Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an X-ray source, an X-ray generation method, and an X-ray source manufacturing method that generate X-rays by extracting electrons from a field emission electron emitter and making them collide with a target.
An X-ray source (FE type X-ray source) using a field emission electron source has been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 1). A conventional FE type X-ray source has a structure including a cathode (cathode) to which a field emission material is attached, an anode, a gate electrode provided with a grid for controlling electron current, and a vacuum vessel. Have. Generally, in the FE type X-ray source, the amount of electron current cannot be controlled by a heating current as in the case of a filament. Therefore, the FE type X-ray source employs a so-called tripolar configuration including a gate electrode provided with a grid. Used.
In the FE type X-ray source configured in this way, the current ON / OFF response is faster than that using a thermionic electron emitter, high-speed X-ray imaging is possible, and the movement of the object The image blur caused by can be eliminated. Due to this feature, the FE type X-ray source is suitable for precision imaging of human organs where pulsation is inevitable, and is expected to be applied to the next generation medical X-ray examination apparatus.
A conventional FE type X-ray source has a structure in which field electrons are emitted from an electron emitter and shaping of an electron beam after emission is performed using the same gate electrode. Therefore, the gate electrode needs to satisfy the two functions of applying a uniform electric field to the electron emitter surface and accelerating the emitted electrons to the anode.
In addition, in the conventional FE type X-ray source, a gate electrode provided with a fine metal mesh or a mesh grid is applied, thereby giving priority to the function of applying a uniform electric field to the surface of the electron emitter. However, on the other hand, the loss due to the component incident on the grid part increases, and even if it passes through the grid part, the emission direction is dissipated, and the electron beam irradiation spot diameter on the anode surface is expanded, etc. It will have an adverse effect on beaming. For this reason, it has been difficult for a conventional FE X-ray source to achieve both reduction in loss of electron current and obtaining an electron beam having a uniform direction.
In general, in an FE type X-ray source, the amount of electron current that becomes the performance of an electron emitter greatly depends on the degree of vacuum. When operated at a vacuum lower than 10 −5 Pa, the electron emitter becomes difficult to operate stably due to the sputtering action of the ionized residual gas, and an increase in the upper limit of the amount of electron current cannot be expected. . In addition, the degree of vacuum tends to decrease mainly due to the emission gas from the electron emitter during the operation of the FE type X-ray source. Therefore, in order to achieve stable operation, the exhaust in the X-ray source is continued. It was necessary to perform careful aging for a long time. Thus, in the FE type X-ray source, in order to achieve a stable and high performance, a process requiring a great amount of labor and time has been required.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to extend the life of an X-ray source that generates X-rays by extracting electrons from a field emission electron emitter and causing them to collide with a target.

An anode to which a positive predetermined voltage is applied to the electron emitter, a target that emits X-rays when the electron that is stored in the vacuum container and accelerated by the predetermined voltage collides, and the vacuum The electron emitter is placed in a container so as not to block a path of electrons from the electron emitter toward the target, and a voltage is applied to the electron emitter so that electrons emitted from the electron emitter And a gate electrode for controlling an emission amount.
Further, the X-ray generation method of the present invention includes an electron emission step in which an electron emitter is positioned in a predetermined electric field in a vacuum container to emit electrons, and an electron acceleration step in which the electron emitter is accelerated by a predetermined voltage; An X-ray emission process in which electrons accelerated by the predetermined voltage in the vacuum container collide with a target to emit X-rays; a voltage is applied to the gate electrode from the electron emitter; And an electron emission amount control step for controlling the amount of emitted electrons.
Further, the X-ray source manufacturing method of the present invention includes a step of manufacturing a container, a field emission type electron emitter that emits electrons when positioned in a predetermined electric field, and positive with respect to the electron emitter. An anode to which a predetermined voltage is applied, a target that emits X-rays when electrons accelerated by the predetermined voltage collide, and the electron emitter so as not to block an electron path from the electron emitter to the target And a step of attaching a gate electrode in the container for controlling an emission amount of electrons emitted from the electron emitter, the container being evacuated. And a vacuum process.
According to the present invention, the lifetime of an X-ray source that generates X-rays can be extended by extracting electrons from a field emission electron emitter and causing them to collide with a target.

[Embodiment 1]
1 is a longitudinal sectional view of an X-ray source according to
In the X-ray source of the first embodiment, the
The electric field formed by the voltage applied between the
The amount of emitted electron current can be controlled by adjusting the electric field intensity penetrating into the

In the present embodiment, the electric field applied to the
Further, it is possible to make electrons having the same emission direction into a beam and enter the

The X-ray source of

The X-ray source of

FIG. 4 is a longitudinal sectional view of a part of the X-ray source according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention.
The X-ray source of
By using the
Further, when a plate having a blade-like side is used for the
Since X-rays 9 having a small focal size can be generated in this way, high-resolution X-ray imaging can be performed even with the same amount of electron current. Therefore, less electron current is required for X-ray imaging with the same resolution, and the life of the X-ray source is increased.

[Embodiment 5]
FIG. 5 is a longitudinal sectional view of a part of the X-ray source according to the fifth embodiment of the present invention.
In the present embodiment, the
The
The
In order to efficiently extract electrons from the

In the present embodiment, four sets of units each composed of a

In this embodiment, the
In the gate-integrated
Since the thickness of the
Further, since the electron current can be increased without increasing the voltage as in the seventh embodiment, the lifetime of the X-ray source is extended.

In the present embodiment, an

In this embodiment, a
After the X-ray source is assembled, the
By forcibly baking and exhausting the gas contained in the

In this embodiment, in order to exclude gas in the
In order to activate the
