Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a color image forming apparatus using an electrophotographic system such as a copying machine, a printer, a facsimile, and a digital multifunction machine having these functions combined, and particularly an image forming apparatus including a transfer unit such as a transfer belt or a transfer roller. The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus, a transfer material driving method executed by the image forming apparatus, and a computer program for executing the driving method by a computer.
Some image forming apparatuses that form a visible image on a recording medium such as a sheet member directly write an image on the recording medium or transfer an image formed in advance to form an image. As a typical example of the former, for example, a droplet discharge method such as an ink jet method is known, and as a typical example of the latter, an electrophotographic method is known.
Among these, in an electrophotographic system, for example, an electrostatic latent image is formed on the surface of a photosensitive drum or a photosensitive belt as an image carrier, and the electrostatic latent image on the image carrier is developed with toner. A step of forming a visible image, transferring the visualized image onto a transfer material by a transfer device, supporting the image, and fixing the toner image on the transfer material by heating and / or pressing with a fixing device; An image is formed on the transfer material by sequentially performing the process.
By applying this technique, a plurality of color images (color images) are obtained using a plurality of color developers. In principle, if a yellow (Y), magenta (M)), or cyan (C) developer is used, a full-color image can be obtained by color mixing. In an actual machine, a black (K) developer is added in addition to the three colors, and a full color image is generally formed with four colors.
As an example of such a full-color image forming apparatus, a tandem type image forming apparatus is known. In this tandem type image forming apparatus, four color toner images of yellow, cyan, magenta, and black are formed on each photosensitive drum, primarily transferred to an intermediate transfer belt that is an intermediate transfer member, and then transferred onto the intermediate transfer belt. Each color is formed on an indirect transfer method in which a four-color image is superimposed to form a full-color image and then secondarily transferred to a sheet to form an image, or on a sheet that is sucked and conveyed on a transfer conveyance belt. There is known a direct transfer system that forms a full-color image by sequentially superimposing toner images one by one. In these image forming apparatuses, in order to extend the life of the photosensitive member, the color photosensitive member is separated from the intermediate transfer member during monochrome image formation, or all four color photosensitive members are separated from the intermediate transfer member. There is one that can be used (for example, see Patent Document 1).
In the image forming apparatus described in Patent Document 1, the intermediate transfer member is configured to be in contact with the image carrier during image transfer operation and to be non-contact in other cases. In an image forming apparatus employing such a method, in order to give priority to first printing, an intermediate transfer material is also brought into contact with an image carrier during standby.
However, even if the period other than the time of image transfer is in principle non-contact, if the intermediate transfer material is brought into contact with the image carrier during standby in this way and left in contact for a long time, eventually, depending on the material of the transfer material The image carrier and the transfer material may be deformed. When such deformation occurs, the image deteriorates, and in order to restore the original image quality, it is necessary to exchange the deformed intermediate transfer member and image carrier.
Therefore, a problem to be solved by the present invention is to prevent the transfer material from being deformed without deteriorating the first print performance and to prevent image deterioration.

FIG. 6 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure of non-contact time aging processing. The transfer material is an image to which an image is transferred. In this embodiment, the transfer material is the intermediate transfer belt 5 or the
This control procedure is after an initialization operation after the power is turned on. After the power is turned on, the
The
Next, using the acquired time, a timer process is started using a software-controllable timer (step S103), and the process after the power is turned on is exited.
FIG. 7 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure of non-contact processing, and shows an example of processing when the timer value set in step S103 of FIG. 6 has reached time. In FIG. 7, when the timer reaches the set time, the
In step S104, the end of the printing operation is determined. The
In step S105, the end of the adjustment operation is determined. The adjustment operation is an operation for adjusting an output value such as charging or development related to the image carrier (photosensitive drum 1) for adjusting toner replenishment or image density. When the adjustment operation is completed (step S105-Y), similarly to the initialization operation after the power is turned on (step S101) or the operation after the printing is finished (step S104), the
FIG. 8 is a flowchart showing an example of the processing procedure of the transfer material contact preparation process. In the figure, when the button on the operation panel of the

In this embodiment, an indirect transfer type and direct transfer type tandem image forming apparatus is described as an example. However, in addition, an image forming apparatus provided with a mechanism in which a transfer material separates from and contacts an image carrier is described. Needless to say, it can be applied. For example, the transfer roller is transferred even when the transfer paper is conveyed between the photosensitive drum and the transfer roller or between the photosensitive drum and the transfer belt and the toner image formed on the photosensitive drum is transferred onto the transfer paper. The same control is executed as the material.
As described above, according to this embodiment,
1) The transfer material can be set in a non-contact state with respect to the image carrier after a preset time has elapsed with the completion of the initialization operation, the print operation, and the adjustment operation as triggers. It is not left for a long time in contact with the carrier (FIGS. 6 and 7).
2) Since the transfer material is kept in contact with the image carrier for a preset time from the end of the initialization operation, the end of the print operation, and the end of the adjustment operation, when a print instruction is input at that time, Printing is possible immediately. Thus, the first print performance is not hindered (FIGS. 6 and 7).
3) Since the transfer material is not left for a long time in contact with the image carrier, it is possible to prevent the transfer material from being deformed and to prevent the occurrence of an abnormal image (see FIG. 9 and FIG. 9). FIG. 10).
4) The preset time can be set on the user side by the set value of the timer, and if the set value is changed according to the use environment, the optimum operation is possible even in the use environment of the user (see FIG. 6 and FIG. 7).
There are effects such as.
