of field does not occur even when the object moves in the optical axis direction means that the movement of the paraxial image point position due to the object movement coincides with the movement of the memorial image point off the axis. More specifically, the object image plane in which the image point 111 for the object point 110 outside the optical axis LK of the object plane 103 is a plane on which the image point 121 for the object point 120 on the optical axis LK of the object plane 103 exists. 104 may be present.
When Expression (12) is integrated, Expression (13) is obtained.
Here, F is the first kind elliptic integral.
From the above, the function g was obtained as the mathematical formula (13), and the result represented approximately by the mathematical formula (15) was obtained. In other words, if the projection optical system 10 is designed so as to have a projection relationship obtained by substituting such a function g into Equation (2), an optical system free from curvature of field in any plane on the image side is realized. can do.
Comparing Expression (15) with Expression (16) and Expression (17), it can be seen that the projection relationship of the projection optical system 10 is a projection relationship between the projection relationship of the ftan θ lens and the projection relationship of the fθ lens. If a constant negative distortion is given in this range, the projection optical system 10 can be realized with very little field curvature in any plane on the image side.
<Outline of Image Output Unit 11>
Next, the correction amount (distortion amount) for the image output unit 11 to correct an image input from the outside to the image output unit 11 into an image distorted into a barrel shape will be described with reference to FIG.
FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining a correction amount that the image output unit 11 corrects to an image distorted into a barrel shape.
In FIG. 3, for example, a square-shaped image signal E <b> 11 is input to the image output unit 11 from the outside. Then, the image output unit 11 outputs an image signal E12 having a shape having a tall distortion indicated by a dotted line. As shown in FIG. 3, the pixel point A of the image signal E <b> 11 becomes an image signal E <b> 12 that is distorted by the image output unit 11 and corrected to the pixel point B. Here, the distance from the pixel point A of the image signal E11 to the optical axis LK is h A, the distance from the pixel point B of the image signal E12 to the optical axis LK is h B. The correction amount Δh by the image output unit 11 is Δh = (h A −h B ).
The projection optical system 10 shown in FIG. 1 satisfies the condition of Expression (1). The ftan θ lens, which is the right side of Equation (1), satisfies the condition of Equation (16) described above. The fθ lens that is the left side of Expression (1) satisfies the condition of Expression (17) described above. Since the projection optical system 10 has distortion within that range, the extreme value of the correction amount Δh by the image output unit 11 is expressed by [Expression (17) −Expression (16)]. That is, the range of the correction amount Δh by the image output unit 11 is as shown by the formula (18).
The concept of the projection apparatus 100 and the projection optical system 10 used therefor has been described above. Hereinafter, a specific example of the projection optical system 10 (10A to 10C) will be described (first embodiment).
FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram of the first projection device 100A of the first embodiment. The first projection device 100A includes a first projection optical system 10A, an image output unit 11, and a display element 12. Hereinafter, the first projection optical system 10A will be described with reference to the drawings.
<Configuration of First Projection Optical System 10A>
The first projection optical system 10A shown in FIG. 4 generates a negative distortion so that the projection relationship generally satisfies the above formula (13) or the approximate formula (15). It is.
The first projection optical system 10A includes five lenses. More specifically, the first projection optical system 10A has a concave meniscus lens L11 having a convex surface directed toward the screen 13 sequentially from the screen 13 side along the Z-axis direction, a biconvex lens L12, and a concave meniscus lens L13 having a convex surface directed toward the screen 13. And a biconvex lens L15, and a biconvex lens L15.
In the first embodiment, the first projection optical system 10A is a projection optical system that satisfies Equation (13) or Equation (15) described above, and the distance between the first projection device 100A and the screen 13 changes greatly. However, it is possible to maintain good imaging performance with little curvature of field.

here,

In the first embodiment, the focal length is 12.0, the F number is 2.8, the field angle is 45.4 °, and the image height is 4.8.
さらに、空間周波数60本/mmに対するd線単色MTF(Modulation Transfer Function、レスポンス関数)を図6に示す。 FIG. 5 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at an infinite position in the first embodiment, that is, when W1 is infinite. Furthermore, FIG. 6 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF (Modulation Transfer Function, response function) for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. As shown in FIG. 6, the MTF curves for the respective image heights are almost overlapped, and the field curvature is well corrected.
FIG. 7 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at a position 500 mm from the tip of the first projection device 100A, that is, when W1 is 500 mm. Further, FIG. 8 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. It can be seen that the curvature of field hardly changes compared to the case where the screen 13 is at infinity.
On the other hand, the first projection optical system 10A generates a large amount of negative distortion. Therefore, the image output unit 11 applies a correction amount Δh to the image signal E11 input from the outside. Then, the image signal E12 to which a negative distortion is given is sent to the display element 12. The display element 12 displays the image signal E12 to which negative distortion is given. The displayed image passes through the first projection optical system 10 </ b> A and is projected on the screen 13 as an image in which distortion is canceled.
(Second Embodiment)
FIG. 9 is a schematic diagram of the second projection device 100B of the second embodiment. The second projection device 100B includes a second projection optical system 10B, an image output unit 11, and a display element 12. Hereinafter, the second projection optical system 10B will be described with reference to the drawings.
<Configuration of Second Projection Optical System 10B>
The second projection optical system 10B of the second embodiment generates a negative distortion, and its projection relationship exceeds Expression (13) or Expression (15) and gives a distortion aberration close to Expression (17). It is a system. Even in the second projection optical system 10B, even if the distance between the second projection device 100B and the screen 13 changes greatly, the image surface curvature is small and good imaging performance can be maintained.
As shown in FIG. 9, the second projection optical system 10B is composed of five projection lenses. More specifically, the second projection optical system 10B is formed on the concave meniscus lens L21 having a convex surface directed toward the screen 13 sequentially along the Z-axis direction from the screen 13 side, the convex meniscus lens L22 having a convex surface directed on the screen 13, and the screen 13. The lens includes a cemented lens L26 of a concave meniscus lens L23 having a convex surface and a biconvex lens L24, and a biconvex lens L25.
Here, R, D, nd, and νd indicate the same specifications as in the first embodiment.
In the second embodiment, the focal length is 12.0, the F number is 2.8, the field angle is 45.7 °, and the image height is 4.8.
FIG. 10 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at an infinite position in the second embodiment, that is, when W2 is infinite. Further, FIG. 11 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. As shown in FIG. 11, the MTF curves for the respective image heights are almost overlapped, and the field curvature is corrected well.
FIG. 12 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at a position 500 mm from the tip of the second projection device 100B, that is, when W2 is 500 mm. Further, FIG. 13 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. It can be seen that the curvature of field hardly changes compared to the case where the screen 13 is at infinity.
On the other hand, the second projection optical system 10B also generates a large amount of negative distortion. Therefore, the image output unit 11 applies a correction amount Δh to the image signal E11 input from the outside. Then, the image signal E12 to which a negative distortion is given is sent to the display element 12. The display element 12 displays the image signal E12 to which negative distortion is given. The displayed image passes through the second projection optical system 10B and is projected on the screen 13 as an image in which distortion is canceled.
(Third embodiment)
FIG. 14 is a schematic diagram of a third projection device 100C of the third embodiment. The third projection device 100C includes a third projection optical system 10C, an image output unit 11, and a display element 12. Hereinafter, the third projection optical system 10C will be described with reference to the drawings.
<Configuration of Third Projection Optical System 10C>
In the third embodiment, the third projection optical system 10C generates a negative distortion, the projection relationship is smaller than Expression (13) or Expression (15), and the projection gives distortion similar to Expression (17). It is an optical system. Even if the distance between the third projection optical system 10 </ b> C and the screen 13 changes greatly, the image surface curvature is small and good imaging performance can be maintained.
As shown in FIG. 14, the third projection optical system 10C is composed of five projection lenses. More specifically, the third projection optical system 10C includes a concave meniscus lens L31 having a convex surface directed toward the screen 13 sequentially from the screen 13 side along the Z-axis direction, a biconvex lens L32, and a concave meniscus lens L33 having a convex surface directed toward the screen 13. And a biconvex lens L34, and a biconvex lens L35.
Here, R, D, nd, and νd indicate the same specifications as in the first embodiment.
In the third embodiment, the focal length is 12.0, the F number is 2.8, the field angle is 44.2 °, and the image height is 4.8.
FIG. 15 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at an infinite position, that is, when W3 is infinite, as an extreme example in the third embodiment. Further, FIG. 16 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. As shown in FIG. 16, the MTF curves for the respective image heights are generally overlapped, and the field curvature is corrected well.
FIG. 17 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at a position 500 mm from the tip of the third projection device 100C, that is, when W3 is 500 mm. Further, FIG. 18 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. Compared to the case where the screen 13 is at infinity, it can be seen that the curvature of field moves to the plus side compared to when the distortion is set to the optimum value. However, since the field curvature is not so large, it is a range that can be used as a projection optical system.
The third projection optical system 10C generates a negative distortion although it is small. Therefore, the image output unit 11 applies a correction amount Δh to the image signal E11 input from the outside. Then, the image signal E12 to which a negative distortion is given is sent to the display element 12. The display element 12 displays the image signal E12 to which negative distortion is given. The displayed image passes through the third projection optical system 10 </ b> C and is projected onto the screen 13 as an image in which distortion has been canceled.
(Comparative example)
In general, the pincushion type distortion aberration in which the peripheral part is enlarged and the four corners are sharp is conspicuous, and it is easy to give disgust to the viewer. If anything, Tal-shaped distortion aberrations in which the peripheral part is reduced and the four corners are rounded are less disgusting to the viewer.
FIG. 19 is a schematic diagram of a fourth projection apparatus 100D of the comparative example. The fourth projection device 100D includes a fourth projection optical system 10D, an image output unit 11, and a display element 12. Hereinafter, the fourth projection optical system 10D will be described with reference to the drawings.
<Configuration of Fourth Projection Optical System 10D>
As shown in FIG. 19, the fourth projection optical system 10D is composed of five lenses, and is not a pincushion type distortion aberration that tends to give an aversion to the viewer. Distortion aberration is given to the projection optical system so that an image having distortion aberration is obtained. More specifically, the fourth projection optical system 10D includes a concave meniscus lens L41, a biconvex lens L42, and a cemented lens of the biconcave lens L43 and the biconvex lens L44 having a convex surface directed toward the screen 13 sequentially from the screen 13 side along the Z-axis direction. L46 and a biconvex lens L45.
Here, R, D, nd, and νd indicate the same specifications as in the first embodiment.
In the comparative example, the focal length is 12.0, the F number is 2.8, the angle of view is 43.3 °, and the image height is 4.8.
FIG. 20 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at an infinite position in the comparative example, that is, when W4 is infinite. Further, FIG. 21 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. As shown in FIG. 21, the MTF curves for the respective image heights are generally overlapped, and the field curvature is well corrected.
FIG. 22 shows astigmatism and distortion when the screen 13 is held at a position 500 mm from the tip of the fourth projection device 100D, that is, when W4 is 500 mm. Further, FIG. 23 shows a d-line monochromatic MTF for a spatial frequency of 60 lines / mm. The MTF curves for the respective image heights hardly overlap each other, and the field curvature is very large. Therefore, there is no plane that gives good imaging performance from the center to the periphery of the screen 13. That is, the first projection optical system 10A to the third projection optical system 10C shown in the first to third embodiments are different from each projection optical system and the screen in comparison with the fourth projection optical system 10D of the comparative example. Even if the distance changes greatly, there is little field curvature and good imaging performance can be maintained.
