Description
The present invention relates to a driver circuit for driving an overlapped touch panel and a display panel, and relates to a technique effective when applied to, for example, a semiconductor device that drives and controls a liquid crystal display with a touch sensor function of a portable terminal.
In recent years, liquid crystal displays are mounted on battery-operated information devices and mobile phones. These displays tend to be equipped with touch panel functions and are increasing year by year. There are several types of touch panels, and typically, a resistance type, a capacitance type, an in-cell type (MOS sensor type), etc. are representative. The touch panel has a mechanism for detecting contact on the display panel or on the side of the display pixel of the display panel. Most of these devices notify the touch panel controller of the state as an electric signal, and are greatly affected by the signal change of the liquid crystal display unit that is also driven by the electric signal. One of the effects is radiation noise emitted from the liquid crystal display, and the operation of the common electrode and drain line in the display causes cross coupling noise in the detection signal of the touch panel. The following patent document describes a technique for countering these noises.
In
In the method of

1. First, an outline of a typical embodiment of the invention disclosed in the present application will be described. Reference numerals in the drawings referred to in parentheses in the outline description of the representative embodiments merely exemplify what are included in the concept of the components to which the reference numerals are attached.
[1] A driver circuit (101, 101A) according to a typical embodiment of the present invention is a circuit for driving a touch panel (102) and a display panel (103), and is synchronized with a display timing signal (117). And a display drive controller (113, 114, 115) for driving and controlling the display panel, and touch panel drive control for operating the touch panel in synchronization with the display timing signal and obtaining detection data in synchronization with the detection timing signal (119). The correction data table (109) for outputting the correction data corresponding to the detection timing by the detection timing signal in synchronization with the display timing signal, and the detection using the correction data read from the correction data table. And a correction circuit (130, 131) for correcting data. For example, the touch panel drive control unit operates the touch panel in synchronization with the display timing signal, and obtains detection data (122) at a voltage level that changes according to the time constant of the touch panel in synchronization with the detection timing signal.
The touch panel is operated in synchronization with the display timing, and the control is performed so as to cancel out the noise component generated by the touch panel. Therefore, the control is simple and the deterioration of the detection accuracy of the touch panel is surely suppressed by the influence of the display panel drive signal. can do.
Further, if correction data corresponding to the touch panel and display panel driven by the driver circuit is stored in the correction data table, various touch panels and display panels can be easily handled.
[2] In the driver circuit according to
Detection data is acquired in synchronization with the detection timing signal from the touch panel operated in synchronization with the display timing. Correction data for canceling noise superimposed on the detection timing is obtained from the display timing based on the display timing signal. Since the interval up to the detection timing by the detection timing signal is considered as an address offset and is read from the correction data table, it is not required to directly grasp the interval and prepare correction data pinpoint.

[10] A driver circuit according to another embodiment of the present invention is a driver circuit for driving a touch panel and a display panel, the display drive control unit for driving and controlling the display panel in synchronization with a display timing signal, A touch panel drive controller that operates the touch panel in synchronization with a display timing signal and obtains detection data in synchronization with the detection timing signal, and correction data corresponding to the detection timing by the detection timing signal in synchronization with the display timing signal A correction data table to be output, a correction circuit that corrects the detection data using the correction data read from the correction data table, and a correction data generation unit (1301) that generates correction data to be stored in the correction data table And having. As a result, correction data corresponding to the characteristics of the touch panel and display panel to be controlled can be acquired autonomously, so that it is possible to easily handle any type of touch panel and display panel.
[11] In the driver circuit according to item 10, for example, the correction data generation unit operates the touch panel drive control unit in an inactive state of the display drive control unit in response to an instruction for a calibration operation, and performs first detection. The data (122F) is acquired, and then the operation of acquiring the detection data by operating the touch panel drive control unit in the active state of the display drive control unit is performed at a predetermined timing synchronized with the display timing signal. Detection data (122A) is obtained, correction data is generated based on the difference between the first detection data and each of the second detection data, and the correction data is associated with the predetermined timing to perform the correction. The correction data generation process stored in the data table is repeated a plurality of times while changing the predetermined timing.
[12] In the driver circuit of item 11, the correction data generation unit generates the correction data by averaging differences between the first detection data and the respective second detection data. Correction data generation errors can be reduced.
[13] The driver circuit according to
[14] In the driver circuit according to any one of [10] to [13], for example, the correction data table includes correction data in consideration of an interval from a display timing based on the display timing signal to a detection timing based on the detection timing signal as an address offset. Is output in synchronization with the display timing signal.
[15] A driver circuit according to still another embodiment of the present invention is a driver circuit that drives a touch panel and a display panel, and a display drive control unit that drives and controls the display panel in synchronization with a display timing signal; A touch panel drive control unit that operates the touch panel in synchronization with the display timing signal to obtain detection data of a time that changes in accordance with a time constant of the touch panel in synchronization with the display timing, and corresponds to a timing by the detection timing signal A correction data table (109A) for outputting correction data (120A) in synchronization with the timing signal, and a correction circuit (1201) for correcting the detection data (122B) using the correction data read from the correction data table. 1203, 1204). The correction circuit multiplies the detection data by a reciprocal of a resistance value that determines the predetermined time constant and a ratio data calculated using the correction data as a parameter in consideration of an attenuation rate determined by the time constant. I do. Even in a format in which the time varying according to the time constant of the touch panel is measured as detection data, the touch panel is operated in synchronization with the display timing, and control is performed so as to cancel the noise component generated thereby, so the control is simple. Thus, it is possible to reliably suppress a decrease in detection accuracy of the touch panel due to the influence of the display panel drive signal. Further, if correction data corresponding to the touch panel and display panel driven by the driver circuit is stored in the correction data table, various touch panels and display panels can be easily handled.

FIG. 1 illustrates a driver LSI which is an embodiment of a driver circuit according to the present invention. The
The
The
The
The
The
The coordinate
The liquid

In the following, based on the above description, the touch detection method of the touch panel will be specifically exemplified to explain the cause of noise superposition and the noise pattern.
FIG. 2 illustrates one contact detection method of the
The following detection operation with the above configuration is performed. First, the
FIG. 3 shows a timing chart of the detection operation according to the configuration of FIG.
FIG. 4 illustrates the relationship between the contact detection circuit described in FIG. 2 and the liquid

FIG. 7 illustrates another relationship between the touch detection circuit described in FIG. 2 and the liquid
As illustrated in FIG. 7, the

<<
FIG. 11 illustrates a
The noise
FIG. 12 shows a specific example of the noise
The
When the adjustment mode is instructed, the
As described above, when the first detection data is generated in the first operation of the adjustment mode, the touch panel is activated without performing the liquid crystal display, the touch sense is performed, and thereafter, the liquid crystal display is performed, and the touch sense timing is generated. The sense touch panel is activated while sequentially shifting and the
At the same time, the calculation result is transmitted to the standard
The overall operation of the noise

In the third embodiment, FIG. 2 illustrates a driver LSI applied to a capacitance detection method that detects, as detection data, a change in time corresponding to a change in time constant when the touch panel is touched as a sense method using the

FIG. 19 illustrates a configuration of the driver LSI 101B that can cancel the influence of the noise described in FIG. 17 and FIG. 1 is different from the
The correction circuit takes the correction data (data read from the noise cancellation pattern table 109A) 120A in consideration of the reciprocal 1 / R of the resistance value R that determines the predetermined time constant and the attenuation rate determined by the time constant. Correction is performed by multiplying the
Vout = Vin(1 - e^(t/RC))
t = RC log(1 - Vout/Vin)
The significance of the correction of the correction circuit will be further described. First, when a charge is charged in a capacitor, the equation for changing the voltage Vout of the capacitor is
Vout = Vin (1-e ^ (t / RC))
It can be expressed as. In the above, ^ means power and Vin means DC power supply voltage. If this is organized by time t,
t = RC log (1-Vout / Vin)
It becomes. The expression of the log part is 1 when Vout = 0.63Vin, and t = RC. This corresponds to setting the voltage Vout detected by the
t = RC log ((1 - Vout/Vin)/a)
= RC (log(1 - Vout/Vin) - log(a))
となる。上記条件より、log(1 - Vout/Vin) =1で、
t = RC (1 - log(a))
C = t * 1/R * 1/(1 - log(a))
Here, when considering that noise is superimposed on the voltage, when correcting to the correct time with the noise correction coefficient a,
t = RC log ((1-Vout / Vin) / a)
= RC (log (1-Vout / Vin)-log (a))
It becomes. From the above conditions, log (1-Vout / Vin) = 1,
t = RC (1-log (a))
It becomes. If this is organized in C,
C = t * 1 / R * 1 / (1-log (a))
It becomes. This is an expression that simply represents the relationship between the decay time due to the time constant and C, and is a relational expression that correlates the change in the detected capacitance value by the touch sensor and the output width of the
As a result, the amount of noise superimposition can be predicted in the same manner as described above by processing the touch panel data in synchronization with the driving timing of the liquid crystal display panel even when a capacity detection method for detecting a change in time as detection data is adopted.
