Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a continuous casting tundish used when supplying molten steel from a ladle to a mold and a continuous casting method using the tundish.
In the continuous casting of steel, the molten steel whose components and temperature are adjusted in the refining process is transported to a continuous casting machine that performs the continuous casting process while being stored in the ladle. The transported molten steel is injected into the mold of the continuous casting machine. However, when the molten steel is directly injected into the mold from the ladle, it is difficult to control the flow rate of the molten steel. On the other hand, it is necessary to continuously carry out casting by supplying molten steel continuously to the mold while changing the ladle. For this reason, generally, the molten steel in the ladle is once injected into an intermediate container called a tundish through an injection nozzle and the like, and after the flow rate is adjusted in the tundish, it is supplied into the mold.
There are various types of tundish as described above, and so-called boat-type ones are often used. According to such a tundish, the molten steel is supplied from the injection nozzle to the center of the tundish, and the molten steel flows out from the outlets at both ends corresponding to the tip of the boat through the refractory nozzle to the mold of the continuous casting machine. The For example, a rod-shaped stopper that moves up and down to adjust the opening area of the outlet is provided at the outlets at both ends of the tundish, and the flow rate control of the molten steel in the tundish is performed by this stopper. .
Tundish not only has the function of supplying molten steel to the mold while controlling the flow rate as described above, but also slag, which is an oxide inevitably mixed during steel refining, and aluminum added for deoxidation. The non-metallic inclusions such as alumina produced from the above are floated and separated in the tundish using the fact that the specific gravity is smaller than the specific gravity of steel. As a result, non-metallic inclusions in the molten steel are prevented from being fed into the mold as they are, and are not mixed into the slab, thereby suppressing defects during rolling caused by non-metallic inclusions. .
The fewer inclusions in the molten steel supplied from the tundish to the mold, the better. For this reason, in order to improve the floating separation function of inclusions in the tundish, a dam has been provided in the tundish. For example, as disclosed in
Furthermore, in order to suppress the generation of vortex and turbulence when molten steel is injected into the tundish by the injection nozzle, an upper surface called a stopper or impact pad is opened directly below the injection nozzle at the bottom of the tundish. It has also been proposed to install such containers (

As described in ISIJ-int., 41 (2001), 1103., it is known that inclusion aggregation is proportional to the square root of turbulent energy.
However, when the tundish disclosed in

This invention is made | formed in view of this point, and it aims at fully separating and removing also the fine inclusion in molten steel in the tundish for continuous casting.

To achieve the above object, the present invention provides a tundish for continuous casting of steel, an injection nozzle for flowing molten steel from a ladle to the tundish, and an outlet for flowing molten steel from the tundish to a mold. An upper weir and a lower weir are provided in the molten steel flow channel between the upper weir and the lower weir, and are disposed in the same position on the molten steel flow channel so as to face each other in the vertical direction through the slit. The opening area is set to 20% or less of the maximum molten steel channel cross-sectional area, and an overhanging portion protruding toward the injection nozzle is provided at the upper end of the lower weir, and the length X of the overhanging portion (M) satisfies the following equation (1), and the height H (m) of the lower weir and the thickness h (m) of the overhanging portion satisfy the following equation (2). The length X of the overhanging portion refers to the distance between the end portion on the lower weir side and the end portion on the injection nozzle side in the overhanging portion. The maximum molten steel channel cross-sectional area refers to the molten steel channel cross-sectional area at the maximum flow rate during steady operation.

0.1 ≦ Hh (2)
Where L: distance between the center of the injection nozzle and the side surface of the lower weir on the injection nozzle side (m), D: outer diameter of the injection nozzle (m)
According to the present invention, since the overhang is provided at the upper end of the lower weir, the molten steel that has flowed into the tundish during steady operation is prevented from flowing downstream by the lower weir and the overhang. Rarely, convection and agitation are performed in a region on the upstream side of the lower weir below the overhanging portion (hereinafter sometimes referred to as “stirring region”). And when the inventors investigated, as described in the examples, the length of the overhanging portion and the height of the lower weir below the overhanging portion are important in sufficiently realizing the aggregation of inclusions. It was found that this is a major factor (this point has no description in Non-Patent
In addition, since the overhanging portion is provided so as to protrude shorter than the upper limit value in the above formula (1), a sufficient distance between the overhanging portion and the injection nozzle can be secured, and the molten steel can be flown at an appropriate flow rate. Flows from the stirring region to above the overhanging portion. Then, the molten steel passes through the slit and is rectified and flows to the outlet without involving the inclusions floating on the hot water surface upstream of the upper weir.
The reason why the slit opening area is set to 20% or less of the maximum molten steel channel cross-sectional area is the upper limit that allows the inventors to perform experiments and the like to realize the rectification of molten steel by the slit. Based on confirming that there is.

A pair of the upper weir and the lower weir are respectively arranged at two locations so as to face each other with the injection nozzle interposed therebetween, and the overhanging portion surrounds the injection nozzle so as to surround the upper end portion and the tongue of the lower weir. The overhanging portion is provided so as to project from the side wall of the dish to the injection nozzle side, and the overhanging portion satisfies the expressions (1) and (2), and the length Y of the overhanging portion from the side wall of the tundish ( m) may satisfy the following formula (3). Note that the length Y of the protruding portion from the side wall of the tundish means the distance between the end portion on the side wall side of the tundish and the end portion on the injection nozzle side in the protruding portion.

The inner peripheral shape of the overhang portion may be a quadrangular shape in plan view. Further, the inner peripheral shape of the protruding portion may be a circular shape in plan view. In addition, when the inner peripheral shape of the overhanging portion is circular in a plan view, the length X of the overhanging portion is the minimum length of the overhanging portion overhanging from the upper end portion of the lower weir to the injection nozzle side. The length Y of the overhanging portion is the minimum length of the overhanging portion from the side wall of the tundish.
According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a continuous steel casting method using the tundish, wherein a non-oxidizing gas is injected into the molten steel flowing through the injection nozzle, and the molten steel into which the non-oxidizing gas is injected is provided. It is characterized by flowing into the tundish.
According to the present invention, minute inclusions in molten steel can be sufficiently separated and removed.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below. FIG. 1 is an explanatory view of a longitudinal section showing an outline of the configuration of the
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the
As shown in FIG. 1, an

An
As shown in FIG. 1, a

The lower limit value of the overhang length X in the above formula (1) and the lower limit value of the height (Hh) of the
Further, as a result of investigations by the inventors, when the molten steel M flows from the stirring region S to above the
L-X-D / 2> D / 2 (4)
In addition, although the upper limit of the height (Hh) of the
Next, the operation of the
First, molten steel M is supplied into the
The stirred molten steel M flows out from the stirring region S to above the
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 5, the molten steel M passes through the
The molten steel M from which the inclusions have been removed flows out from the
According to the above embodiment, at the upper end portion of the
Moreover, since the
In the above embodiment, the

However, W: distance (m) between the
The basis of the lower limit value of the overhang width Y in the above formula (3) is the same as the lower limit value of the overhang length X in the above formula (1). That is, this is the minimum length necessary for reliably causing the molten steel M supplied in the
W/2−Y−D/2>D/2・・・・(5)
The basis for the upper limit value of the overhang width Y in the above formula (3) is also the same as the upper limit value of the overhang length X in the above formula (1). That is, as shown in the following formula (5), the distance (W / 2−Y−D / 2) between the overhanging

According to the above embodiment, the overhanging
In the above embodiment, the inner peripheral shape of the overhanging
When using the
In such a case, fine inclusions in the molten steel M adhere to the non-oxidizing gas G injected into the molten steel M. Then, since the specific gravity difference between the inclusions and the molten steel M is increased, fine inclusions in the molten steel M can be more reliably separated and removed.
Hereinafter, the inclusion removal effect when the tundish of the present invention is used will be described. In this example, the
Tan The
In this example, the experiment was performed under seven conditions of 0 m, 0.05 m, 0.1 m, 0.15 m, 0.2 m, 0.26 m, and 0.32 m as the overhang length X of the
In the investigation of the number of inclusions, only the inclusions were extracted from the molten steel sample collected on the exit side of the
Table 1 shows the results of experiments conducted under the above conditions. If the overhang length X of the
Referring to Table 1, when the overhang length X is 0 m not satisfying the above formula (1) or 0.05 m (Non-patent Document 1), the inclusion number index of any diameter is 1.00. Thus, the inclusions could not be removed sufficiently. In addition, when the overhang length X is 0.32 m not satisfying the above formula (1), the inclusion number index of 10 μm to 30 μm and 30 μm to 70 μm in diameter is 0.28 to 0.30. The inclusion number index of 70 μm to 150 μm in diameter was 2.00, and the inclusions could not be removed sufficiently. This is because the overhang length X is too long and a sufficient distance between the
On the other hand, when the overhang length X is 0.1 m, 0.15 m, 0.2 m, and 0.26 m satisfying the above formula (1), the inclusion number index of any diameter is 0.50 or less. The inclusions were sufficiently removed. Therefore, when the tundish of this invention was used, it turned out that an inclusion can fully be removed.
Further, when argon gas is injected into the molten steel M when the overhang length X is 0.2 m satisfying the above formula (1), the inclusion number index of any diameter becomes 0.20 or less, and further, It turned out that the removal effect of an object increases.
Further, in the case where the overhang length X is 0.2 m satisfying the above formula (1) and there is no argon gas injection, as shown in FIGS. The same experiment was conducted for the case where the
Table 2 shows the results of experiments conducted under the above conditions. The criteria for the inclusion number index in Table 2 are the same as in Table 1 above. Referring to Table 2, each inclusion number index with diameters of 10 μm to 30 μm, 30 μm to 70 μm, and 70 μm to 150 μm is 0.24 to 0.25, and there is an
Further, as shown in FIG. 9, an
Table 3 shows the results of experiments conducted under the above conditions. In addition, the standard of the inclusion number index in Table 3 is the same as that in Table 1 above. Referring to Table 3, the inclusion index for each of the
