Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a nuclear medicine diagnostic apparatus, and more particularly to a nuclear medicine diagnostic apparatus that detects gamma rays, identifies the location where the gamma rays are generated, and images the spatial distribution of the gamma ray source.
Nuclear medicine tests are also called RI (R-eye) tests, and are drugs (radiopharmaceuticals) that combine a small amount of radioisotope (radioisotope: RI) with drugs that gather specifically in human organs and tissues. ) Is used to check whether there are lesions in the organs or tissues of the human body.
In other words, radiopharmaceuticals collected in human organs and tissues are radiation (radioisotope: RI) released from the body to the outside of the body from a small amount of radioisotope (radioisotope: RI). Images) using a dedicated camera called a gamma camera (which detects gamma (γ) rays from a plurality of radiation), and how the shape of the human body organs and how the organs and tissues work Inspect whether it is.
In this way, nuclear medicine examination is an element that emits radiation (radioactive = radio) among elements with the same chemical properties but different weight (isotope = isotope), that is, a very small amount of radiation (gamma (γ) rays) A radioisotope-containing drug (radiopharmaceutical) is released into the body by injection, etc., and the gamma rays emitted from the drug taken into the organ or lesion are photographed from outside the body with a high-sensitivity camera. It is characterized by inspecting the inside of an invisible human body.
Typical nuclear medicine diagnostic apparatuses include a PET apparatus based on positron tomography and a SPECT apparatus based on single photon emission tomography.
In recent years, PET apparatuses have been developed as one of cancer testing methods and are now mainstream. This positron emission tomography (PET) is a nuclear medicine diagnostic method that administers a radiopharmaceutical labeled with a radioisotope that emits positron to a subject. This is a test method for diagnosing the presence or absence of a lesion by imaging the distribution of emitted radiation on a tomographic image with a PET camera and projecting an organ or tissue on the image.
That is, if a radiopharmaceutical labeled with a radioisotope is administered to a subject, the distribution of radiation released from the radiopharmaceutical reflects physiological biochemical functions such as blood flow and metabolism in the organ. By photographing the distribution of radiation from outside the body with a PET camera, it is possible to measure diseases such as blood flow and metabolism of the organ and diagnose the disease.
The positron emitted from the radiopharmaceutical collides with the electron and disappears. Two annihilation gamma rays generated at this time are detected by the PET scanner. This PET scanner has thousands of detectors arranged on a ring, surrounds a subject, and fits in a gantry, and has an appearance similar to that of an X-ray CT scanner.
The fact that cancer cells have the property that FDG, which is an analog of glucose (glucose) 3 to 8 times that of normal cells, is very well taken up by cancer cells with anaerobic sugar metabolism. well known. In PET examination, FDG is marked with a radioisotope and injected into the body, and the whole body is photographed with PET. Then, you can see where many FDGs gather and discover cancer.
In Patent Document 1, a rotating scepter 20 provided inside a detection unit 10 includes nine shield plates S 1 to S 9 arranged in parallel to each other at positions between adjacent detector rings R. Only the photon pairs that collimate and fly parallel to the slice plane are incident on the photon detector D behind them, and each shield plate S is not ring-shaped but N pieces constituting each detector ring R Some of the photon detectors D are provided on the measurement visual field 1 side, the rotary scepter 20 is rotatable about the central axis, and the rod-like positron emission source 3 is inserted into each shield plate S. Rod-shaped radiation source insertion holes 20a and 20b that can be supported are provided.
Thus, in a nuclear medicine examination, a radiopharmaceutical is administered to a subject, and the distribution of the medicine (radiopharmaceutical) that specifically collects in an organ or tissue inside the subject is examined using a nuclear medicine diagnostic device. Has been done.
Usually, when examining an organ or tissue in the body of a subject, since it is not known which organ or tissue in the human body the lesion is lurking, the whole body of the subject is photographed. When photographing the whole body of the subject, the burden on the subject is large. Therefore, in order to reduce the burden on the subject as much as possible, it is best to use a camera having a visual field covering the whole body of the subject.
However, a camera with a field of view that covers the entire body of the subject is large in size, and the number of detection elements to be detected at one time is enormous, which increases the cost of the device itself and the inspection costs borne by the subject. Will also be big.
Therefore, currently, when photographing the whole body of a subject, photographing is performed in a plurality of times using a camera having a relatively small visual field. Thus, in order to divide a plurality of times with a camera having a relatively small field of view, it is necessary to move the subject or the camera.
The PET apparatus of Patent Document 1 uses the camera having such a relatively small field of view and shoots the entire body of the subject in a plurality of times.
For this reason, since Patent Document 1 is a device with a narrow field of view, a plurality of times of photographing are performed, and there is a problem that the photographing time increases.
An object of the present invention is to provide a nuclear medicine diagnostic apparatus capable of reducing the time required for whole body imaging of a subject.
In the present invention, whole body imaging of a subject is performed using an advanced Compton camera. The advanced Compton camera in the present invention is a gamma ray detector that can uniquely determine the direction of incident gamma rays by Compton scattering kinematics.
This advanced Compton camera is a radiopharmaceutical containing radioisotopes administered to a subject that specifically gathers in human organs and tissues, and is contained in the drug from the collection site of radiopharmaceuticals collected in these organs and tissues. Arbitrary gamma rays radiated from the radioactive isotope (RI) to the outside of the body are Compton scattered by the front detector, and the Compton scattered gamma rays are detected by the rear detector, and the gamma rays are detected by the front detector. Detects recoiled electrons.
This Advanced Compton camera emits a small amount of radioisotope (RI) contained in the drug from the radiopharmaceutical accumulation site to the outside of the body based on the kinematic information of the scattered gamma rays and recoil electrons. The incident direction of the arbitrary gamma rays to the detector is calculated, and the location where the gamma rays are generated is estimated on the calculated direction line.
The Advanced Compton camera is configured to reconstruct an image based on the gamma ray direction information obtained from the radiopharmaceutical accumulation site in this way, and to acquire an in-vivo distribution image of the radioisotope.
Unlike the conventional PET device, the Advanced Compton camera is a gamma ray to be measured (arbitrary gamma rays emitted from the radiopharmaceutical accumulation point to the outside of the body from a small amount of radioisotope (RI) contained in the drug). ) On the other hand, there is no geometric limitation on the direction of incidence.
In addition, unlike the conventional PET device, the Advanced Compton camera detects gamma rays (arbitrary gamma rays emitted from the radiopharmaceutical accumulation site to the outside of a trace amount of radioisotope (RI) contained in the drug). It is possible to measure gamma rays incident on the instrument portion at an arbitrary angle.
For this reason, the Advanced Compton camera has a wider field of view than the conventional PET apparatus.

[First Embodiment]
FIG. 2 shows a first embodiment of the nuclear medicine diagnostic apparatus according to the present invention.
The first embodiment shown in FIG. 2 is a nuclear
A plurality of detector heads 100 of the first embodiment shown in FIG. 2 constitute one segment of the

An example of whole body imaging of a subject using the conventional PET apparatus shown in FIG. 6B and a whole body imaging of the subject using the nuclear medicine

[Second Embodiment]
FIG. 7 shows a second embodiment of the nuclear medicine diagnostic apparatus according to the present invention.
The first embodiment of the nuclear medicine diagnosis apparatus shown in FIG. 2 shows a case where the
On the other hand, in the second embodiment shown in FIG. 7, as shown in FIG. 7A, a plurality of detector heads 100-1, 100-2, 100-3, 100-4 (second embodiment). In the form, 4 pieces) are administered with a radiopharmaceutical labeled with a radioisotope, and are arranged in an annular shape around the subject 101 lying on a bed (examination table) 150 at intervals of 90 °. A
A plurality of detector heads 100-1, 100-2, 100-3, 100-4 of the second embodiment shown in FIG. 7 are paired with the detector head 100-1 and the detector head 100-2. A detection means pair is formed, and a detection means pair in which the detector head 100-3 and the detector head 100-4 make a pair is formed.
Then, the plurality of detector heads 100-1, 100-2, 100-3, 100-4 of the second embodiment shown in FIG. 7 are arranged on the subject 101 side as shown in FIG. A front-
As described above, in the four detector heads 100, the detector head 100-1 and the detector head 100-2 make a pair, and the detector head 100-3 and the detector head 100-4 make a pair. Yes. The opposing axis of the pair of detector head 100-1 and detector head 100-2 and the opposing axis of the pair of detector head 100-3 and detector head 100-4 are crossed. Are arranged in a shape.
Further, as shown in FIG. 8, the four
Here, “difference” means that the four detector heads 100-1, 100-2, 100-3, 100-4 are arranged so that the central axes of the visual fields of the detector heads do not coincide with each other. Means.
Therefore, the detector head 100-1 and the detector head 100-2 are composed of the detector head 100-1 perpendicular to the body axis of the subject 101 lying on the bed (examination table) 150, as shown in FIG. The detector head 100-2 is arranged in a state shifted by half of the detector head 100-1 so that the center line coincides with the edge of the detector head 100-2.
Similarly, the detector head 100-3 and the detector head 100-4 are composed of a
In the second embodiment illustrated in FIG. 7, an example in which the number of detector heads is four is particularly described. However, the number of detector heads does not necessarily have to be four, and it is sufficient that at least two detector heads are provided, and the arrangement of the detector heads may be “difference”.
