即ち、上記課題を解決するため、本発明は以下の(1)の方法を採用する。
(1)木質バイオマスを前処理した後、前処理をしたバイオマスを酵素糖化及びエタノール発酵する第一糖化発酵工程、第一糖化発酵工程より得られた糖化発酵液を液体と残渣に分離する固液分離工程、固液分離工程から得られ残渣をアルカリ金属またはアルカリ土類金属の水酸化物、硫化物、炭酸塩または亜硫酸塩から選択された1種以上の薬品の水溶液に浸漬させてアルカリ処理するアルカリ処理工程該アルカリ処理した残渣を磨砕処理する機械処理工程該機械処理で得られた残渣を第一糖化発酵工程に返送することを特徴とする木質バイオマスからのエタノール製造方法。
