Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an assembled battery including a plurality of batteries, and more particularly to a large-capacity assembled battery that can efficiently dissipate heat generated in the battery to the outside and has excellent high rate characteristics.
For example, power supplies for robots and small powered mobile devices are hermetically sealed in a limited space, and thus are demanded to be small and light and low cost. In recent years, lithium ion batteries having a high energy density have attracted attention as satisfying such demands. In order to obtain a high output, this lithium ion battery is used as an assembled battery by connecting a large number of batteries, for example, about 5 or 6 cells to about 10 or more cells in series or in parallel.
However, an assembled battery used for the above-described purposes is used at a high rate, and each battery (unit cell) generates heat during discharging. However, when it is installed in a sealed space as described above, it dissipates heat into the air. The temperature rises because it cannot be performed, and there is a problem that the battery cannot be discharged when it reaches the operation upper limit temperature.
Therefore, in
However, in
In addition, in the case of an assembled battery in which a stacked battery or the like configured in a square shape is configured as a single battery, it is necessary to apply a uniform pressure (constitutive pressure) to each single battery in order to obtain high rate characteristics However, the above-mentioned
Therefore, the present invention can sufficiently obtain thermal conductivity to the outside even when installed in a limited space, and can effectively apply a uniform component pressure to each unit cell. An object is to provide a possible assembled battery.
In order to achieve the above object, the assembled battery according to the present invention is:
A plurality of stacked batteries;
An exterior member extending along the battery stacking direction and having thermal conductivity;
A spacer having a heat insulating portion having heat insulating properties, a heat transfer portion disposed on both sides of the heat insulating portion and having heat conductivity, and an outer contact surface portion having heat conductivity connected to the heat transfer portion;
With
The heat transfer portion is interposed between the batteries and is in surface contact with the surface of the battery, and the outer contact surface portion is in surface contact with the exterior member.
In the present invention, the “exterior member” generally includes any member that can cover a plurality of stacked batteries from the outside. For example, a rectangular plate-shaped battery is stacked to form a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape as a whole. In the case of the battery stack configured as described above, a bottom plate, a top plate, a side plate, a front plate, a back plate and the like covering each of the six surfaces of the battery stack are included. In the case of an approximately rectangular parallelepiped battery stack as described above, for example, the “exterior member having thermal conductivity” 4 excludes the outer surfaces of the batteries at both ends of the six surfaces of the battery stack. A member made of a material having thermal conductivity, such as aluminum and copper, extending so as to cover at least one of the surfaces (that is, four surfaces on which the periphery of each stacked battery is positioned), for example, the battery stack The body faces the battery stacking direction When placed Te is made of thermally conductive material, a bottom plate, side plates, at least one side plate and the bottom plate and the member of L-shaped cross section or a groove shape formed by molding integrally, and the like corresponds to this.
The “heat insulating part” includes, for example, any part where a heat insulating material such as a resin is formed into a film, a layer, or the like, and more specifically, includes a heat insulating sheet made of a resin or the like.
Further, the “heat transfer part” includes, for example, any part where a material having thermal conductivity such as aluminum or copper is formed into a film, a layer, or the like, and more specifically, for example, aluminum, copper, or the like. Examples thereof include a metal plate made of the above metal.
Further, the “outer contact surface portion” may be any material as long as it has a heat conductivity and a contact surface capable of surface contact with the exterior member. For example, a metal such as aluminum or copper is formed in a U-shaped cross section. The contact surface is formed by connecting a member formed into an L-shaped cross-section, a rectangular tube, a rectangular bar shape (solid prismatic shape) or the like to the heat transfer portion of the spacer by welding or the like. Any of them, or those in which the abutting surface is formed by bending the end of the spacer to one side are included.
According to the said structure, the heat which generate | occur | produced in the battery is dissipated outside through the heat-transfer part of a spacer, an outer side contact surface part, and an exterior member. That is, a heat transfer path is formed between the unit battery constituting the assembled battery and the outer space of the assembled battery, from the heat transfer portion of the spacer to the exterior member through the outer contact surface portion, and this heat transfer route It is possible to ensure thermal conductivity. At this time, the heat transfer portion of the spacer is in surface contact with the surface of the battery to secure a sufficient heat receiving area, and the outer contact surface portion is in surface contact with the exterior member to reduce the heat transfer area. Sufficiently secured, thereby providing sufficient thermal conductivity to the outside.
In addition, since the spacer is in contact with the exterior member at the outer contact surface portion, the spacer is restrained at any part in the assembly process of the assembled battery before the spacer is joined to the exterior member. Therefore, it is possible to sufficiently apply a component pressure to each unit cell by applying pressure by sandwiching a plurality of unit cells from both sides at this stage. Since the heat transfer part of the spacer is in surface contact with the surface of the battery, the constituent pressure can be applied uniformly to each unit cell.
It is desirable that the spacer includes an inner contact surface portion connected to the heat transfer portion, and the inner contact surface portion is in surface contact with the side end surface of the battery.
In the present invention, the “inner contact surface portion” may have any contact surface that has thermal conductivity and can contact the side end surface of the battery. For example, a metal such as aluminum or copper may be used. A member formed into a U-shaped cross-section, an L-shaped cross-section, a rectangular tube, a rectangular bar shape, or the like is connected to the heat transfer portion of the spacer by welding or the like to form a contact surface, etc. Both are included.
In this case, the “side end surface of the battery” refers to the side surface that does not contact the heat transfer portion of the spacer, that is, the surface that contacts the heat transfer portion of the spacer in the case of, for example, the aforementioned rectangular plate battery. This corresponds to the side end face located at the edge (four sides) excluding.
In the present invention, as the unit cell constituting the assembled battery, any unit cell can be used as long as the assembled battery can be configured with a spacer interposed therebetween. A laminated battery using an exterior body made of a soft laminate film (hereinafter, also referred to as “laminated laminate battery”) is particularly preferably used because it has a structure capable of sufficiently applying the constituent pressure. Furthermore, in this laminated laminate type battery, it can be most easily and inexpensively manufactured by inserting a laminated electrode body into an exterior body made of two laminated films and sealing the edge portion by welding. In the laminated laminate type battery having such a configuration, the sealing portion of the laminate film extends to the edge portion to form the ear portion. In the case of constituting an assembled battery using this laminated laminate type battery as a single battery, in order to secure a heat receiving area from each single battery, not only the surface of each single battery is brought into contact with the heat transfer portion of the spacer, but also each Although it is desirable that the side end face located at the edge of the unit cell is also in contact with the exterior member, at this time, if the ear is formed as described above, the ear is in contact with the exterior member. It is difficult to secure a heat receiving area in the lever part.
Therefore, if the spacer is provided with the inner contact surface portion as described above so as to be brought into surface contact with the side end surface of the battery, it is possible to secure not only the surface of each unit cell but also the heat receiving area from the side end surface. It becomes possible.
The spacer has a U-shaped member composed of a center piece and both side pieces, the center piece is connected to the heat transfer portion, and each side piece forms an outer contact surface portion and an inner contact surface portion. It is desirable that
The outer abutting surface portion may be formed, for example, by bending the end of the spacer in one side as described above. In this case, the inner abutting surface portion fixes another member to the spacer. It is necessary to form. On the other hand, if the central piece of the U-shaped member is connected to the spacer as described above, and the outer abutting surface portion and the inner abutting surface portion are configured by each side piece, the outer abutting contact with the spacer. Since the surface portion and the inner contact surface portion can be formed at a time, the fabrication is easy. In addition to the U-shaped member, for example, a square tube or a square bar as described above may be used, but it is desirable to use a U-shaped member from the viewpoint of weight reduction.
It is desirable that a refrigerant flow path capable of flowing a refrigerant is formed in the exterior member.
According to the said structure, a cooling effect is acquired by distribute | circulating a refrigerant | coolant to a refrigerant | coolant distribution path, and the temperature rise of a battery can be suppressed more effectively.
It is desirable that a pressure plate having thermal conductivity is arranged so as to sandwich the plurality of batteries from both sides along the stacking direction of the batteries, and a heat insulating portion having heat insulation is formed on the pressure plate.
The pressure plate, which is a clamping jig that applies pressure (constituent pressure) to the battery, is preferably also thermally conductive to ensure the heat dissipation of the assembled battery. If it arrange | positions at both sides, a heat | fever will be directly transmitted to the pressurization board from the cell arrange | positioned at the most both sides, and this both ends will be cooled too much by this. On the other hand, when the heat insulating portion is formed on the pressure plate as described above, heat transfer is performed through the exterior member at both end portions similarly to the central portion, and excessive cooling is suppressed. As a result, the balance of the temperature distribution in the entire assembled battery can be improved.
You may make it form the board | substrate arrangement | positioning part which arrange | positions a control board between the inner side contact surface part of the said spacer, and the said exterior member.
In the space formed between the inner contact surface portion of the spacer and the exterior member, the ear portion of the battery is arranged at the center, but most of the space is a dead space. Therefore, as described above, by forming a substrate placement portion for placing a control board for controlling charge / discharge, etc., in this space, the space can be effectively utilized, and the assembled battery can be made compact accordingly. .
A long hole extending in the stacking direction of the plurality of batteries is formed in the outer contact surface portion or the exterior member of the spacer, and the outer contact surface portion is joined to the exterior member by a screw or a bolt through the long hole. It is desirable.
The outer contact surface portion of the spacer may be joined to the exterior member by welding, for example, but as described above, the outer contact surface portion of the spacer or the exterior member is aligned along the stacking direction of the plurality of batteries. When the outer abutment surface is joined to the exterior member with a screw or a bolt, the spacer is held in a predetermined position in the stacking direction of the battery. Therefore, it is possible to sufficiently apply a uniform component pressure to each unit cell by applying pressure from both sides, so that the assembly work of the assembled battery becomes easier.
According to the configuration of the present invention, even when the assembled battery is installed sealed in a limited space, the heat generated in the battery can be efficiently radiated to the outside, and A uniform component pressure can be easily and effectively applied, and thus an assembled battery having excellent high rate characteristics can be obtained.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail with reference to the drawings.

As shown in FIG. 13, 13

[Pressurization of the cell]
As shown in FIG. 15,

(3) In the configuration of the assembled

(5) In the configuration of the assembled
(6) In the configuration of the assembled
