Description

The present invention relates to an airbag apparatus including an airbag that can cover the front side of a front pillar of a vehicle.

2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, there has been an airbag apparatus configured to inflate and arrange an airbag so as to cover the front side of the front pillar so that the pedestrian does not directly hit the front pillar of the vehicle at the time of collision with the pedestrian of the vehicle. (For example, see Patent Document 1).

In this conventional airbag device, the airbag that has been inflated is divided into three inflatable portions along the left-right direction so that it can be curvedly arranged along the front surface of the front pillar, and the front side of the front pillar Is configured to cover substantially the entire region in the left-right direction.

Further, as an airbag device configured to inflate and arrange the airbag so as to cover the front side of the front pillar, the left and right sides of the main body inflating portion that covers the front side of the front windshield side edge of the front pillar when the inflation is completed Some include an airbag having a configuration in which a support inflating portion interposed between the front pillar and the main body inflating portion is disposed on the outer side in the direction (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
JP 2008-2012266 A JP-A-2005-96686

However, in the airbag device described in Patent Document 1, the airbag that has been inflated is configured so as to substantially follow the curved shape on the front side of the front pillar. Since it is only divided into three inflatable parts along the left-right direction, when the pedestrian moves so as to invade diagonally with respect to the front pillar, the airbag deviates from the front pillar. There was a possibility that the pedestrian could not be received.

In the airbag device described in Patent Document 2, the airbag includes a main body inflating portion and a support inflating portion disposed on the outer side in the left-right direction of the main body inflating portion. This support expansion part is arrange | positioned only in the outward side of the left-right direction. Therefore, although a pedestrian who moves from the front windshield toward the front pillar side can be accurately received by the main body inflating portion supported by the supporting inflating portion, the front windshield side from the front pillar in the reverse direction There is a possibility that a pedestrian who moves toward the road cannot be received smoothly. Further, in the airbag device described in Patent Document 2, the vicinity of the boundary portion between the main body inflating portion and the support inflating portion in the air bag is connected to the inflator, and the inflating gas discharged from the inflator is the main body inflating portion and the supporting inflating. The main body inflatable part could not be inflated quickly and the pedestrian could not be protected quickly.

The present invention solves the above-described problems, and provides an airbag device that can quickly inflate an airbag and that can accurately receive a pedestrian by the airbag that has been inflated. The purpose is to do.

An airbag apparatus according to the present invention is an airbag apparatus including an airbag that can cover a front side of a front pillar of a vehicle, and an inflator that supplies inflation gas to the airbag.
The airbag is configured as a substantially rod-like shape in which the inflation completion shape is substantially along the axial direction of the front pillar,
A main body inflating part configured to cover the front side of the front pillar when the inflation is completed, and connected to the inflator so that the inflating gas discharged from the inflator flows into the inside and is inflatable.
A part of the main body inflatable part is communicated with the main body inflating part so that the inflating gas can flow into the inside through the main body inflating part. An outer supporting inflating portion disposed on the outer peripheral side in the left-right direction and an inner side in the left-right direction side so as to be interposed between the main body inflating portion and the front pillar or a portion in the vicinity of the front pillar so as to support the inflating portion. An inner support inflatable portion disposed on the circumferential side;
Is configured to include,
The airbag is attached to the front pillar side by an attachment belt that extends from the outer support inflatable portion and the inner support inflatable portion and is fastened to the front pillar side.

In the airbag apparatus according to the present invention, the airbag that has been inflated has a main body inflating portion that covers the front side of the front pillar, and in the vicinity of both left and right edges of the main body inflating portion, the main body inflating portion, and the front pillar or the vicinity of the front pillar. The outer support inflating part and the inner support inflating part that are interposed between and support the main body inflating part. Even if it is an aspect that shakes along the direction, both the left and right sides are supported by the outer support inflating portion and the inner support inflating portion that are supported on the rear side at the front pillar or in the vicinity of the front pillar. In the airbag device of the present invention, each of the outer support inflatable portion and the inner support inflatable portion is configured not to communicate with the main body inflatable portion but only part of the main body inflatable portion. In a state in which the mutual movement is suppressed, it is arranged as an independent cell shape with respect to the main body expanding portion. Therefore, each outer support inflatable portion and inner support inflatable portion can support the main body inflatable portion while maintaining a high internal pressure. Therefore, in the airbag device of the present invention, when the inflation of the airbag is completed, the main body inflatable portion is inflated. The portion can be reliably restrained from shaking in the left-right direction by each of the outer support inflating portion and the inner support inflating portion, and can accurately receive the pedestrian.

In the airbag device of the present invention, since the airbag is attached to the front pillar side by an attachment belt that extends from the outer support inflating portion and the inner support inflating portion and is fastened to the front pillar side. The airbag that has been completed is prevented from being displaced with respect to the axial direction of the front pillar, and is disposed so as to cover the front side of the front pillar along the axial direction of the front pillar. Further, in the airbag device of the present invention, only the main body inflating part is connected to the inflator, and each of the outer supporting inflating part and the inner supporting inflating part has a configuration in which an inflating gas flows into the inside through the main body inflating part. For this reason, at the initial stage of inflation of the airbag, the main body inflating portion is first inflated, and then the outer support inflating portion and the inner support inflating portion are inflated. Therefore, the main body inflatable part can be quickly inflated so as to cover the front pillar, and even when the pedestrian moves toward the front pillar at a timing faster than usual, the pedestrian is allowed to complete the expansion. It can be accurately received by the main body expansion part.

Therefore, in the airbag device of the present invention, the airbag can be quickly inflated, and a pedestrian can be accurately received by the airbag that has been inflated.

Further, in the airbag device of the present invention, the attachment belts extending from the respective outer support inflating portions and the inner support inflating portions are arranged at positions facing each other on the left and right direction sides at a plurality of locations along the axial direction of the front pillar. At the same time, if the tips are configured to be fastened together, the mounting belt extending from each outer support inflating portion and the inner support inflating portion is separately attached to the front pillar side. The attachment point can be halved, and the attachment work is facilitated, which is preferable.

Further, in the airbag device having the above-described configuration, the airbag has a shape in which the main body inflating portion, the outer supporting inflating portion, and the inner supporting inflating portion are connected in the left-right direction, and is disposed on the front pillar side when the inflation is completed. A flat side bag having a rear side wall portion and a front side wall portion disposed opposite to the rear side wall portion, and connecting the peripheral edges of the rear side wall portion and the front side wall portion in a flatly developed state. Configure
The main body inflating part, the outer supporting inflating part and the inner supporting inflating part are configured by connecting predetermined portions of the front side wall part and the rear side wall part, which are flatly deployed and overlapped with each other, and along the axial direction of the front pillar. By separating at least one end side in the direction with a connecting portion as a connecting portion that makes the main body inflating portion and the outer supporting inflating portion and the inner supporting inflating portion communicate with each other,
When the inflation of the airbag is completed, the outer support inflatable portion and the inner support inflatable portion are folded back with respect to the main body inflatable portion at the joint portion, respectively, and the main body inflatable portion and the front pillar or a portion in the vicinity of the front pillar It is preferable to adopt a configuration in which they are interposed between the two.

In the airbag device having the above-described configuration, an airbag can be manufactured by stacking the front side wall portion and the rear side wall portion in a flatly deployed state and joining the peripheral edges with a suture thread, an adhesive, or the like. Manufacturing workability is good and manufacturing man-hours and costs can be reduced. Further, in the airbag device having the above-described configuration, the airbag is located at a joint portion that divides the main body inflating portion, the outer supporting inflating portion, and the inner supporting inflating portion, and the main body inflating portion, each outer supporting inflating portion, and inner supporting inflating portion. In addition, the main body inflates when the airbag is completely inflated, since the inflating is completed in a state where each outer supporting inflating portion and the inner supporting inflating portion are folded with respect to the main body inflating portion. The communication part that connects the outer part, each outer support inflating part and the inner support inflating part is closed by a crease that continues from the coupling part. The mutual movement of the expansion gas between the support expansion portions can be further suppressed.

Furthermore, in the airbag device having the above-described configuration, the two connecting portions that divide the main body inflating portion, the outer supporting inflating portion, and the inner supporting inflating portion are configured to have different width dimensions in the left-right direction in a flattened state. Then, if the outer joint part that partitions the main body inflating part and the outer support inflating part is configured to set the width dimension in the left-right direction larger than the inner joint part that partitions the main body inflating part and the inner inflating part, When the airbag is deployed and inflated, a large distance can be secured between the outer support inflating portion located on the outer peripheral side and the main body inflating portion. Therefore, even when the outer panel of the vehicle constituting the front pillar is configured to have a taper shape that is inclined rearwardly outwardly in the cross section in the direction perpendicular to the axis of the front pillar, The outer support inflating part located on the outer peripheral side can be supported by the outer panel constituting the front pillar, which is preferable.

Furthermore, in the airbag device having the above-described configuration, the outer coupling portion and the inner coupling portion are configured from a stitched portion where the front side wall portion and the rear side wall portion are sewn using a suture thread, and the outer coupling portion or the inner side coupling portion is formed. If the coupling part is configured so that it can be broken when the internal pressure of the main body inflating part rises when the airbag is completely inflated, the inflation gas flows in between the front and rear side walls at the time of breaking. As a result, the volume of the airbag itself can be increased, and the internal pressure can be reduced. Therefore, it can prevent pressing a pedestrian unnecessarily.

Specifically, if the outer coupling portion or the inner coupling portion is configured as a substantially annular body, the expansion gas flows into the region surrounded by the sutured portion at the time of breakage and expands at the time of breakage. It is preferable because a large volume of the portion into which the working gas is introduced can be secured.

Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, an airbag apparatus M according to the embodiment includes a left and right front pillar FP portion of a vehicle V and a front pillar FP. It is mounted across the front fender FF area. Specifically, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the folded airbag 18 is housed in a portion of the front pillar FP, and the inflator 13 that supplies inflation gas to the airbag 18 includes the portion of the front fender FF. It is stored in.

In the present specification, the front-rear, up-down, left-right directions are based on the axial direction of the front pillar FP, and unless otherwise specified, the direction along the axial direction of the front pillar FP is defined as the up-down direction. The direction substantially along the front-rear direction that is the axis orthogonal direction of the pillar FP is the front-rear direction, and the direction substantially along the left-right direction that is the axis orthogonal direction of the front pillar FP is the left-right direction.

In the embodiment, the airbag apparatus M including an airbag that covers the front side of the front pillar FP located on the left side of the vehicle V will be described in detail. Since the airbag apparatus provided with the airbag covering the front side of the right front pillar FP has the same configuration as the left airbag apparatus and has the same configuration, the description of the right airbag apparatus is omitted. To do.

As shown in FIG. 3, the front pillar FP includes an outer panel 1 made of a steel plate, an inner panel 2, and a reinforcement 3 arranged between the outer panel 1 and the inner panel 2. Therefore, the structure of the vehicle V has high rigidity. Further, on the front side of the outer panel 1 in the front pillar FP, a sheet metal outer cover 4 that covers the entire front surface side of the outer panel 1 over substantially the entire region is disposed. 1 to 3 is a front window disposed on the inner peripheral side I (right side of the left front pillar FP) in the left-right direction of the front pillar FP, and the member denoted by reference numeral 7 is This is a seal rubber that closes the gap between the outer cover 4 and the front window 6 of the front pillar FP. 3 is a door weather strip interposed between the front pillar FP and a front door (not shown). Moreover, the member shown with the code | symbol 9 in FIG. 1 is a hood panel, and the member shown with the code | symbol 10 is a front bumper.

The airbag device M includes an airbag 18 that can cover the front surface FPa side of the front pillar FP, and an inflator 13 that supplies inflation gas to the airbag 18.

As described above, the inflator 13 can supply inflation gas to the airbag 18 folded and housed in the area of the front pillar FP, and the vehicle side such as a hood ridge rein hose (not shown) of the front fender FF in the vehicle V The connection pipe 14 is connected to the connection port portion 22 of the airbag 18 by using the clamp 15 to be connected to the airbag 18 (see FIG. 2). The inflator 13 inputs an operation signal from a predetermined airbag operation circuit, and supplies inflation gas to the airbag 18 through the connection pipe 14. The main body inflating portion 21 is inflated by inflating the inflating gas into the inside, and the outer cover 4 is bent at the hinge portion 4b to push open the right edge portion 4a. The right edge portion 4a, the seal rubber 7, The bag body 19 of the airbag 18 protrudes from the opening formed by moving the airbag 18 and expands and inflates, and the inflation is completed as shown by the two-dot chain line in FIGS. 1 to 3 and FIGS. .

In the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the airbag main body 19 of the airbag 18 that has been inflated has a main body inflating portion 21 that covers the front FPa side of the front pillar FP, a left edge 21a of the main body inflating portion 21, and a right In the vicinity of the edge 21b, an outer support expansion portion 24 and an inner support expansion portion 25 that are interposed between the main body expansion portion 21 and the front pillar FP or the front window 6 in the vicinity of the front pillar FP and support the main body expansion portion 21; Therefore, even when the main body inflating portion 21 is shaken along the circumferential direction (left-right direction) of the front pillar FP when receiving the pedestrian, the front pillar FP or the front window 6, the left and right sides are supported by the outer support expansion portion 24 and the inner support expansion portion 25 that support the rear surfaces 24a and 25a. In the case of the embodiment, the outer support inflating portion 24 is supported by the front pillar FP via the open right edge portion 4 a of the outer cover 4. More specifically, in the airbag apparatus M according to the embodiment, as shown in FIG. 7, when the airbag 18 is completely inflated, the main body inflating part 21 itself is disposed in a state where the rear surface 21e is not in contact with the front pillar FP. However, the main body expansion portion 21 is supported by the front pillar FP or the front window 6 via the outer support expansion portion 24 and the inner support expansion portion 25 on the left edge 21a and right edge 21b side. . Therefore, when the airbag 18 is completely inflated, a pedestrian located in front of the front pillar FP contacts the pedestrian when moving toward the rear side substantially along the front-rear direction. The main body expansion part 21 is supported by the outer support expansion part 24 and the inner support expansion part 25 while moving backward, and receives the pedestrian. Further, when the airbag 18 is completely inflated, if the pedestrian moves from the diagonally left front, the main body inflating portion 21 that contacts the pedestrian moves diagonally to the left, It will be supported by the support expansion part 25 and will receive a pedestrian. Conversely, when the airbag 18 is completely inflated, if the pedestrian moves from the right front side, the main body inflating portion 21 that comes into contact with the pedestrian moves to the right rear side. It will be supported by the outer side support expansion part 24, and a pedestrian will be received.

Further, in the airbag device of the embodiment, the outer support inflating portion 24 and the inner support inflating portion 25 are communicated with the main body inflating portion 21 only at the portions of the communication portions 27 and 28 on both the upper and lower ends, not the whole. For this reason, when expansion is completed, the expansion gas is arranged as an independent cell with respect to the main body expansion portion 21 in a state where mutual movement of the expansion gas is suppressed. Therefore, since the outer support inflating part 24 and the inner support inflating part 25 can support the main body inflating part 21 in a state where a high internal pressure is maintained, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the inflation of the airbag 18 is completed. Sometimes, even when the main body inflating portion 21 is not in direct contact with the front pillar FP, the outer support inflating portion 24 and the inner support inflating portion 25 can reliably suppress the lateral movement and walk. Can be taken accurately.

Further, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the airbag 18 is attached to the front pillar FP side by the attachment belt 37 that extends from the outer support inflatable portion 24 and the inner support inflatable portion 25 and is fastened to the front pillar FP side. Therefore, the airbag 18 that has been inflated is prevented from being displaced with respect to the axial direction of the front pillar FP, and covers the front surface FPa of the front pillar FP along the axial direction of the front pillar FP. Will be disposed. In particular, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the attachment belt 37 is formed at a plurality of locations (three locations in the embodiment) along the axial direction (vertical direction) of the front pillar FP. It is possible to accurately prevent the completed airbag 18 from being displaced with respect to the axial direction of the front pillar FP. Further, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, only the main body inflating part 21 is connected to the inflator 13, and the outer supporting inflating part 24 and the inner supporting inflating part 25 are inflated to the inside via the main body inflating part 21. Therefore, in the initial stage of inflation of the airbag 18, the main body inflating portion 21 is first inflated, and then the outer support inflating portion 24 and the inner support inflating portion 25 are inflated. Therefore, the main body inflating portion 21 can be quickly inflated so as to cover the front pillar FP, and even when the pedestrian moves toward the front pillar FP at a timing faster than usual, the pedestrian is inflated. Can be accurately received by the main body inflating portion 21 that has completed the above.

Therefore, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the airbag 18 can be quickly inflated, and a pedestrian can be accurately received by the airbag 18 that has been inflated.

Further, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the attachment belts 37 extending from the outer support inflating portions 24 and the inner support inflating portions 25 are disposed at positions facing each other in the left-right direction, and the tips 37a are fastened together. Since it is a structure, compared with the case where the attachment belt 37 extended from each outer side support expansion part 24 and the inner side support expansion part 25 is separately attached to the front pillar FP side, the attachment point to the front pillar FP side of the attachment belt 37 is provided. It can be halved, and the installation work becomes easy.

Furthermore, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the bag body 19 (airbag 18) is constituted by a planar bag in which the peripheral edges of the rear side wall portion 19b and the front side wall portion 19a in a flatly deployed state are combined. The bag body 19 (airbag 18) can be manufactured by stacking the front side wall portion 19a and the rear side wall portion 19b in a flattened state and joining the peripheral edges with the suture thread T1. Therefore, the manufacturing workability of the airbag is good, and the number of manufacturing steps and cost can be reduced. Further, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the airbag 18 is provided at the site of the outer coupling portion 31 and the inner coupling portion 34 that divide the main body inflating portion 21 from the outer supporting inflating portion 24 and the inner supporting inflating portion 25. The main body inflating part 21 is provided with communication parts 27 and 28 that allow the outer side supporting inflating part 24 and the inner side supporting inflating part 25 to communicate with each other. Since the inflation is completed in the folded state, when the airbag 18 is completely inflated, the communication parts 27 and 28 for communicating the main body inflating part 21 with the outer supporting inflating part 24 and the inner supporting inflating part 25 are provided outside. An expansion gas between the main body expansion portion 21 and each of the outer support expansion portion 24 and the inner support expansion portion 25 is obtained when the expansion is completed. of The each other movement, can be suppressed even more.

Furthermore, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the two outer coupling portions 31 and the inner coupling portion 34 that divide the main body inflating portion 21 from the outer supporting inflating portions 24 and the inner supporting inflating portion 25 are flattened. The outer joint portion 31 that is configured to have different width dimensions in the left-right direction and divides the main body inflating portion 21 and the outer support inflating portion 24 is formed into an oval annular shape, and the main body inflating portion 21 and the inner support Since it is configured to have an oval shape in which the width dimension in the left-right direction is set larger than that of the inner coupling portion 34 that divides the inflatable portion 25, the outer support inflatable portion is expanded when the airbag 18 is deployed and inflated. The distance between 24 and the main body inflating part 21 can be secured widely. Therefore, the outer panel 1 of the vehicle V that constitutes the front pillar FP (in the case of the embodiment, the outer cover 4 that covers the front side of the outer panel 1) faces rearward outward in the cross-section in the direction perpendicular to the axis of the front pillar FP. Even when the air bag 18 is configured to be tapered after being inclined (see FIG. 3), the outer support inflating portion 24 can be supported by the outer cover 4 constituting the front pillar FP when the airbag 18 is completely inflated. Of course, if this point is not taken into consideration, the lateral width of the outer coupling portion does not have to be set larger than the lateral width of the inner coupling portion, and the lateral direction of the outer coupling portion and the inner coupling portion does not have to be set. The width dimensions may be set substantially the same. In the embodiment, the inner coupling portion is simply linear, but the inner coupling portion may be oval like the outer coupling portion.

Furthermore, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, a part of the outer coupling portion 31 is separated by the suture thread T2 that can be broken when the internal pressure of the main body inflating portion 21 is increased when the inflating of the airbag 18 (bag main body 19) is completed. It is configured by sewing. The outer coupling portion 31 is an annular body. Therefore, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, as shown in FIG. 9, the internal pressure of the main body inflating portion 21 suddenly increases as the pedestrian P hits the main body inflating portion 21 that has been inflated at a high speed. When this occurs, the suture thread T2 constituting the stitched portion 32 in the outer coupling portion 31 is broken, and the front side wall portion 19a and the rear side wall portion 19b are moved from the portion of the opening 31b to the inside of the outer coupling portion 31. The expansion gas G flows in such a manner as to be separated from each other (see B in FIG. 8 and FIG. 9). As a result, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the volume of the airbag 18 itself can be increased, the internal pressure can be reduced, and the pedestrian can be prevented from being unnecessarily pressed. Of course, if such a point is not taken into consideration, the outer coupling portion 31 may not be configured to be ruptureable.

In particular, in the embodiment, since the outer coupling portion 31 is configured as a substantially annular body, when the suture thread T2 is broken, the inflation gas G flows into the region surrounded by the suture portion in an annular shape. Thus, it is possible to secure a large volume of the portion into which the expansion gas G flows when breaking. Of course, if such a point is not taken into consideration, a part of the inner coupling portion 34 that is linear may be configured to be ruptured.

In the airbag apparatus M according to the embodiment, each of the outer support inflating portion 24 and the inner support inflating portion 25 is composed of one rod-shaped cell. However, the outer support inflating portion and the inner support inflating portion have the same shape. For example, it may be configured from two rod-shaped cells arranged in parallel in the left-right direction. Further, in the airbag apparatus M of the embodiment, the attachment belt 37 is arranged in a belt shape so that the outer support inflatable portion 24 and the inner support inflatable portion 25 at the time of completion of inflation are towable at three locations on the upper and lower ends and near the center. As an attachment belt, for example, the outer support inflatable portion and the inner support inflatable portion can be pulled over the entire width in the vertical direction, and the width dimension is substantially the same as the vertical width dimension of the airbag. You may use the thing which is made to make it wide.
