Although not shown in the figure, the
Here, the toner image is transferred to the paper supplied from the
The
The
In addition, a
Although not shown, the

Next, a series of bookbinding printing steps will be described.
First, a cover sheet (here, the back cover) is sent out from the cover sheet tray 44. The back cover is transported through the
Next, the necessary number of plain papers on which the bound text is printed are sent out from the
During printing of plain paper, special paper on which a color image or the like is printed is sent out from the
Subsequently, a cover sheet (in this case, a cover sheet) is sent out from the cover sheet tray 44. As with the back cover, the front cover is composed of the
The document set prepared by the
In FIG. 1,
Next, the paper detection device will be described. In the present embodiment, it is assumed that a paper detection device is provided in the
2A and 2B show a plan view and a cross-sectional view of the
A stepped
The light retroreflective material has a reflection performance of retroreflecting incident light in the opposite direction parallel to the incident direction. For example, a light retroreflective material called a closed type has a transparent surface resin layer, surface It consists of a glass microsphere provided in the resin layer, a resin layer holding the glass microsphere, a focus resin layer formed on the lower surface of the glass microsphere, a reflective layer provided behind the focus resin layer, and the like. Light incident from the surface resin layer is focused and reflected on the reflective layer through the glass microspheres and the focus resin layer. Thereby, it returns to the direction substantially parallel to incident light.
The reflecting
A
The
When the amount of light received by the
Here, the
Next, the operation of the first embodiment of the present invention will be described.
As shown in FIG. 4A, the paper P is transported on the
Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 4B, when the leading edge PF of the sheet P passes over the
Here, the
Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 4C, the paper P is further conveyed in the direction of the arrow X along the top surface of the
Here, as a comparative example, in the case where the
On the other hand, in this embodiment, since the dust M hardly remains on the
Next, the reflection state of light when a retroreflecting material is used for the
As shown in FIG. 3A, as a comparative example 1 with the first embodiment, when a
As shown in FIG. 3B, as a comparative example 2 with the first embodiment, a
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 3 (c), when the
In the present embodiment, the angle θ (see FIG. 2B) is made shallow in order to avoid the influence of unnecessary reflected light from nearby objects, and the thickness of the
Next, a second embodiment of the paper detection device, paper stacking device, and image forming apparatus of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that components that are basically the same as those in the first embodiment described above are given the same reference numerals as those in the first embodiment, and descriptions thereof are omitted.
As shown in FIGS. 6A and 6B, a
The
In addition, a stepped
Further, the
Next, the operation of the second embodiment of the present invention will be described.
As shown in FIG. 7A, the paper P is transported on the
Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 7B, when the leading edge of the sheet P passes over the reflecting
Subsequently, as shown in FIG. 7C, when the paper P is further conveyed in the arrow X direction along the top surface of the
Since the dust M is scraped off and hardly remains on the
Next, a third embodiment of the paper detection device, paper stacking device, and image forming apparatus of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that components that are basically the same as those in the first and second embodiments described above are given the same reference numerals as those in the first embodiment, and descriptions thereof are omitted.
As shown in FIGS. 8A and 8B, a
Further, on the
A
Next, the operation of the third embodiment of the present invention will be described.
As shown in FIG. 9A, the paper P is transported on the
Subsequently, as illustrated in FIG. 9B, when the conveyance proceeds, the sheet P moves obliquely upward along the inclined surface of the
Subsequently, as illustrated in FIG. 9C, when the paper P is further transported in the direction of the arrow X by the
Since the dust M is scraped off and hardly remains on the
Next, a fourth embodiment of the paper detection device, paper stacking device, and image forming apparatus of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. Note that components that are basically the same as those in the first embodiment described above are given the same reference numerals as those in the first embodiment, and descriptions thereof are omitted. In the fourth embodiment, instead of the
Next, the details of the
As shown in FIG. 10, the
A
The conveying
Three gate members (not shown) made of arcuate separating claws are provided between the

A
An
On the side of the
As shown in FIGS. 11 and 12, the
In addition, an
The aforementioned paper detection sensor (remaining paper sensor) 60 is provided at a position facing the inclined surface of the reflecting
In addition, a

Next, operations of the
FIG. 13 shows an operation flow of the

Next, the operation of the fourth exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described.
As shown in FIG. 14A, with the discharge gate 112 (see FIG. 10) opened, the

In addition, this invention is not limited to said embodiment.
