Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an antenna device that receives a magnetic field transmitted from a transmitter and is inductively coupled with the transmitter to enable communication.
RFID(Radio Frequency Identification)用のアンテナモジュールとして、次のような数種類のものが従来から用いられている。 The following several types of antenna modules for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) have been conventionally used. First, there is an antenna module in which a coil pattern is created on a plane using an FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) or a rigid substrate. Secondly, there is an antenna module in which a coil is formed by winding a round wire. Third, there is an antenna module in which an FPC, FFC (Flexible Flat Cable) or the like is used as a harness, and the harness is formed in a ring shape to form a coil.
The above-described antenna module is appropriately selected by a design that takes into account the arrangement and shape of components, and is used by being incorporated in an electronic device.
When an antenna module is placed in an electronic device, it is made of ferrite with a relatively high permeability and low loss factor so as not to be affected by the metal used in the metal casing and internal parts of the electronic device. The magnetic sheet is attached to the periphery of the antenna (Patent Document 1).
In this way, a magnetic sheet made of ferrite with good magnetic properties is placed so as to overlap the antenna module, so that the magnetic field enters the metal placed around the antenna module and becomes an eddy current. To prevent it from changing. In addition, the ferrite magnetic sheet has been optimized in shape, combination, etc. so as to obtain good communication performance. In addition, as portable electronic devices such as cellular phones are becoming thinner, it is desired that the antenna module be as thin as possible while being bonded to a ferrite magnetic sheet.
As described above, magnetic material such as ferrite is used for the purpose of preventing the generation of eddy current and heat in the electronic device on the antenna substrate formed by making the antenna planar with a flexible electronic material such as FPC. A seat may be attached.
The antenna can be thinned from a dimensional viewpoint by reducing the thickness of the ferrite constituent layer, the adhesive constituent layer, and the FPC layer. However, in terms of communication characteristics, the antenna pattern is affected by the influence of the metal casing. The distance between the magnetic sheets is preferably as far as possible. For example, as shown in FIG. 8A, when the thickness of the
Therefore, the present invention has been proposed in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an antenna device that is thinned as a whole while maintaining communication characteristics.
In order to solve the above-described problem, the present invention provides an antenna substrate in which an antenna coil that receives a magnetic field transmitted from a transmitter and is inductively coupled to the transmitter to enable communication is mounted on the surface of the insulating layer; The antenna substrate includes a magnetic sheet that is bonded to the surface of the insulating layer on which the antenna coil is not mounted via an adhesive layer and draws a magnetic field transmitted from the transmitter into the antenna coil.
In the present invention, since the magnetic sheet is bonded to the surface of the insulating layer of the antenna substrate on which the antenna coil is not mounted via the adhesive layer, the antenna coil is used as a member for separating the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet. An insulating portion that is surface-mounted can be used, and good communication characteristics can be realized while reducing the overall thickness.
Hereinafter, embodiments for carrying out the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments, and various modifications can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
An antenna module to which the present invention is applied is a device that is in a communicable state by electromagnetic induction generated with a transmitter that transmits electromagnetic waves. For example, the antenna module for RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) as shown in FIG. It is incorporated into the
The
The reader /

The antenna module 1 incorporated in the housing 3 of the electronic device draws a magnetic field into the antenna coil 11a and the
On the

The communication processing unit 4 is driven by a current flowing through the antenna coil 11 a and communicates with the reader /
In the
The antenna module 1 according to the present embodiment is configured as shown in FIG. 2 from the viewpoint of realizing good communication characteristics while reducing the thickness of the entire module.
That is, the
The
In addition, the antenna module 1 is provided with a
In the antenna module 1 configured as described above, the
In particular, in order not to be affected by the magnetic field transmitted from the reader /
That is, as shown in FIG. 3, the
Unlike the antenna module 1 according to the present embodiment, the
Further, unlike the
In particular, the inventors of the present application arrange the antenna module 1 so that the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet is separated within a range of 50 [μm] to 55 [μm] based on the following example. However, it has been found that the module as a whole can be made thinner and have better communication characteristics than the
<Changes in communication characteristics according to the antenna coil-magnetic sheet>
A change in communication characteristics according to the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 4 shows changes in the Q value calculated by the following equation (1) when the distance between the antenna coil 11a and the
Q=ωL/R ・・・(1)
Q = ωL / R (1)
Here, ω [rad / s] is an angular frequency of the antenna coil 11a, L [μH] is an inductance value of the antenna coil 11a, and R [Ω] is a resistance value of the antenna coil 11a. The Q value is an index for evaluating communication characteristics, and the larger this value is, the better the communication sensitivity is and the larger the maximum communicable distance is.
In FIG. 4, the conductive metal layer constituting the antenna coil 11a has a film thickness of 35 [μm], and μ ″ = 1, 5, and 10 are complex relative magnetic permeability of the
FIG. 4 shows that Q is greatly deteriorated when the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet is closer than 50 [μm]. That is, it is suggested that narrowing the interval to reduce the total thickness of the antenna module causes deterioration of characteristics. On the other hand, when the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet is made thicker than 50 to 55 [μm], the Q value is increased and stabilized at about 100 [μm] or more as shown in FIG. Is not preferable.
Therefore, from the viewpoint of realizing a thin module as a whole and good communication characteristics, the following conditions are set by changing the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet within a range of 50 to 55 [μm] as a constraint. An antenna module was specifically created.
<Design conditions for antenna module>
In the following, it is assumed that an antenna module is created using the
That is, the
The
In accordance with the design conditions described above, the thickness of the entire module is approximately the same, and the antenna module A corresponding to the antenna module 1 as an example and the antenna module B corresponding to the

The antenna module A uses the following double access type wiring board. That is, a conductive metal layer made of Cu having a thickness of 50 μm is laminated on the surface of an insulating layer made of polyimide having a thickness of 25 μm. In the antenna module A, the thickness of the adhesive layer is adjusted so that the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet is 55 [μm], and the insulating layer of the antenna substrate and the magnetic sheet are adhered.

The antenna module B uses the following single access type wiring board. That is, a conductive metal layer made of Cu having a thickness of 35 μm and a resist layer having a thickness of 15 μm are sequentially laminated on the surface of an insulating layer made of polyimide having a thickness of 25 μm. In the antenna module B, the thickness of the adhesive layer is adjusted so that the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet is 50 [μm], and the resist layer of the antenna substrate and the magnetic sheet are adhered.
<評価>
<Evaluation>
For the antenna modules A and B described above, the shape and communication characteristics were evaluated using Table 1 below. Here, “FPC” is the total thickness of the antenna substrate, “interval” is the interval between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet, “Total” is the total thickness of the entire module, and “maximum communication” The “possible distance” is a value indicating the maximum distance at which the communication between the reader / writer and the antenna module can be performed at an oscillation frequency of 13.56 [MHz]. The larger this value, the better the communication characteristics. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 6, the “maximum communicable distance” is an
As shown in Table 1 above, the antenna module A has the same overall thickness as the antenna substrate and the entire module as compared with the antenna module B, but the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet can be made as large as possible. As a result, communication was possible as far as 3 [mm].
Next, communication characteristics when inductively coupled to the reader / writer will be described with reference to FIG. Here, the horizontal axis represents the frequency of the magnetic field used for communication, and the vertical axis represents the maximum communicable distance corresponding to the frequency. The frequency of the magnetic field transmitted from the reader / writer is 13.56 MHz as described above. However, when communication is performed by inductive coupling, communication is performed using a magnetic field component having a frequency higher than 13.56 MHz. Is done.
As is clear from FIG. 7, the antenna module A has higher characteristics and better communication sensitivity than the antenna module B in all frequency bands to be measured.
Table 2 below shows the inductance value L, resistance value R, and Q value for the antenna modules A and B.
As apparent from Table 2 above, the antenna module A can reduce the resistance value of the antenna coil by increasing the thickness of the conductive metal layer as compared with the antenna module B. As a result, the entire antenna module can be reduced. The overall thickness was the same, and the communication performance was improved as indicated by the Q value.
As is clear from the above results, the antenna module according to the present embodiment is arranged under the condition that the distance between the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet is spaced within the range of 50 [μm] to 55 [μm]. As a result, the module as a whole can be reduced in thickness and have good communication characteristics. The reason why the entire module can be thinned and has good communication characteristics in this way is that an insulating portion on which the antenna coil is surface-mounted can be used as a member for separating the antenna coil and the magnetic sheet. .
