Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a converter including a configuration that performs high-precision A / D conversion, D / A conversion, A / D conversion, and D / A conversion in combination with a digital filter.
There are already storage and playback systems and transmission / reception systems that convert analog audio signals such as voice and music into digital signals, store or transmit them, and reproduce the stored contents or receive digital signals into analog audio signals. Various proposals have been made and put into practical use. The audio signal has, for example, a wide dynamic range in a band of about 0 to 20 kHz or more, and an A / D converter that converts such an analog signal into a digital signal has an accuracy of 12 bits or 14 bits. However, due to advances in semiconductor circuit technology and the like, a 24-bit precision configuration has been put into practical use. In addition, the sampling frequency of CDs (compact discs) for storing and playing music, etc. is 44.1 kHz, and the band is less than half of the sampling frequency, so the CD band is about 20 kHz. It is. In the fixed telephone network, the sampling frequency is 8 kHz, which is converted into an 8-bit digital signal according to a broken line coding rule and transmitted, and the band is 3.4 kHz or less. In the broadcasting system, the transmission band is set to 15 kHz or less, and in the transmission system for distributing the broadcast content, for example, the digital signal has an 11-bit configuration based on a 32 kHz sampling broken line coding rule.
FIG. 10 is an explanatory diagram of a conventional example in which an analog audio signal is converted into a digital signal and transmitted / received, where 101 is a coupling transformer, 102 is a filter for anti-aliasing, 103 is a ΔΣ A / D converter, 104 is a digital filter, 105 is a linear / A-law conversion unit, 106 is a digital transmission / reception interface unit (HSD), 110 is a transmission / reception unit, 111 is a coupling transformer, 112 is a post filter, 113 is a ΔΣ D / A converter , 114 is a digital filter, and 115 is an A-law / linear converter.

FIG. 11 is an explanatory diagram of the A / D converter side in FIG. 10, and FIG. 11A is a diagram illustrating a
One advantage of the ΔΣ method of A / D conversion is that the configuration of the anti-aliasing filter is simplified by oversampling. For example, when an analog signal is sampled at 32 kHz and A / D converted, it is necessary not to input a frequency that is 1/2 or more of the sampling frequency fs. That is, if a signal having a frequency that is 1/2 or more of the sampling frequency fs is input, aliasing noise occurs and a signal that is 1/2 or less of the sampling frequency fs leaks. In fact, it is almost impossible to design a filter that allows a band up to 15 kHz without loss and gives a loss of, for example, 100 dB at 16 kHz with an analog circuit. The good point of oversampling is that, for example, if the sampling frequency is 8 MHz, a circuit that allows a band up to 15 kHz to pass without loss and gives a loss of 100 dB at 8 MHz can be easily designed. For example, if the cut-off frequency is set to 150 kHz, it is possible to realize a configuration that causes a loss of 100 dB at 1.5 MHz by a fifth-order filter. With such a configuration, the level can be reduced to 100 dB or less at 8 MHz, which is several times higher than 1.5 MHz.
Further, the upper waveform in FIG. 11B shows an image obtained by sampling an analog waveform at 8 MHz, and the spectrum of the oversampled data is originally up to 20 kHz as shown in the upper row of (C). And a spectrum extending to 20 kHz on both sides of the sampling frequency of 8 MHz. If there is a noise component around 8 MHz of the input analog signal, the spectrum component of the noise component is included in the audible range of 0 to 20 kHz by 8 MHz oversampling. It is necessary to remove the component signal.
In addition, the

FIG. 13 shows characteristics of an example of an A / D converter for an audio signal formed into a semiconductor integrated circuit that is currently manufactured and sold. The vertical axis indicates a loss dB, and the horizontal axis indicates a sampling frequency of 48 kHz. Shown as a ratio of 1.00. The ripple in the pass band is a flat characteristic of about ± 0.005 dB, and the stop band is a characteristic that gives an attenuation exceeding 100 dB to the pass band. However, the loss at half the sampling frequency is as small as about 10 dB.
FIG. 14 shows experimental data using the A / D converter having the characteristics shown in FIG. 13, wherein (A) shows an alias output from the in-band to the out-of-band, and (B) shows an alias from the out-of-band to the in-band. Indicates the output. In (A), it is shown that spectral components outside the band shown as 14 kHz alias output and 15 kHz alias output are generated for input / output components in the 14 kHz and 15 kHz bands, and in (B). Thus, it is shown that a spectrum component into a band shown as a 17 kHz alias output is generated for an input / output component outside the 17 kHz band. That is, in a digital signal of 32 kHz sampling, a signal around 16 kHz which is a half of the digital signal is accurately A / D and D / A converted due to the above-described spectrum overlap. The 18 kHz alias output and 19 kHz alias output indicate cases where the input components are 18 kHz and 19 kHz outside the band, respectively, and the 18 kHz output was at a level that cannot be observed.
There are various transmission / reception systems that convert an analog signal into a digital signal and transmit it, and convert the received digital signal into an analog signal on the receiving side. Among them, a high quality broadcasting system is required. In the broadcasting system, for example, the received contents are recorded, and more recently, the relationship between the original sound and the harmonics in the natural world is used to meet the user's expectations that are not as good as the sound quality of the current CD (compact disc). Thus, a system that synthesizes out-of-band spectrum with limited-band music has also been developed. Therefore, high quality conditions require not only a high S / N (signal to noise ratio) but also an A / D conversion means and a D / A conversion means that do not emit any unnecessary signal spectrum. became.
In broadcasting systems, more important performance is required. For example, a general CD (compact disc) or the like does not cause a problem even if there is a difference between the time during which music is played back and the time when the sound actually comes out of the speaker. On the other hand, in a broadcasting system, music or the like is unilaterally transmitted as a digital signal, converted from a broadcasting station to an analog signal, modulated to a broadcasting frequency, and transmitted, for example, with Hokkaido and Okinawa. In the case of relay broadcasting in Japan, time delay becomes a big problem. As a broadcasting system, there is also a time signal transmission, but the time delay in this case needs to be minimized. However, in the above-described conventional example, the digital signal on the linear code side is converted into the digital signal of the broken line coding rule and the filtering process, and the digital signal of the broken line coding rule is received, and the digital signal of the linear coding rule is received. The processing time required for signal conversion processing and filter processing is long, and there is a problem that the filter processing function for suppressing an unnecessary signal spectrum becomes complicated and large. Further, in the above-mentioned
The present invention aims to solve the above-described conventional problems, has a function of A / D conversion or D / A conversion, or A / D and D / A conversion, and passes the filter characteristics. The band has a flat characteristic, and the transition band from the pass band to the stop band has a characteristic of steeply attenuating. Thus, a high-quality configuration that can be applied to a broadcasting system and that shortens the processing time is provided.
The converter according to the present invention is an A / D converter for converting an analog audio signal into a digital signal and transmitting it, a D / A converter for converting a digital signal into an analog audio signal, or the A / D converter, and A D / A converter including an A / D converter that inputs an analog audio signal through an anti-aliasing filter, converts it to a digital signal by oversampling, and converts by this A / D converter The first digital filter that processes the digital signal thus processed as a sampling frequency corresponding to an even multiple of the transmission rate, and the output digital signal of the first digital filter are input, and the transmission rate is ½ of the transmission rate. A second digitizer that completely attenuates frequency components equal to or higher than the frequency corresponding to the speed A filter, by thinning-out processing to output the digital signal of the second digital filter has a structure comprising a decimation unit for a digital signal of a predetermined transmission rate.
In addition, an zero-insertion is performed on the received digital signal, and an interpolating section for inputting a digital signal having a frequency corresponding to an even multiple of the transmission speed of the digital signal and an output digital signal of the interpolating section are input. A second digital filter that completely attenuates a frequency component equal to or higher than a half of the transmission speed, and a first digital filter that inputs an output digital signal of the second digital filter, A D / A converter that converts an output digital signal of the first digital filter into an analog audio signal, and a post filter that removes an unnecessary frequency component contained in the analog audio signal converted by the D / A converter. It has a configuration that includes.
The second digital filter is constituted by an IIR filter having any one of an elliptical type, a Chebyshev type, an inverse Chebyshev type, a Butterworth type, and a Bessel type. In addition, two second digital filters are connected in series along the digital signal transmission path, for example, on the transmitting side and the receiving side, and one of the two second digital filters is connected. The relation between the pole and zero on the Z plane with the other is an odd order and an even order, and the ripple characteristics cancel each other.
The converter of the present invention is an A / D converter, a D / A converter or a converter including both of them, and converts the analog audio signal to a half of the transmission speed of the digital signal by the second digital filter. Since it is possible to attenuate a signal component having a corresponding frequency or higher to about 100 dB or more, even if a conversion process between an analog signal and a digital signal is performed, an unnecessary signal component is not included. Thereby, there is an advantage that it is possible to provide a high-performance converter applicable to a broadcasting system. The second digital filter does not operate at the frequency of the transmission speed of the digital signal, but can be processed at a frequency that is an even multiple thereof, thereby shortening the processing time.

FIG. 5 is an explanatory diagram of the second digital filter according to the first embodiment of the present invention, and shows a 16th-order 8-section elliptic digital filter applicable to the second
例えば、FIR(Finite Impulse Response)フィルタの場合の処理遅延時間は、フィルタ規模にそのまま比例したものとなる。
As described above, the transmission speed of the digital signal is set to 32 kHz, the frequency of the pass band is set to, for example, 15 kHz, and the band exceeding 16 kHz exceeding the pass band, that is, the band of 1/2 or more of 32 kHz of the transmission speed is set as the stop band. In this stop band, a filter that provides almost complete attenuation (100 dB) to the pass band is provided on the A / D converter side and the D / A converter side. To construct a low-pass filter at a frequency very close to 1/2 of the sampling frequency, the filter scale becomes very large, and the cutoff frequency is set at a point some distance from 1/2 of the sampling frequency. Otherwise, it was difficult to obtain a sufficient amount of attenuation in the configuration of the conventional example. As the filter scale increases, the delay time due to the filtering process increases. For example, the processing delay time in the case of a FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filter is directly proportional to the filter scale. Also, there is a relationship with the sampling frequency. For example, if the sampling frequency of 32 kHz is doubled to 64 kHz, the processing delay time is ½, and if it is four times 128 kHz, the processing delay time is 1 / 4. From the relationship between the filter processing delay time and the filter configuration scale, the operating frequency of the A / D converter and the D / A converter and the operating frequency of the second
The configuration of the digital filter is broadly divided into an FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filter and an IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filter. The former FIR filter (finite impulse response filter) and the latter IIR filter (infinite impulse response filter). The main difference is that the feedback element is in the IIR filter and not in the FIR filter. In addition, the FIR filter can realize an ideal group delay time regardless of the frequency, and the FIR filter and the IIR filter are in principle the same as an active filter configuration to which an operational amplifier is applied. However, the FIR filter has a large group delay time but a large value. Further, in order to provide a configuration that gives 100 dB attenuation by the FIR filter, the filter scale becomes very large, and the processing delay time correspondingly increases, which causes a practical problem. On the other hand, the IIR filter has some frequency characteristics as the group delay time, but can be configured to have a short processing delay time. This IIR filter has various configurations such as Chebyshev, Inverse Chebyshev, Butterworth, Bessel, Elliptic, etc., each of which has steep characteristics and passbands. There are differences in ripple characteristics.
Therefore, the elliptic filter shown in FIG. 5 can be applied to the second
