Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a defect inspection technique for an image formed by an image forming apparatus.
It is known that an image formed by an image forming apparatus such as a printer or a copying machine has defects due to various causes. For example, ink jet clogging may occur in an inkjet image forming apparatus, and a laser mechanism may jump in a laser exposure image forming apparatus. For these image defects, adjustment work or the like corresponding to the cause is necessary. For that purpose, it is necessary to accurately grasp the defect of the formed image.
For this reason, various studies have been made to inspect defects in images formed by image forming apparatuses such as printers and copiers. For example, an image defect detection device that detects a defect included in an inspection image by comparing the inspection image and a reference image with respect to the inspection image, and extracts a part of the inspection image as a template image. A comparison image corresponding to the position of the template image and having a size area including the template image is extracted, template matching is performed on the comparison image using the template image, a correlation value is calculated, and the correlation value and a predetermined threshold value are calculated. There is known a technique for determining the presence or absence of a defect by comparing with (see Patent Document 1).
As described above, in the technique of Patent Document 1, a correlation value is calculated by template matching a comparison image extracted from a reference image using a template image extracted from an inspection image, and the calculated correlation value The defective pixel is determined based on the above. However, the technique of Patent Document 1 only discloses the determination of a defective pixel, and it is difficult for an inspector to accurately grasp a pixel defect even if the determination result is used.
In view of such problems, an object of the present invention is to provide an image defect inspection technique capable of accurately detecting defective pixels of an image formed on an image recording medium and accurately grasping defective pixels. That is.
The image defect inspection method of the present invention includes an image forming step of outputting test pattern image data as a test pattern image to an image recording medium, an image acquisition step of acquiring the test pattern image as image data to be inspected, and the test pattern image A correlation value calculating step for calculating a correlation value between a pixel group belonging to a predetermined area in the data and a pixel group belonging to an area corresponding to the predetermined area in the inspected image data; and a pixel having the correlation value equal to or less than a predetermined threshold value A correlation value determination step for determining the pixel as a defective pixel, and a display step for displaying the pixel determined as the defective pixel so as to be distinguishable from the normal pixel when the inspection image data is displayed on the display device. .
With such a configuration, the inspected image data is acquired from the test pattern image formed on the image recording medium, and the correlation value between each region is calculated from the inspected image data and the test pattern image data. Since the defective pixel is determined based on the correlation value, the defective pixel can be accurately detected. Further, when the test pattern image is displayed, the pixels determined as defective pixels are displayed so as to be distinguishable from normal pixels. Therefore, the inspector can accurately grasp at which part of the test pattern the defect has occurred, and can accurately adjust the image forming apparatus according to the place where the defect occurs.
In general, image data obtained by digitizing an image formed on an image recording medium with a flatbed scanner or the like includes various noises. However, these noises are noises generated in the process of acquiring image data, and are not noises at the time of image formation. Therefore, it is desirable that these noises are not detected as defective pixels.
Therefore, in one preferred embodiment of the image defect inspection method of the present invention, the test pattern image data is composed of a predetermined color, and the pixel is determined based on the coordinate value of the pixel and the predetermined color. The correlation value calculating step includes a noise determination step that specifies a range of pixel values to be included as a specific pixel value range and determines whether or not the pixel value of the pixel is a pixel value outside the specific pixel value range. Excludes pixels determined to be out of the specific pixel value range by the noise determination step from the correlation value calculation.
In this configuration, the test pattern image data is composed of a predetermined color, and each pixel of the image data to be inspected has a pixel value range to be determined according to its coordinate value, and the pixel value to be inspected is If it has a pixel value outside the specified pixel value range, it is determined that the noise is at the time of image data acquisition, and is excluded from the subsequent calculation of the correlation value. For this reason, defects other than those at the time of image formation can be excluded, and defects at the time of image formation can be detected with high accuracy.
In addition, pixel image blur may occur in the inspected image data. Of course, such blur is not a defect in the image, so it is desirable that it not be detected as a defective pixel.
Therefore, in one preferred embodiment of the image defect inspection method of the present invention, normal pixels in the inspected image data are compared by comparing pixels having the same coordinates in the test pattern image data and the inspected image data. The correlation value calculation step excludes pixels determined to be normal pixels from the correlation value calculation.
In this configuration, prior to the calculation of the correlation value in the correlation value calculation step, the pixels of the test pattern image data and the image data to be inspected are compared, and a normal pixel is determined based on the comparison result. Also, the pixels determined as normal pixels are excluded from the subsequent correlation value calculation. Thereby, it is possible to avoid a minute difference due to bleeding or the like being detected as a defective pixel.
Further, the image to be inspected is locally minute due to the mounting state at the time of reading the image data to be inspected, uneven feeding of the image recording medium at the time of image formation on the image recording medium, deflection of the image recording medium, etc. There is a possibility that shape deformation such as misalignment and rotation occurs.
Therefore, in one of the preferred embodiments of the image defect inspection method of the present invention, the position of the correlation value calculation in the test pattern image data is set to the predetermined area when it is determined as a defective pixel by the correlation value determination step. The correlation value is calculated by changing to a region located around the corresponding region.
In this configuration, when it is determined as a defective pixel by the correlation value determination step, the correlation value calculation position in the test pattern image data is changed to an area located around the area corresponding to the predetermined area, and the correlation value is again determined. Calculation is performed. Thereby, even when the corresponding pixels are shifted, an accurate correlation value can be calculated, and the detection accuracy of defective pixels can be increased.
An image forming apparatus according to the present invention includes an image forming unit that outputs test pattern image data as a test pattern image to an image recording medium, an image acquisition unit that acquires the test pattern image as inspected image data, and the test pattern. A correlation value calculating unit for calculating a correlation value between a pixel group belonging to a predetermined area in the image data and a pixel group belonging to an area corresponding to the predetermined area in the inspected image data; and the correlation value is equal to or less than a predetermined threshold value A correlation value determining unit that determines a pixel as a defective pixel, and a display unit that displays a pixel determined to be a defective pixel so as to be distinguishable from a normal pixel when the inspection image data is displayed on a display device. Yes. Naturally, such an image forming apparatus can also obtain the same effects as those of the above-described image defect inspection method, and can also have the above-described additional configuration.
Embodiments of an image defect inspection method and an image forming apparatus according to the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings.

In addition, an operating unit A that functions as an operation terminal for an operator to acquire image data and perform operations necessary for print processing is installed outside the
Note that various methods such as an ink jet method and a laser exposure method can be used as the image forming unit Ex.
FIG. 2 is an example of a test pattern image used in the present embodiment. The test pattern image of the present embodiment is composed of six regions R1 to R6, and includes a test pattern T composed of sub test patterns T1 to T6 included in each region. Each of the sub test patterns T1 to T6 is formed with a different color.
As shown in FIG. 3, the
The
The feature
Generally, the position of the test pattern T in the image data to be inspected acquired by the
Further, the image data to be inspected may include noise during image formation on the image recording medium P and noise during scanning by the
The normal
The correlation
Although the shape correction of the inspected image data is performed by the
The
Next, the processing flow of the image defect inspection method of the present invention will be described using the flowchart of FIG. Prior to the processing described later, it is assumed that test pattern image data recorded in the
First, the user places the image recording medium P on which the above test pattern image is formed on the
In the
Next, the feature
The
The
In the following processing, determination is performed for each predetermined block. Therefore, first, a determination area to be determined is set (# 05). In the present embodiment, the determination areas are set to overlap. Therefore, the determination is performed a plurality of times for one pixel, and the detection accuracy of the defective pixel can be improved. In consideration of improvement in determination accuracy and increase in the amount of calculation, it is preferable to set the determination region so that about half of the determination region overlaps. For example, when the size of the determination area is 5 × 5, each determination area is set so that two pixels overlap.
Noise determination is performed on the set determination region by the noise determination unit 34 (# 06). The
On the other hand, when it is determined that the noise is not noise (No branch at # 07), the normal pixel determination is performed by the normal pixel determination unit 35 (# 09). The normal
When the normal
Next, the correlation
On the other hand, when the correlation value is equal to or smaller than the threshold value TH (No branch of # 12), the comparison area is changed by the position adjustment unit 38 (# 14), and the determination area and the position are changed by the correlation
The above process is repeated until the determination of all pixels is completed (# 16). When the determination process is completed, the
In the above-described embodiment, noise determination and normal pixel determination are performed prior to correlation value calculation. However, these processes are not essential, and only one of them may be executed, or both may not be executed. I do not care.
In the above-described embodiment, noise determination, normal pixel determination, and correlation value calculation are all performed with the same block size, but different block sizes may be used in each process. In this case, after the noise determination is performed on the entire image data to be inspected, the normal value determination is performed on the entire image data to be inspected, and the correlation value is calculated.
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to detect a defective pixel and accurately grasp in which region of the test pattern the defect is generated, so that the image forming apparatus is optimized based on the obtained information. Can be adjusted to a different operating state.
