Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light source estimation apparatus and a light source estimation method for estimating a spectral distribution of a light source from a captured image.
A multiband camera that can restore a spectral waveform to be imaged with sufficient accuracy for practical use is known. A multiband camera generally uses four or more types of filters, and a camera that acquires multiband information in one shot by using a special 6-band filter array and demosaic has been put into practical use. Such a multiband camera is used for accurately predicting the spectral reflectance of an object based on the captured multiband image.
Since the multiband information actually obtained by the multiband camera is the spectral radiance, it is necessary to separate the spectral radiance into the spectral distribution of the light source and the spectral reflectance data of the object. Therefore, conventionally, the spectral reflectance of an object has been estimated by the following method.
First, prior to performing the main shooting, a subject with a known spectral reflectance is put in the scene, and the multiband information obtained by the shooting is divided by the spectral reflectance of the subject. Obtain spectral distribution data of the light source. In the actual photographing, the obtained multiband information is divided by the spectral distribution data of the light source to obtain the spectral reflectance of the photographed subject. It is also possible to obtain the spectral distribution of the light source at the time of photographing with a measuring instrument or the like and obtain the spectral reflectance of the subject based on this measurement data.
As described above, as a method for estimating the spectral distribution of a subject by multiband imaging using a light source having a known spectral distribution, a method described in Patent Document 1 is known. In this method, a liquid crystal tunable filter and a probe light source having a known spectral distribution are used. That is, the spectral distribution of the subject is estimated by dividing the difference between the multiband information irradiated with the probe light source and the illumination light source and the multiband information irradiated only with the illumination light source by the spectral distribution of the probe light.
As described above, in the conventional multiband imaging, the spectral distribution of the light source is used when estimating the spectral reflectance of the subject.
However, according to the spectral distribution estimation method disclosed in Patent Document 1, it is necessary to perform imaging for each probe light source, and imaging is required up to 16 times. For this reason, in shooting a moving subject, the position of the subject is shifted, so that accurate multiband information cannot be acquired. In addition, accurate multiband information cannot be acquired even when the illumination conditions fluctuate within the photographing time. Furthermore, when the number of imaging bands is reduced to reduce the number of times of imaging, the spectral reflectance estimation accuracy is significantly reduced. Further, since a predetermined time is required until the liquid crystal tunable filter to be used and the probe light of each wavelength are stabilized, it cannot be easily operated by a general user who is not familiar with these devices.
As described above, it is difficult for a general user to prepare and operate a measuring instrument for measuring the spectral distribution of a light source when photographing with a multi-band camera. It is also difficult to shoot. In such a case, since the spectral distribution of the light source cannot be obtained, the spectral information of the subject cannot be estimated. Therefore, there is a need for a technique that enables even general users who are not familiar with the handling of measuring instruments to acquire the spectral distribution of the light source.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problem, and an object of the present invention is to provide a light source estimation device and a light source estimation method that can easily obtain a spectral distribution of a light source with respect to a subject.

Light Source Estimation Process The light source estimation process in the above configuration will be described using the flowchart of FIG. First, in S201, the type of the
In step S204, multiband image difference calculation processing is performed. That is, the image difference calculation unit 111 obtains a difference (multiband image difference Dp) between the strobe pixel value Ps_n photographed in S202 and the under-illumination pixel value Px_n photographed in S203 by the following equation (1).

Ds_i=Σ(Is_n−Ii_n) ・・・(2)

Spectral Distribution Difference Calculation Processing Hereinafter, the calculation processing of the spectral distribution difference Ds_i, which is the difference between the spectral distribution Is_n of the
First, in S301, the variable i representing the light source number held in the
Is_n=Σ{Ls(λ)×Tn(λ)} ・・・(3)
Is_n = Σ {Ls (λ) × Tn (λ)} (3)
Next, in S303, the integral value (6-band integral value) in the entire wavelength region of the product of the spectral distribution Li (λ) of the light source i and the filter characteristic Tn (λ) is obtained from the following equation (4) as the spectral distribution of the light source i. ) Is calculated. The spectral distribution Li (λ) of the light source i is stored in the
Ii_n=Σ{Li(λ)×Tn(λ)} ・・・(4)
Ii_n = Σ {Li (λ) × Tn (λ)} (4)
Next, in S304, the difference Ds_i (6-band difference) between the integral value Is_n obtained in S302 and the integral value Ii_n obtained in S303 is calculated by the above equation (2) and stored in the memory.
In step S305, it is determined whether or not processing has been performed for all light sources in the
Light Source Comparison Processing Hereinafter, the light source comparison processing based on the multiband image difference Dp and the spectral distribution difference Ds_i in S206 will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
First, in S501, 1 is set to a variable i representing a light source number held in the
Pi=Dp−Ds_i ・・・(5)
Pi = Dp−Ds_i (5)
Next, in S503, if the difference evaluation value Pi is smaller than MIN, the process proceeds to S504, where the value of MIN is replaced with the difference evaluation value Pi, and the light source ID at this time, that is, the ID of the light source corresponding to the variable i in the
When the process shown in the flowchart of FIG. 6 ends, the light source ID corresponding to the minimum difference evaluation value Pi finally set in S504 is selected as the
As described above, in this embodiment, the degree of coincidence (norm) of the multiband image difference Dp that is a difference with respect to a known strobe light source and the spectral distribution difference Ds_i that is also a difference with respect to a known strobe light source are verified. Then, the light source having the highest coincidence in the
As described above, according to the present embodiment, the spectral distribution of the illumination light source is estimated on the basis of the degree of coincidence between the actual multiband imaging information using the strobe light and the illumination light and the known spectral distribution of the strobe and the predetermined light source. . Thereby, the spectral distribution of the illumination light source can be estimated without photographing a subject having a known reflectance or performing spectral distribution measurement with a measuring instrument.
Furthermore, since the spectral distribution database having various light source information is referred to, it is possible to perform highly accurate estimation for various light sources, and it is possible to take one to several times without imaging at all wavelengths. Thus, the spectral distribution of illumination can be easily estimated.
In the present embodiment, an example of using a 6-band difference norm as the degree of coincidence has been shown, but it is also possible to use a color difference calculated from 6 bands instead of this difference. Furthermore, various evaluation values such as a difference evaluation value composed of a combination of a difference norm of 6 bands and a color difference calculated from the 6 bands can be used.
In addition, for the strobe light source in the database, an example is shown in which the spectral distribution is stored for each model. However, it is also possible to store the spectral distribution based on the measured value for each strobe individual in consideration of individual differences. It is also effective to update the spectral distribution information in consideration of changes over time.
Second Embodiment
Hereinafter, a second embodiment according to the present invention will be described. In the first embodiment described above, an example is shown in which the spectral distribution is estimated on the assumption that the illumination is a single light source. However, in the second embodiment, a plurality of light sources, that is, a mixed light source (hereinafter, MIX light source) is further illustrated. An example in which the spectral distribution of can be estimated is shown. Below, only a different part from 1st Embodiment is demonstrated especially.

In the second embodiment, in step S707, the MIX light source

Virtual MIX Light Source Comparison Processing Hereinafter, the virtual MIX light source comparison processing in S708 will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. First, in step S <b> 801, the MIX light source spectral
Imix_j_n=Σ{(α×k×Li1(λ)+β×(1-k)×Li2(λ))×Tn(λ)} ・・・(6)
Imix_j_n = Σ {(α × k × Li1 (λ) + β × (1-k) × Li2 (λ)) × Tn (λ)} (6)
In step S802, the spectral distribution
Ds_j=Σ(Is_n−Imix_j_n) ・・・(7)
Ds_j = Σ (Is_n−Imix_j_n) (7)
In step S803, the
As described above, according to the second embodiment, the spectral distribution of the illumination light source can be estimated based on the actual photographing information by the strobe light and the illumination light and the spectral distribution of the strobe and the virtual MIX light source. As a result, even when sufficient estimation cannot be performed from the predetermined light source stored in the database, it is possible to estimate the virtual MIX light composed of the combination, and therefore more detailed estimation can be performed.
In the second embodiment, an example in which MIX light source estimation is performed when the difference coincidence does not satisfy a predetermined level has been described. However, there are light sources having the same best coincidence for two or more types of light sources. In this case, the MIX light source estimation process may be performed.
Moreover, although the example which produces | generates virtual MIX light from the combination of all the light sources in a database was shown, processing time is limited by producing | generating virtual MIX light only in the light source with the highest coincidence, and a 2nd highest light source. Can be shortened.
