Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light source switching technique at the end of the life of a light source for an image display device using a light emitting diode (hereinafter referred to as “LED”) or a laser.
Conventional video display devices use a high-pressure mercury lamp as the light source, but the lifetime of the high-pressure mercury lamp is as short as about 10,000 hours, and it is necessary to replace the high-pressure mercury lamp once a year. It was. For this reason, in the monitoring field that requires continuous operation for 24 hours and requires an operation time of 10 years or more, much labor and cost are required for replacing the high-pressure mercury lamp.
。 As a measure for improvement, in a video display device for monitoring using a high-pressure mercury lamp, two high-pressure mercury lamps that have been differentially switched at the time of the life of one of the high-pressure mercury lamps can be used as a whole. The life of the lamp is extended (for example, see Patent Document 1).
。 Alternatively, there is a video display device that uses LEDs as its light source instead of the high-pressure mercury lamp. (For example, refer to Patent Document 2).
However, in the monitoring field that requires continuous operation for 24 hours and requires an operation time of 10 years or more, it is still indispensable to manually replace the light source according to the prior art. The problem that the monitoring was temporarily interrupted by the work was not solved.
The problem to be solved by the present invention is that the life of the light source for the video display device is short, so that it is necessary to replace the light source, and a large maintenance cost is required for manual light source replacement and adjustment. In the point.
In general, “lifetime of a light source” is defined as a point in time when the luminance of light emitted from the light source reaches half or less of the initial luminance. Of course, depending on the case, it may be defined as “life of the light source” with about 40% lower than that.
The present invention has been made based on the recognition of such problems, and its main purpose is to provide a video display device capable of extending the life of the light source for the video display device to the same time as the life of the video display device. The object is to provide a light source switching device.

According to the subject of the present invention, the life of the light source for the video display device can be extended to a time equivalent to the life of the video display device main body. In particular, even when a light source such as an LED in a video display device fails in the 24-hour continuous monitoring field, according to the subject of the present invention, a relatively high speed can be obtained from a failed light source to an alternative light source. Therefore, it is possible to eliminate the period when the image is interrupted and the monitoring image is not displayed on the screen.
Hereinafter, various embodiments of the subject of the present invention will be described in detail along with the effects and advantages thereof with reference to the accompanying drawings.
(Embodiment 1)
FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a configuration of a light source switching device of a video display device according to the present embodiment using a one-chip DMD (Digital Mirror Device) as a light valve. Each optical system is schematically illustrated as a top view. In the present embodiment, there is shown an apparatus example using three LEDs each emitting three primary colors (R: red, G: green, B: blue) as light source elements. . FIG. 2 is a block diagram showing the operation of the light source switching device of FIG. 1, and each component is drawn corresponding to FIG.
In FIG. 1, an AC /
First, the output voltage of the AC /
同一面内の各LED120R(第1R,G,B光源120のR光源),120G(第1R,G,B光源120のG光源),120B(第1R,G,B光源120のB光源)の直後方には、それぞれの光軸が同一平面内で且つ同一水平方向に配列する様に、各LED120R,120G,120Bと一組となって、対応する1枚のコリメータレンズが順次に配設されている。
Each
130を成す様に、各R,G,B色のLED130R(R光源),130G(G光源),130B(B光源)が同一面内に順次に配設されている。
The second LED
On the other hand, since the light flux emitted from the
The parallel light beam emitted from the
In an example of the present embodiment, from the viewpoint of facilitating the arrangement and from the viewpoint of convenience of description, the
The first dichroic mirror 2 is set so as to reflect the light in the R wavelength band emitted from the
In the configuration as described above, the first to third light bundles of the R, G, and B wavelengths emitted by time division from the output side surface of the first dichroic mirror 2 are combined. The white light bundle formed is output. The combined white light flux is then supplied to the
The
As is well known, the
Next, the operation of this apparatus will be described in the case where the R
Then, the
Simultaneously with the above rotation of the first dichroic mirror 2, the power
Thus, instead of the R
Similarly, when it is detected that the G
Similarly, when it is detected that the B
In the example of FIG. 1, the first LED driving
