Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a thermoelectric element module applicable to a power generating element module using the Seebeck effect or a cooling / heating element module using the Peltier effect.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a thermoelectric element module is known in which a plurality of substrates are arranged to face each other, metal electrodes are bonded to opposite surfaces of each substrate, and n-type semiconductors and p-type semiconductors are alternately connected via the metal electrodes. In the thermoelectric element module, the connection portion connecting the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor is held at a high temperature as the high-temperature side end, while the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor legs on the opposite side to the high-temperature side end Is kept at a low temperature as the low temperature side end, and an electromotive force is generated due to a temperature difference between the high temperature side end and the low temperature side end due to the Seebeck effect. In the case of a thermoelectric element module for power generation, this electromotive force is recovered as generated power. Further, by applying a positive voltage to the legs of the n-type semiconductor and applying a negative voltage to the legs of the p-type semiconductor, the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor that are opposite to the legs are separated. Heat is generated at the connection. In the case of the thermoelectric element module for cooling / heating, the connection portion between the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor is heated, while the legs of the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor are cooled by heat transfer.
The thermoelectric element module for power generation or the thermoelectric element module for cooling / heating can directly convert heat energy to electric energy or vice versa, so that unused heat energy can be used and the load on the environment is small. A heat exchange system can be realized.
By the way, the board | substrate used for a thermoelectric element module transfers heat favorably with respect to an n-type semiconductor and a p-type semiconductor, and the heat conduction which can transfer the heat of an n-type semiconductor and a p-type semiconductor favorably outside. A good rate is desired. A metal substrate can be considered as a material having good thermal conductivity. However, since the difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor is large, it is considered that the joint surface is cracked and is not suitable for long-term use.
Further, when a ceramic substrate is used as the substrate of the thermoelectric element module, the coefficient of thermal expansion is almost the same as that of the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor, so that the risk of cracks in the joint surface is reduced. However, the ceramic substrate has a drawback that it has a lower thermal conductivity than the metal substrate and cannot transfer heat from the substrate to the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor.
However, since the thermal conductivity of a general carbon material such as the carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite material and the isotropic high-density carbon material described in
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and is superior in thermal conductivity and thermal efficiency compared to a substrate using a general carbon material, and there is a difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the substrate and the semiconductor. It is an object of the present invention to provide a highly reliable thermoelectric element module that is small and does not generate thermal stress.
The thermoelectric module according to the present invention includes a plurality of substrates arranged opposite to each other, a plurality of n-type and p-type semiconductors arranged apart from each other, and n facing each substrate. Thermoelectric element module comprising a plurality of metal electrodes for alternately connecting a p-type semiconductor and a p-type semiconductor, and an insulating layer for insulating each metal electrode and each substrate, wherein the substrate is a high thermal conductivity carbon composite material It is characterized by comprising.
According to the thermoelectric element module configured in this way, the substrate that exchanges heat with the outside of the module is composed of a high thermal conductivity carbon composite material that is superior in thermal conductivity to a substrate using a general carbon material. Heat loss can be greatly reduced, and thermal efficiency can be improved.
As the high thermal conductivity carbon composite material, a highly anisotropic graphite / amorphous carbon composite material or an amorphous carbon / carbon nanotube composite material can be used.
In the thermoelectric element module, it is desirable to fill a gap formed around the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor with a heat insulating material, and silica-based aerogel can be used as the heat insulating material. Thereby, the loss of the thermal energy by the thermal convection in a module and a radiant heat is suppressed, and electric power generation efficiency can be improved.
In the thermoelectric element module, by providing a heat dissipation / heat absorption plate on at least one of the plurality of substrates located at the module end, heat dissipation or heat absorption at the module end can be efficiently performed.
According to the present invention, in the thermoelectric module, the heat absorption plate provided on the outer end surface of one of the plurality of substrates positioned at the end of the module, and the evaporation on the heat input side on the outer end surface of the other substrate. It is characterized by comprising a heat pipe in which the portion is disposed in contact via a high thermal conductivity member, and a heat radiating plate disposed in contact with the condensing portion on the heat output side of the heat pipe.
According to the thermoelectric element module configured as described above, the heat propagated from the one substrate side in contact with the heat absorbing plate to the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor is in contact with the other substrate through the high thermal conductivity member. It is emitted from the heat sink via the pipe. Therefore, since the temperatures at both ends of the n-type semiconductor and the p-type semiconductor are not balanced, the power generation operation can be maintained for a long time if the heat supply to the heat absorption plate can be maintained.
According to the present invention, compared with a substrate using a general carbon material, the thermal conductivity is excellent, the thermal efficiency is good, the heat loss in the substrate can be suppressed, and the difference in the thermal expansion coefficient between the substrate and the semiconductor is small. Generation of cracks on the surface can be prevented.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be specifically described with reference to the drawings.
FIG. 1 is a diagram relating to a thermoelectric element module according to an embodiment of the present invention, and shows a principle diagram of a thermoelectric element which is a minimum component constituting the thermoelectric element module.
In the thermoelectric element module according to the present embodiment, a pair of
In the present embodiment, a high thermal conductivity carbon composite material is used as the
In the present embodiment, silica-based airgel is used as the
The thermoelectric element configured as described above maintains the
Further, by applying a negative voltage to the
As described above, heat is transferred inside and outside the element via the
Moreover, in the present embodiment, since the

In this way, by configuring a thermoelectric element module by alternately connecting a plurality of n-type semiconductors and p-type semiconductors, the area of the heat absorption surface (heat dissipation surface) can be expanded, and the dimensions and power generation suitable for the application Electric power can be realized.

In the conventional structure, if single-layered thermoelectric element modules are stacked, the thermal efficiency is remarkably reduced at the joint surfaces of the upper and lower modules, so that it is difficult to obtain a multistage structure. On the other hand, in the present embodiment, the heat conductivity of the

FIG. 5 is a configuration diagram of a thermoelectric element module suitable for generating power with sunlight.
The basic structure of the thermoelectric element module is the same as that of the single structure thermoelectric element module shown in FIG. 2, and the same reference numerals are given to the same parts. In this thermoelectric element module, a

For example, the thermoelectric element module can be incorporated into a roofing material of a building or the like and used as a thermoelectric element module for power generation. The

FIG. 7 shows a principle of operation of the heat pipe. In the heat pipe, a small amount of working liquid is sealed in a sealed container 51 under reduced pressure, and a liquid reflux wick 52 is attached to the inner wall of the sealed container 51. The working liquid is boiled by the heat applied to the evaporation unit 41a, and the evaporation heat is input. The vapor flow flows from the evaporator 41a to the condenser 41b due to the pressure difference and is condensed in the condenser 41b. As a result, condensation heat is released in the condensing part 41b. The working liquid condensed and liquefied in the condensing unit 41b returns to the evaporating unit 41a through the wick 52 by a pumping action by capillary action.
In the present embodiment,
In the present embodiment, the evaporation portion 41 a of the

One
Further, the
