Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a base film for a flexible printed circuit board, a flexible printed circuit board, a method for manufacturing a flexible printed circuit board, and an electronic device.
In recent years, a flexible printed circuit (FPC) has been used in many electronic devices such as mobile phones, personal computers, and game machines. With the demand for downsizing of these electronic devices, there is an increasing demand for higher definition of the connection pitch of the FPC.
When the terminal electrode of the FPC and the terminal electrode of the electronic component are connected by an anisotropic conductive sheet, there is a limit to increasing the connection pitch. On the other hand, in patent document 1, the convex part of the surface of the terminal electrode of FPC contacts with the terminal electrode of an electronic component, without using an anisotropic conductive sheet, and electrical connection is made, and the surface of the terminal electrode of FPC Adhesive is interposed in the recess, and the joint between the end face of the FPC and the end face of the electronic component is reinforced with a fillet-like adhesive resin, thereby bonding the terminal electrode of the FPC and the terminal electrode of the electronic part, and a high connection pitch. The technology to make it is proposed. However, in this case, attention is not paid to the roughness of the surface of the base film of the FPC, and the unevenness of the electrode surface of the FPC is an unintended roughness, that is, an unevenness of 0.2 micrometers or less, Unevenness is not controlled. As a result, the amount of adhesive intervening in the recesses is very small, and the amount of adhesive is not controlled, so that the adhesive strength is weak and the adhesive strength varies, which is not practical. On the other hand, it is conceivable to increase the adhesive force by enlarging the area of the fillet part, but this is contrary to the miniaturization of an electronic device in which the FPC is used. In addition, the fillet part is for bonding the end face of the FPC and the end face of the electronic component, and since the position of these end faces is away from the contact surface of both terminal electrodes, the improvement of the adhesive strength by expanding the area of the fillet part is After all it was insufficient.
The present invention is based on the above-mentioned problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a base film for a flexible printed circuit board that has high adhesive strength and enables high-definition electrical connection, a flexible printed circuit board using the same, and a flexible printed circuit board. An object of the present invention is to provide a printed circuit board manufacturing method and an electronic apparatus using them.

According to another aspect of the present invention, an electrode having a second unevenness reflecting the first unevenness on the main surface of the base film having the first unevenness on the main surface is formed.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.
(First embodiment)
FIG. 1 is a schematic cross-sectional view illustrating the configuration of a flexible printed circuit board according to the first embodiment of the invention.
Fig.1 (a) represents the base film for flexible printed circuit boards of 1st Embodiment, FIG.1 (b) represents the flexible printed circuit board using the same.
As shown in FIG. 1A, the
The
The first unevenness can be provided on the first main surface of the
In addition, as illustrated in FIG. 1B, the flexible printed
Since the

FIG. 2A illustrates the connection state between the flexible printed circuit board and the terminal part of the electronic component. FIGS. 2B and 2C are respectively the
As shown in FIG. 2A, a
As shown in FIG. 2B, in the
Further, as shown in FIG. 2C, in the

Next, a comparative example will be described.
(First comparative example)
FIG. 3 is a schematic cross-sectional view illustrating the configuration of the flexible printed circuit board of the first comparative example.
FIG. 3A shows a flexible printed circuit board base film of a first comparative example, and FIG. 3B shows a flexible printed circuit board using the same.
As shown in FIG. 3A, the first
Further, as shown in FIG. 3B, the flexible printed

FIG. 4A illustrates the connection state between the flexible printed circuit board and the terminal part of the electronic component. FIGS. 4B and 4C are respectively the
As shown in FIG. 4A, the

(Second comparative example)
FIG. 5 is a schematic cross-sectional view illustrating the configuration of the flexible printed circuit board of the second comparative example.
FIG. 5A illustrates a flexible printed circuit board base film of a second comparative example, and FIG. 5B illustrates a flexible printed circuit board using the same.
As shown in FIG. 5A, the first
In addition, as illustrated in FIG. 5B, the flexible printed
The
For example, on the first
In addition to the above, after providing a substantially
Thus, after forming an electrode on a base film having a substantially smooth surface that has only an unintended small roughness on the surface, the thickness of the electrode layer fluctuates in the method of providing the electrode surface with the unevenness. This is not practical because the resistance value fluctuates, the electrode surface is scratched and there is a problem of disconnection.
On the other hand, the
Thus, the flexible printed circuit
Note that the arithmetic average roughness Ra of the first unevenness 118 (and the

FIG. 6 illustrates the contact state between the

In the flexible printed circuit board, in order to prevent the electrode on the base film from peeling off, a thermoplastic polyimide layer is provided between the base film and the electrode, and the roughness Ra is at the interface between the thermoplastic polyimide layer and the electrode layer. There is a method of forming irregularities of 0.1 to 1.0 μm by thermal deformation of a thermoplastic polyimide layer. In this case, the purpose is to increase the adhesion of the electrode, and in order to increase the area of the interface between the thermoplastic polyimide layer and the electrode layer, irregularities with relatively small roughness are provided. If the unevenness on the interface is small, the unevenness on the electrode surface is also small (in general, the unevenness on the electrode surface is smaller than the unevenness on the interface). Therefore, in this method, the adhesive force between the electrode of the flexible printed circuit board and the circuit electrode of the electronic component cannot be increased. In addition, if an attempt is made to increase the unevenness of the electrode surface by this method, there is a problem that the thermal deformation of the thermoplastic polyimide layer has to be increased, and the electrode layer is cracked and peeled off.
On the other hand, the flexible printed
In the above description of the embodiment, the case where the
Next, a second embodiment will be described.
(Second Embodiment)
FIG. 7 is a schematic view illustrating the structure of the flexible printed circuit board base film of the second embodiment.
As shown in FIG. 7A, the flexible printed circuit
Further, as shown in FIG. 7B, the
Further, as shown in FIG. 7C, the
Further, as shown in FIG. 7D, the
The rectangular, wavy, and triangular wave irregularities can be continuous irregularities such as grooves and peaks, or discrete irregularities such as holes and protrusions.
By providing the

For example, as shown in FIG. 7A, when the shape and arrangement of the first unevenness 118 (and the
