Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an electrophotographic photosensitive member, an image forming method using the same, and an image forming apparatus.
An electrophotographic photoreceptor (hereinafter simply referred to as a photoreceptor) is required to have required sensitivity, electrical characteristics, and optical characteristics according to the electrophotographic process used. In particular, an area farthest from the support called a surface layer is directly subjected to an electrical or mechanical external force by charging, exposure, development, transfer, cleaning, etc. Durability to maintain stable performance is required. Specifically, it is required to have sufficient durability against surface wear and scratches due to rubbing, deterioration due to ozone and nitrogen oxides generated during charging, and the like.
Further, the electrostatic latent image formed on the surface of the photoconductor is developed with toner, and after the toner image formed by development is transferred, cleaning for removing residual toner is performed. However, if cleaning is repeated for a long period of time, the cleaning performance deteriorates, causing problems such as toner adhesion to the surface of the photoconductor and accumulation of foreign substances such as external additives detached from the toner, which stabilizes the cleaning performance. It was also required to maintain the performance.
Under these circumstances, in order to maintain and improve the cleaning performance, a technique for improving the mechanical strength by providing a protective layer on the surface of the photoreceptor has been studied. For example, a technique for increasing the surface hardness of a photoreceptor to improve the durability against abrasion and scratches by forming a protective layer on the surface of the photoreceptor using a crosslinking reaction of a curable resin has been studied (for example, Patent Documents). 1). In addition, studies have been made to maintain and improve cleaning properties by forming a protective layer with a resin formed by crosslinking a polymer having fluorine atoms or silicon atoms (see, for example, Patent Document 2). .
Further, inorganic fine particles such as silica are dispersed in the surface layer to improve the mechanical strength (for example, see Patent Document 3). Photoreceptors on which a protective layer is formed by utilizing these cross-linking reactions have exhibited stable cleaning performance due to improved mechanical strength of the surface, but this has an effect on the electrical characteristics of the surface of the photoreceptor. . In particular, it has been found that when image formation is performed in a high temperature and high humidity environment, corona products such as ozone and nitrogen oxide generated by repeated charging tend to adhere to the surface of the photoreceptor. When these substances adhere to the surface of the photoconductor, the surface resistance of the photoconductor is reduced, causing image defects such as image flow.
An object of the present invention is to provide an electrophotographic photosensitive member that does not cause image defects in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment, is excellent in durability and scratch resistance, and is excellent in transferability.

According to the present invention, it is possible to obtain an electrophotographic photosensitive member that does not cause image defects in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment, is excellent in durability and scratch resistance, and is excellent in transferability.
The present invention relates to an electrophotographic photosensitive member in which a photosensitive layer and a protective layer are formed in this order on a conductive support. The present inventors include a composition obtained by reacting a silica fine particle having a polymerizable unsaturated group with an organic compound having a reactive group capable of forming a chemical bond with the silica fine particle. It has been found that the problems of the present invention are solved. That is, according to the present invention, even if silica particles are contained in the protective layer, an image defect does not occur in a high-temperature and high-humidity environment, and the electrophotographic photosensitive member is excellent in durability, scratch resistance, and transferability. It was found that can be obtained.
The reason why the problems of the present invention can be solved by the electrophotographic photosensitive member having the protective layer having the above-described configuration is considered as follows. That is, by introducing reactive groups on the surface of the silica fine particles, unreacted acryloyl groups around the silica fine particles react with the reactive groups on the surface of the silica fine particles, making it difficult for discharge products such as ozone and nitrogen oxides to be adsorbed. Therefore, it is considered that the image defect is improved. Furthermore, the reason why the transferability is improved is considered that one of the factors is that the crosslinking density is increased by introducing a reactive group on the surface of the silica fine particles.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail.
The electrophotographic photoreceptor according to the present invention has a structure in which at least a photosensitive layer and a protective layer are sequentially laminated on a conductive support, and the protective layer has silica fine particles having a polymerizable unsaturated group, and the silica. In an environment of 30 ° C. and 80% RH in a bizhub C6500PRO manufactured by Konica Minolta, the power supply was turned off while the photoconductor was mounted, and left for 2 days. The members around the photoconductor are in a state in which the operation is only stopped during this period, that is, the members such as the cleaning blade, the cleaning roller, and the developer conveying member are kept in contact with the photoconductor. Thereafter, the surface of the photoreceptor was observed to observe the presence or absence of cracks. Moreover, image evaluation was also performed, and the presence or absence of generation of streak-like image defects due to the occurrence of cracks was also evaluated.
A: 100 photoconductors were evaluated, and no cracks or streak-like image defects were observed. ○: 100 photoconductors were evaluated, and fine cracks were generated, but streak-like image defects were observed. X: 100 photoconductors were evaluated, and cracks and streak-like image defects were observed. The above results are shown in Table 2.
