Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a brittle material substrate cutting device for forming a vertical crack of a desired depth by irradiating a laser beam to a scribe line after scribing a surface of a brittle material substrate such as a glass substrate by a cutter wheel. TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a brittle material substrate cutting method for processing a cut brittle material substrate by using a material.
A glass substrate as a brittle material substrate is generally divided by the following method. First, a scribe line with a median crack (hereinafter referred to as a vertical crack) extending in the thickness direction from the surface of the glass substrate is formed using a cutter wheel, a laser irradiation device, or the like along a desired dividing line (scribe process). Next, by applying a bending stress or a tensile stress to the glass substrate along the scribe line, the vertical crack is extended in the thickness direction of the glass substrate to break the glass substrate (break process).
As a conventional glass substrate cutting device, after scribing a glass substrate with a glass cutter wheel, a laser is irradiated to the scribe portion, and then a water jet, He gas, N 2 gas, CO 2 or the like is sprayed as a coolant to laser Patent Document 1 discloses that the irradiated portion is cooled.
In Patent Document 1, as shown in FIG. 5, the
Further,

The
Here, conveyance of a brittle material substrate such as a glass substrate on which a scribe line is formed will be described with reference to FIGS. 9A to 9C. When a brittle material substrate such as a glass substrate on which a scribe line is formed is transported from the scribe device to the break device, an inversion step of inverting the front and back of the brittle material substrate up and down is indispensable.
FIG. 9A to FIG. 9C are schematic views showing an example of a conventional reversing process for reversing the front and back of a brittle material substrate.
At present, the hardness and thickness of the glass substrate are diversified, and it is necessary to transfer the glass substrate on which the type of the glass substrate and the scribe line are formed according to the desired depth of the vertical crack. If the vertical cracks in the glass substrate are too deep, the glass substrate may be divided and dropped when transported from the scribing device to the break device, including when the substrate is changed, and the transport becomes difficult. Moreover, if the vertical crack of the glass substrate is too shallow, a large breaking force is required by the break device after the conveyance.
The description of FIGS. 9A to 9C is a description of the single board transfer operation. In the case of this single board and in the case of the bonded substrate, the substrate is dropped during the conveyance of the board. The impact on the manufacturing process is very different. That is, when the substrate is transported, in the case of a single plate, if the suction surface (one or more) of the suction pad covers the scribe portion, the substrate is unlikely to drop off, but the suction surface of the suction pad. If the scribe portion is not covered, the substrate may fall off. On the other hand, in the case of a bonded substrate, the upper and lower substrates are bonded to the part that becomes the array substrate by the sealing material, and it is difficult to drop off when the substrate is transported, but the end of the substrate opposite to the suction surface of the suction pad The material part is assumed to be removed for the purpose of taking out the terminal, and since it is not pasted by the sealing material, there is a high risk of being separated from the scribe part by its own weight and falling off. Dropping off due to the dead weight of the end material portion where the terminal is placed as described above leads to further troubles during substrate transportation. If a substrate falls off during substrate transfer, the operation of the transfer robot will be hindered, and it will be necessary to restart the transfer robot after it has been stopped. It will only shorten and interfere with production.

And a process of irradiating the surface of the brittle material substrate with far infrared rays by a far infrared irradiation means.
With the above configuration, the operation of the present invention will be described below.
In the present invention, the cutter means is press-rolled to the surface of the brittle material substrate to form a scribe line, and the brittle material substrate at a position away from the cutter means by a predetermined distance behind the cutter means in the rolling direction. The depth of the vertical crack from the scribe line is controlled by the condition for scribing by heating with the heating means and the condition for scribing by forming the scribe line by pressing the cutter means to the surface of the brittle material substrate. . The heating of the brittle material substrate in this case may be performed within a time range from when a vertical crack is generated from the scribe line until the extension is completed. Furthermore, the case where the cooling fluid is sprayed to the cooling region including the scribe line by the cooling means between the cutter means and the heating means or downstream of the heating means may be added to the condition for controlling the depth of the vertical crack. Is possible. This makes it possible to stably form vertical cracks having different depths without changing the type of cutter wheel.
According to the present invention, a scribe line formed on a brittle material substrate using a cutter wheel is heated by, for example, laser irradiation, or heated and cooled by, for example, laser irradiation, so that the cutter wheel is replaced and the shape of the cutter wheel, etc. Without changing the vertical crack, the vertical crack extending in the depth direction from the scribe line can be stably formed by changing it shallower or deeper than the vertical crack formed by only the cutter wheel. As a result, the number of processing steps can be reduced, and the depth of vertical cracks can be set according to the thickness and type of the fragmented brittle material substrate. A brittle material substrate can be transported.
As a result, it is possible to satisfactorily maintain the operating efficiency of the transfer system including the transfer robot generated by dropping the substrate from the scribe location due to its own weight.

(Experiment 1)
In Table 1 below, the
Condition A in Table 1 is a conventional scribing method in which scribing was performed only with the
Condition B is the case of Example 1 described above, and is the case where the laser is irradiated at the same time as scribing with the
Condition C and condition D are in the case of Example 2 described above, and are a case where laser irradiation and water are jetted onto the
Condition E is a comparative example of Condition B, in which the
Condition F is a comparative example of the above condition C, and is a case where water is sprayed onto the
In addition, by combining the above conditions A, B, and C or D, the

The present invention can also be applied to scribing a bonded substrate in which two glass substrates such as a liquid crystal display panel are bonded.
The following Table 2 shows that a
In addition, one
Moreover, in
As described above, according to the first embodiment, the

The present invention is a brittle material substrate cutting device for forming a vertical crack of a desired depth by irradiating a laser beam to a scribe line after scribing to the surface of a brittle material substrate such as a glass substrate by a cutter wheel, and In the field of a method for dividing a brittle material substrate such as a glass substrate using the same, a scribe line formed on the brittle material substrate using a cutter wheel is heated by laser irradiation, or heated and cooled by laser irradiation, thereby cutting the cutter wheel. Without changing the shape of the cutter wheel by replacing the vertical crack, the vertical crack extending in the depth direction from the scribe line can be changed to be shallower or deeper than the vertical crack formed by the cutter wheel alone and stably formed. Can do.
