Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an optical amplifier, a laser device, and a light source device that amplify input signal light according to excitation light and output the amplified signal light.
The use of ultraviolet light has been promoted in fields such as an exposure apparatus for forming a fine structure in a semiconductor device, a laser microscope for observing the fine structure, and a medical apparatus used for ophthalmic treatment. Gas lasers such as KrF excimer lasers, ArF excimer lasers, and F 2 lasers have been conventionally used as light source devices for ultraviolet light output used in these devices. In recent years, laser light in the infrared to visible region generated by a laser light generator such as a semiconductor laser is amplified by an optical amplifier such as an optical fiber amplifier, and this is wavelength-converted by a wavelength conversion optical system to convert ultraviolet light. An all-solid-state light source device for output has been developed and put into practical use (for example, see Patent Document 1).
In the light source device as described above, in order to efficiently generate ultraviolet light, an optical amplifier composed of a plurality of optical fiber amplifiers is used in the laser device. A
In this
Incidentally, the
FIG. 4 shows a schematic configuration of a
The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and has a configuration capable of efficiently amplifying signal light while maintaining a polarization state to generate high-power fundamental laser light. An object is to provide an optical amplifier, a laser device, and a light source device.
According to a first aspect illustrating the present invention, an optical amplifier that amplifies and outputs each of input first and second signal lights according to pumping light while maintaining a polarization state, The excitation light source for generating the excitation light, the first signal light and the excitation light are input, the first signal light and the light of one polarization component of the excitation light are combined, and the first signal light is polarized. Optical amplifier is characterized in that a second polarization maintaining optical amplifying medium for amplifying and outputting a second signal light while maintaining the state is provided. The optical multiplexer preferably includes a melt-type polarization maintaining WDM coupler configured by melting and stretching two optical fibers. A configuration in which the polarization maintaining optical amplifying medium is a polarization maintaining optical fiber to which a rare earth element is added is also a preferable aspect.
According to a second aspect of the present invention, the laser light generator includes the laser light generator that generates the first and second signal lights, which are single-wavelength pulse lights, and any one of the optical amplifiers described above. There is provided a laser apparatus characterized in that the first and second signal lights generated by the generating section are amplified by an optical amplifier and output respectively.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, the laser device includes the laser device having the above-described configuration, and a wavelength conversion unit that converts infrared to visible light emitted from the laser device into ultraviolet light. There is provided a light source device characterized in that the light emitted from the light is converted into ultraviolet light by a wavelength converter and output.
According to the present invention, an optical amplifier and a laser having a configuration capable of efficiently amplifying signal light by effectively using pumping light while maintaining the plane of polarization, and thereby achieving high output of the laser. An apparatus and a light source device can be provided.
Hereinafter, embodiments for carrying out the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. A schematic configuration of a light source device to which the present invention is applied is shown in FIG.
The
Here, as the specific configurations of the
The
As the
The
The excitation
A cross-sectional view of the polarization maintaining optical fibers (PMFs) 32 and 33 is shown in FIG. 2, and a PANDA type fiber is exemplified in this embodiment. The polarization maintaining
The polarization-maintaining
At this time, the
Accordingly, in order to correct such a problem, in the present embodiment, the output port D of the
As a result, the first signal light Ls 1 output from the
The
When excitation light enters the
The signal light amplified by stimulated emission in the
As described above, in the
The
As described above, there are various known configurations for the configuration (type and combination of wavelength conversion optical elements) of the
First, the second fundamental laser beam Lr 2 is focused and incident on the wavelength conversion
The fundamental wave and the second harmonic wave emitted from the wavelength conversion
On the other hand, the first fundamental laser beam Lr 1 is focused and incident on the wavelength conversion
Further, the second harmonic and the third harmonic emitted from the wavelength conversion
These wavelength conversion
The fifth harmonic wave emitted from the wavelength conversion
The fundamental wave, the second harmonic wave, and the fifth harmonic wave synthesized on the same axis as described above are incident on the wavelength conversion
These lights are incident on the wavelength conversion
In this way, the fundamental wave laser light (Lr 1 , Lr 2 ) having a wavelength of 1.547 [μm] output from the
As described above, according to the
Although the preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described so far, the present invention is not limited to this embodiment. For example, the wavelength of the ultraviolet light Lv from the
In the above-described embodiment, the optical amplification fiber has been described by exemplifying the polarization maintaining type erbium-doped optical fiber (PM-EDF) configured by adding erbium to the core portion.
