Abstract
Description
本発明は、有機EL(electroluminescence)素子を用いた発光装置及び発光装置の製造方法に関する。 The present invention relates to a light emitting device using an organic EL (electroluminescence) element and a method for manufacturing the light emitting device.
2. Description of the Related Art In recent years, as a next-generation display device following a liquid crystal display device (LCD), a light-emitting device including a light-emitting panel in which self-light-emitting elements such as organic electroluminescence elements (hereinafter abbreviated as “organic EL elements”) are two-dimensionally arranged Research and development for full-scale practical application and popularization of the
The organic EL element includes an anode electrode, a cathode electrode, and an organic EL layer formed between these electrodes, such as an electron injection layer, a hole injection layer, and a light emitting layer. In the organic EL element, light is emitted by energy generated by recombination of holes and electrons respectively supplied from the hole injection layer and the electron injection layer in the light emitting layer.
By the way, when the film which deposits the material used as a liquid organic EL layer with the general injection apparatus mentioned above and forms into a film, the applied solution will rise to the side surface of a mask by interface tension, and the film thickness will have nonuniformity. there were. Therefore, the film thickness of the organic EL layer is likely to be uneven, and as a result, the light emission is likely to be uneven. Note that the same problem occurs when the film is formed through a mask by flowing a solution from a nozzle without being limited to the case of using an injection device.
The present invention has been made to solve such problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a light emitting device in which an organic layer is formed to have a relatively uniform thickness, and a method for manufacturing the light emitting device.

A light emitting device and a method for manufacturing the light emitting device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
As shown in FIG. 1, the

The
As shown in FIG. 2, the gate terminal of the selection transistor Tr11 is connected to the scanning line Ls, the drain terminal is connected to the data line Ld arranged in the column direction of the display panel, and the source terminal is connected to the contact N11. The gate terminal of the light emission drive transistor Tr12 is connected to the contact N11, the drain terminal is connected to the supply voltage line La, and the source terminal is connected to the contact N12. Each end of the capacitor Cs is connected to the gate terminal and the source terminal of the transistor Tr12. Note that the capacitor Cs is an auxiliary capacitance additionally provided between the gate and the source of the transistor Tr12 or a capacitance component composed of these parasitic capacitance and auxiliary capacitance. In the organic EL element OLED, the anode terminal (pixel electrode 34) is connected to the contact N12, and the reference voltage Vss is applied to the cathode terminal (counter electrode 40). Note that in the case where the transistor Tr11 and the transistor Tr12 are p-channel field-effect transistors, the source terminal and the drain terminal are respectively connected in reverse to FIG. Therefore, the source terminal of the p-channel transistor Tr12 is connected to the supply voltage line La and one end of the capacitor Cs.
The scanning line Ls is connected to a scanning driver (not shown) disposed at the peripheral edge of the display panel, and sets a plurality of
A plurality of transistors Tr12 arranged for each row are set to a state in which a light emission driving current according to display data flows through the pixel electrode 34 (for example, an anode electrode) of the organic EL element OLED connected to the transistor Tr12. The plurality of anode lines La (supply voltage lines) are all directly or indirectly connected to a predetermined high potential power source. That is, the anode line La is applied with a predetermined high potential (supply voltage Vdd) sufficiently higher than the reference voltage Vss applied to the
That is, in each pixel, the supply voltage Vdd and the reference voltage Vss are applied to both ends (the drain terminal of the transistor Tr12 and the cathode terminal of the organic EL element OLED) of the pair of the transistor Tr12 and the organic EL element OLED connected in series. Thus, a forward bias current is applied to the organic EL element OLED so that the organic EL element OLED can emit light, and the current value of the light emission drive current that flows according to the gradation signal Vpix is controlled by the pixel circuit DS.

In the transistors Tr11 and Tr12, the
If the
The
The
The
The counter electrode (cathode electrode) 40 includes a conductive material, for example, a layer made of a low work function material such as Li, Mg, Ca, Ba, and a low work function material layer to suppress oxidation of the low work function material. It has a two-layer structure composed of a light-reflective conductive layer such as Al for covering and reducing the overall sheet resistance. In the present embodiment, the
Next, a method for manufacturing a light emitting device according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. In the present embodiment, a configuration in which a plurality of light emitting

Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 5B, an insulating
Next, as shown in FIG. 5C, an amorphous silicon film to be the semiconductor layers 111 and 121 and a silicon nitride film to be the protective insulating
Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 5D, an
Next, the
アルミニウム合金の一例としては、ADC10(Al−Si−Cu系:Si7.5〜9.5%、Cu2.0〜4.0%、比熱963J/kg・k、熱伝導率96W/m・k)が挙げられる。マグネシウム合金の一例としては、AZ31(Al3%、Zn1%、比熱1020J/kg・k、熱伝導率51W/m・k)が挙げられる。
Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 7A, a
The
Next, as shown in FIG. 7B, the

According to the method for manufacturing the light emitting device according to the embodiment of the present invention, the outer edge portion of the organic compound-containing liquid in contact with the
Further, in the present embodiment, by forming the
In the above-described embodiment, since the high boiling point solvent is used as the solvent for the hole
Further, in the above-described embodiment, the hole
Further, in the above-described embodiment, by adding a surfactant to the hole

In the above-described embodiment, the light emitting device that emits a single color and the method for manufacturing the light emitting device have been described. Further, in the above-described embodiment, the configuration in which the hole injection layer and the light emitting layer are formed over the entire display region by using a mask having an opening corresponding to the display region is described as an example. An opening may be provided corresponding to each pixel.
Moreover, although embodiment mentioned above demonstrated the method of application | coating of the organic compound containing liquid on a board | substrate by the spray from a spray nozzle, it is not limited to only this method in particular, You may use another method.
