Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell system.
In some fuel cell systems that use hydrogen as the anode gas, the anode exhaust gas discharged from the fuel cell (solid polymer fuel cell) is returned to the anode gas supply port of the fuel cell, or the anode exhaust gas is supplied to the anode gas. There are those equipped with an anode exhaust gas circulation / discharge system that can be discharged outside the system without returning to the mouth.
In short, there is a fuel cell system in which hydrogen that has not reacted in the fuel cell can be reused as fuel, and when the amount of impurities (such as nitrogen) in the anode exhaust gas increases, the anode exhaust gas can be discharged outside the system. However, from the viewpoint of improving fuel consumption (hydrogen utilization efficiency), it is better that the amount of hydrogen discharged together with impurities outside the system is small.
Therefore, a fuel cell system (see, for example, Patent Document 1) has been developed in which an electrochemical hydrogen pump is provided in the anode exhaust gas circulation / discharge system so that anode exhaust gas can be discharged after hydrogen is extracted.
The fuel cell system should be compact and inexpensive to manufacture. Therefore, attempts have been made to operate the fuel cell without humidification in order to eliminate the need for a humidifier, and to operate the fuel cell at a high temperature in order to reduce the size of the radiator. At present, a fuel cell system that can be operated without humidification / high temperature without the electrolyte membrane being dried has not been developed yet.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is a fuel cell system equipped with an electrochemical hydrogen pump, in which the electrolyte membranes in the fuel cell and the electrochemical hydrogen pump are not dried, and the fuel cell is operated without humidification / An object of the present invention is to provide a fuel cell system that can be operated at a high temperature.
In order to solve the above problems, the fuel cell system of the present invention provides:
A power generation unit including a portion in which a plurality of fuel cells are stacked, a gas containing hydrogen being supplied as an anode gas, and at least a part of the anode exhaust gas discharged from the power generation unit has a higher impurity concentration An impurity concentrating unit for separating the hydrogen into hydrogen and an electrolyte membrane stacked in the stacking direction of the fuel cell with respect to the power generation unit, a cathode channel facing the sandwiched electrolyte membrane, One or more electrochemical hydrogen pump units having an anode flow path, an anode exhaust gas supply path for supplying at least part of the anode exhaust gas from the power generation section to the anode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit, The cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit connected to the vertical upper part of the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit The hydrogen outlet for discharging the hydrogen accumulated in the cathode channel and the excess liquid water in the cathode channel of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit is discharged to the outside of the cathode channel. Impurity concentration unit having liquid water amount adjusting means for maintaining the amount of liquid water in the cathode channel of the chemical hydrogen pump unit so as not to touch a part of a predetermined area on the upper side in the vertical direction of the electrolyte membrane of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit A fuel cell comprising:
Hydrogen circulation means for taking out hydrogen from the hydrogen outlet of the impurity concentrating unit and including the extracted hydrogen in the anode gas supplied to the power generation unit,
Heating means for warming the impurity concentration part of the fuel cell; and
The heating means is controlled so that liquid water in the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit in the impurity concentrating unit is vaporized when the amount of water in the electrolyte membrane of each fuel cell of the power generation unit is insufficient. It has a control means.
That is, the fuel cell employed in the fuel cell system of the present invention is an integrated fuel cell in an existing fuel cell system, a power generation unit corresponding to an electrochemical hydrogen pump, and an impurity concentration unit, respectively. If a fuel cell, an electrochemical hydrogen pump unit, or the like is laminated, it can be manufactured (assembled).
And the number of parts and the number of processes required for manufacturing such a fuel cell are smaller than the number of parts and the number of processes required when separately producing the power generation unit and the impurity concentration unit. In addition, if the power generation unit and the impurity concentration unit are integrated, it is not necessary to secure the installation location of the impurity concentration unit and to connect the power generation unit and the impurity concentration unit when constructing the fuel cell system. It will be. Therefore, if this fuel cell system configuration is adopted, a more compact and inexpensive fuel cell system can be realized than when the conventional configuration is adopted.
Moreover, the impurity concentration part of the fuel cell has a configuration in which hydrogen is taken out from the upper part in the vertical direction of the cathode channel of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit. In the present invention, the vertical direction is a vertical direction when the fuel cell is in a normal posture.
In other words, the impurity concentrating unit adopts the above-described configuration so that liquid water (condensed water) generated in the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit is not discharged together with hydrogen. Yes. And if the liquid water produced in the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit is not discharged together with hydrogen, liquid water accumulates in the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit. Water can be supplied to the electrolyte membrane of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit. Therefore, the fuel cell system of the present invention is a system that can perform a non-humidifying operation / high temperature operation of the fuel cell without drying each electrolyte membrane in the electrochemical hydrogen pump (impurity concentrating portion). It will be.
Furthermore, the fuel cell system is configured to “take out hydrogen from the hydrogen outlet of the impurity concentrating unit and include the extracted hydrogen in the anode gas supplied to the power generation unit”, “the fuel cell "Heating means for warming the impurity concentrating part" and "in the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit in the impurity concentrating part when the amount of water in the electrolyte membrane of each fuel cell of the power generating part is insufficient Control means for controlling the heating means so that the liquid water is vaporized. In other words, the fuel cell system vaporizes liquid water accumulated in the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit when the amount of water in the electrolyte membrane of each fuel cell is insufficient, It has a configuration that can be supplied to the electrolyte membrane. Therefore, the fuel cell system of the present invention is a system that can perform the non-humidification operation / high temperature operation of the fuel cell in such a manner that each electrolyte membrane in the power generation unit does not dry.
The impurity concentration part of the fuel cell is such that the amount of liquid water in the cathode channel of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit does not touch the part of the predetermined area on the upper side in the vertical direction of the electrolyte membrane of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit. The liquid water amount adjusting means is maintained. Therefore, in the fuel cell system of the present invention, the amount of liquid water in the cathode flow path of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit increases excessively (the area of the electrolyte membrane of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit that can be used for hydrogen transfer) Therefore, the performance of each electrochemical hydrogen pump unit does not deteriorate.
As each component of the fuel cell system of the present invention, various components having different specific configurations can be adopted. For example, a fuel cell having a cooling channel for cooling the power generation unit by flowing water and a heating channel for warming the impurity concentration unit by flowing water is adopted. As a means corresponding to the heating means, a first state in which water discharged from the cooling flow path is cooled and supplied to the cooling flow path, and water discharged from the cooling flow path is used for the heating. Cooling water circulating means that can take a second state that is cooled and then supplied to the cooling flow path after passing through the flow path is adopted, and the amount of moisture in the electrolyte membrane of each fuel cell of the power generation unit is used as the control means A means for operating the cooling water circulation means in the second state can be employed when the amount of water is insufficient.
According to the present invention, there is provided a fuel cell system including an electrochemical hydrogen pump, wherein the fuel cell is operated in a non-humidified operation / high temperature operation so that each electrolyte membrane in the fuel cell and the electrochemical hydrogen pump does not dry. It is possible to provide a fuel cell system that can be used.

Next, the configuration of the

The anode gas supply system also includes a shut
Further, as shown in FIG. 2, the

This control device is a process for temporarily opening the shut
The control device also has a function of monitoring the amount of water in the electrolyte membrane of each

At that time, if control processing such as the impurity concentrating unit is not performed (if the shut
Further, if the operation in such a form continues, the impurity concentration in the anode gas supplied to the power generation unit and the anode exhaust gas discharged from the power generation unit increases, but the impurity concentration in the anode gas / anode exhaust gas If the process of flowing a current between the
。
As a result, the anode exhaust gas in the anode flow path of each
Moreover, since the water | moisture content which moved to the cathode flow path side of each
And the anode flow path of each
Moreover, the cathode flow path of each
Therefore, when a certain amount of hydrogen accumulates on the cathode flow path side of each
And if water is stored in the cathode flow path of each
However, if the hydrogen / liquid
Then, after extending upward from the hydrogen /
Further, if the impurity concentrating part is warmed during the control process such as the impurity concentrating part, the liquid water in the cathode flow path of each
As described above in detail, the
And, the number of parts required for manufacturing the
Therefore, if the configuration of the
Further, the impurity concentrating part provided in the
Furthermore, the control device provided in the
Further, the impurity concentrating part of the
