Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a power supply device and an image forming apparatus.
Image forming apparatuses such as printers and copiers uniformly charge a photosensitive member with a charging device, and form an electrostatic latent image with an exposure device. The electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor is developed by a developing device, and the developed toner image is transferred to a sheet by a transfer device. Further, after the transfer to the paper, the paper is peeled off from the photoreceptor or the transfer device by a peeling device, and an image is output.
For example, in a color printing apparatus, a so-called image forming unit of a photoreceptor, a charging device, a developing device, and a transfer device is configured for each color of yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (K). Each of these is operated to perform color printing.
An electrophotographic printer / copier has a high voltage power source for applying a specified voltage or current to a load such as a charging device, a developing device, or a transfer device. The voltage or current is supplied for processing such as charging, development, transfer, peeling, and cleaning. Recent printers, copiers, etc. are being colorized and speeded up against the background of demand for high functionality in the market. In order to meet the demand, a tandem engine that prepares a photoreceptor and blocks including charging, developing, and transfer functions for each color (for example, YMCK color) and prints paper in one pass is becoming mainstream. The advantage of the tandem type is that multiple colors (for example, four colors of YMCK) can be printed at one time, so that the same speed performance as a black and white machine can be realized.
As a transfer device, for example, in a secondary transfer device that transfers a toner image from an intermediate transfer belt on which a negative polarity toner image is formed onto a sheet, a backup roll that faces a secondary transfer roll that is grounded with the intermediate transfer belt interposed therebetween A bias is applied by a power supply device as a high voltage power source. -In the case of bias, the negative polarity toner repels and is transferred to the transfer roll side, that is, to the paper. In the case of + bias, it becomes a cleaning (CLN) bias. This cleaning bias is applied to leave a batch on the intermediate transfer belt so that the secondary transfer roll is not soiled by a density control patch formed between toner images.
In such a power supply device that applies voltages of different polarities, a switch in which two converters (power supply circuit) for positive / negative output are connected in series and two converters (power supply circuit) for positive / negative output are connected in parallel. There is something to connect through.
For example, the first power supply circuit for positive / negative output and the output of the second power supply circuit are connected in series with a bias resistor, and the first and second power supply circuits having different polarities are selected and output. Some are disclosed in Document 1 and
In the above-described transfer apparatus, in an image forming apparatus having a tandem configuration in which high-speed polarity switching response is particularly required, for example, as shown in FIG. 4, a toner image such as an image on an intermediate transfer member formed by a primary transfer unit Is used as a secondary transfer device for transferring the image to a sheet-like recording medium such as paper.
When a bias is applied to the backup roll in the transfer device as described above, a transfer bias (−) for transferring toner to a sheet-like recording medium such as paper, and a density control patch as a secondary transfer device at the time of non-transfer Two power supply circuit outputs with a cleaning (CLN) bias (+) are connected in series with a bias resistor so as not to adhere to the transfer roll, and the first and second power supply circuits having outputs with different polarities are selected and switched. Therefore, it is supplied to the backup roll as a load.
With the increase in speed, the requirement for the polarity switching time has become strict, and it has been found that it is difficult to satisfy the requirement with the prior art apparatus. When the polarity switching from-to + is delayed, toner that forms a patch adheres to the transfer roll and the back side of the paper becomes dirty. Although the transfer roll has a cleaning device, it cannot be cleaned when the density of the attached patch is high. If the polarity switching from + to-is delayed, an image quality defect due to poor transfer to the paper is caused.
On the other hand, as a power supply device having a configuration in which positive and negative converters are connected in parallel via a switch, there is one disclosed in Patent Document 3. In such a parallel connection type, noise is generated when the output is switched by the switch, and measures for the device and peripheral devices are required. Further, the switching device and the noise countermeasure are increased in size, and the switching speed is limited.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to provide a power supply apparatus that improves polarity responsiveness without complicating the circuit in a power supply apparatus that performs polarity switching, and an image forming apparatus to which the power supply apparatus is applied.

The configuration of the
The
The − +
The interrupt
Next, the operation of the power supply device according to this embodiment configured as described above will be described.
First, the transfer will be described. At the time of transfer, a selection signal for selecting a transfer signal (-output selection signal) is input to the
The transfer signal is also input to the constant
When a negative output is generated on the secondary side of the
Next, the non-transfer time (cleaning time) will be described. During non-transfer, a non-transfer (cleaning signal) selection signal is input to the − +
5A is a graph showing the output waveform of the conventional power supply device shown in FIG. 3, and FIG. 5B is a graph showing the output waveform of the power supply device according to the embodiment of the present invention. In the output waveform of FIG. 5B, when the output voltage (for example, −8.5 KV), that is, the transfer bias is switched to the + output voltage (for example, +710 V), that is, the cleaning (CLN) bias, the interrupt
The overshoot control will be described with an easy-to-understand example. When the + output PWM signal has a duty of 100%, assuming that it is 1 kV, a duty of 70%, and 700 V, the D /
A transfer voltage for transferring toner to a sheet as a recording medium is a large bias compared to a cleaning (CLN) voltage. Therefore, at the time of polarity switching from transfer (−output) to CLN (+ output), the amount of negative charge accumulated in the rectifying / smoothing
As shown in the output waveform of FIG. 5B, the potential at the point A immediately after the CLN bias switching is higher than the set voltage, and rises like an overshoot. As a result, the rise of the supply voltage to the load is also improved as compared with the conventional example, and the polarity switching time is shortened (6 ms reduction from 15 ms to 9 ms as shown in FIG. 6).
In this embodiment, the
As described above, in this embodiment, in order to apply overshoot to the + output voltage, the interrupt
FIG. 8 is a circuit diagram showing a configuration example of a power supply device according to a modification of the present invention. Differences from the configuration of FIG. 1 will be described. This modification is an example in which overshoot is controlled on the side of the external control unit that inputs a − + output switching signal and a + output PWM signal to the
The operation of the modification of the present invention will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. On the external control unit side, first, a signal for switching from -output to + output is sent to the
