Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an optical pulse test apparatus for performing a test by making an optical pulse incident on an optical fiber to be tested.
尚、この光パルス試験装置は、光ファイバ試験装置又はOTDR(Opticai Time Domain Reflectometer)と呼ばれることもある。 As is well known, an optical pulse test apparatus makes a light beam incident on an optical fiber to be tested, and performs predetermined arithmetic processing on a received light signal obtained by receiving backscattered light from the optical fiber. It is a device that tests the characteristics of the fiber (transmission loss, distance to the point of failure, etc.). This optical pulse test apparatus is sometimes called an optical fiber test apparatus or an OTDR (Opticai Time Domain Reflectometer).
Since the backscattered light obtained from the optical fiber is extremely weak, the optical pulse test apparatus generally improves the dynamic range by increasing the power of the optical pulse incident on the optical fiber as much as possible. In recent years, an optical pulse train that has been code-modulated using a Golay code or a Barker code is incident on an optical fiber, and the received light signal is obtained by receiving backscattered light from the optical fiber. On the other hand, an optical pulse test apparatus that improves the dynamic range by performing correlation processing (demodulation) is also realized.
このため、光パルス試験装置には、光ファイバに入射させる光パルスを増幅するためにEDFA(Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier:エルビウム添加光ファイバ増幅器)等の光ファイバ増幅器を備えるものがある。 By the way, as described above, the dynamic range of the optical pulse test apparatus is improved by increasing the power of the optical pulse incident on the optical fiber as much as possible. For this reason, some optical pulse test apparatuses include an optical fiber amplifier such as an EDFA (Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier) in order to amplify an optical pulse incident on an optical fiber.
However, when an optical pulse is amplified using an optical fiber amplifier, a high power (crest value) can be obtained at the head of the optical pulse, but the power gradually decreases with time. This phenomenon also occurs in the optical pulse train that is code-modulated, and the power gradually decreases with the passage of time from the first optical pulse in the pulse train to the rear optical pulse. In addition, since the code-modulated optical pulse train uses a plurality of bit patterns, the number of bits “1” and the bit interval are different for each bit pattern, and the optical pulse train amplified by the optical fiber amplifier is an optical pulse with non-uniform power. It becomes a gathering of.
In an optical pulse test apparatus that uses a code-modulated optical pulse train, if an optical pulse train with non-uniform optical pulse power is made incident on the optical fiber, the power of the backscattered light obtained from the optical fiber also changes to the power fluctuation of the optical pulse train. Accordingly, there is a problem that when the backscattering light is used as a received light signal and correlation processing is performed, waveform distortion and noise appear and adversely affect the accuracy of the test result.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and even when the power of an optical pulse incident on an optical fiber fluctuates, waveform distortion and noise can be suppressed, and testing can be performed with high accuracy. An object of the present invention is to provide an optical pulse test apparatus capable of performing the above.
In order to solve the above problems, an optical pulse test apparatus of the present invention includes an optical fiber amplifier (13) that amplifies an optical pulse train to be incident on an optical fiber (40), and light output from the optical fiber amplifier. A light receiving unit (17, 18, 19) for receiving backscattered light obtained by making a pulse train incident on the optical fiber, and testing the characteristics of the optical fiber based on a light receiving signal output from the light receiving unit. The optical pulse test apparatus (1) includes a correction unit (32) that corrects the level of the light reception signal output from the light reception unit according to the power fluctuation of the optical pulse train output from the optical fiber amplification unit. It is a feature.
According to the present invention, the level of the received light signal output from the light receiving unit is corrected according to the power fluctuation of the optical pulse train output from the optical fiber amplifier.
The optical pulse test apparatus according to the present invention includes an optical pulse train generation unit (11, 12) that generates an optical pulse train subjected to predetermined code modulation as an optical pulse train to be incident on the optical fiber, and a level at the correction unit. And a correlation processing unit (33) for performing demodulation by performing correlation processing on the received light signal.
The optical pulse test apparatus of the present invention includes a detection unit (15) for detecting the power of either the optical pulse train output from the optical fiber amplification unit or the optical pulse train transmitted through the optical fiber, The correction unit corrects the level of the light reception signal based on a detection result of the detection unit.
Alternatively, the optical pulse test apparatus of the present invention includes a storage unit (34) for storing the power fluctuation of the optical pulse train output from the optical fiber amplifier, and the correction unit is based on the storage contents of the storage unit. The level of the received light signal is corrected.
Here, the optical pulse test apparatus of the present invention includes a detection unit (15) for detecting the power of either the optical pulse train output from the optical fiber amplifier or the optical pulse train transmitted through the optical fiber. The storage content of the storage unit is updated to the detection result of the detection unit.
According to the present invention, the power fluctuation of the optical pulse train output from the optical fiber amplifier is detected, and the level of the light reception signal output from the light receiver is corrected according to the detection result. Even when the power of the optical pulse to be changed fluctuates, it is possible to suppress waveform distortion and noise and to perform an experiment with high accuracy.
Hereinafter, an optical pulse test apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. FIG. 1 is a block diagram showing a main configuration of an optical pulse test apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, the optical pulse test apparatus 1 of this embodiment includes a
The
FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating an example of amplification characteristics of the EDFA 13. Now, assuming that an optical pulse train composed of a plurality of optical pulses having a constant power is emitted from the
The
The
The
In the following description, the sampling interval of the A /
The
The received light data obtained when the optical pulse train corresponding to each of the code strings A k , ̄A k , B k , and ̄B k is incident on the optical fiber 40 (the averaging process is performed by the averaging processor 31). The received light data) are S A , ̄S A , S B , and ̄S B , respectively. Incidentally, the symbol "¯ S A" is the symbol symbol marked with bar symbol "¯" to the top of the "S A", the symbol "¯ S B" upper bar symbol "¯" symbol "S B" It is a symbol attached.
m+1≦x≦n+m−1の場合、α=1,β=1,y=n,z=x−m
Here, the variables α, β, y, z in the above equation (5) take the following values according to the value of the variable x.
When 1 ≦ x ≦ n, α = 1, β = 0, y = x, z = 1
When n + 1 ≦ x ≦ m, α = 1, β = 0, y = n, z = 1
When m + 1 ≦ x ≦ n + m−1, α = 1, β = 1, y = n, z = x−m
That is, in the case of 1 ≦ x ≦ n, the received light data T A , ̄T A , T B , and ̄T B shown in the above equation (5) indicates that the second item of the numerator and denominator is the value of the variable z. Regardless, the value becomes 0, and the value of the first item of the numerator and denominator changes according to the value of the variable y (= variable x). In the case of n + 1 ≦ x ≦ m, the second item of the numerator and denominator becomes 0 regardless of the value of the variable z as described above, but the first item of the numerator and denominator becomes a constant and the variable The value does not vary according to the value of x.
In the case of m + 1 ≦ x ≦ n + m-1 , the above (5) receiving data T A shown in formula, ¯T A, T B, ¯T B , the value of the second item of the molecule beauty denominator variable It changes according to the value of z (= variable x−m), and becomes an expression for subtracting the second item from the first item (constant) of the numerator and denominator. The
The above equation (5) is an arithmetic expression when correcting the level of the received light data as reference the beginning of the level of data Sa 11 for receiving data S A. Here, the data used as a reference for correction is not necessarily limited to the data Sa 11 , and other data may be used as a reference. When other data is used as a reference, each of the data included in the received light data S A , ̄S A , S B , ̄S B shown in the above equation (4) is calculated using an arithmetic expression corresponding to the data. Correction may be performed.
In addition, the power fluctuation of the optical pulse train output from the
The
Next, the operation at the time of testing the
Most of the optical pulse train emitted from the
As the optical pulse train propagates through the
When the above process is completed, the code string ¯A k, B k, performs averaging processing be acquired received light data in the procedure similar to the processing explained with reference ¯B k, ¯S A, S B , ¯S Find B.

Since the power of the backscattered light generated in the
When the above correction processing is performed, received data T A level correction processing is performed from the level correcting unit 32, ¯T A, T B, is ¯t B is output. The
FIG. 4 is a diagram illustrating an example of demodulated data. In FIG. 4, the horizontal axis represents the position of the
As described above, in the present embodiment, the light fluctuation of the optical pulse train output from the

In the above embodiment, the
