Description

The present invention relates to a knee guard device provided in front of a passenger seat of a vehicle.

Generally, a knee guard device includes a pair of knee guard members provided on a steering beam and a glove box provided so as to be positioned in front of the knee guard member, as described in Patent Document 1 below. In the frontal collision of the vehicle, the occupant's knee in the auxiliary seat hits the knee guard member through the glove box. The knee guard member relieves an impact acting on the occupant by being deformed, and prevents a situation in which the occupant sinks below the instrument panel by receiving the knee.

Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 11-321501

A glove box housing portion is inserted between the pair of knee guard members. In order to widen the internal space of the housing portion, it is desirable to make the length of the housing portion in the left-right direction as long as possible. However, in the conventional knee guard device, the knee guard member is arranged with the width direction directed in the left-right direction. Therefore, the length of the housing portion in the left-right direction must be shortened by the width of the pair of knee guard members. As a result, there has been a problem that the internal space of the housing portion becomes narrow. Of course, if the width of the knee guard member is reduced, the length of the accommodating portion can be increased, but if so, the strength of the knee guard member is lowered and the knee cannot be received.

In order to solve the above-described problem, the present invention provides a pair of knee guard members that are disposed in front of a passenger seat and are spaced apart from each other in the left-right direction and supported by a vehicle body, and the pair of knee guard members that are provided in the vehicle body. A knee guard device including a glove box having a storage portion inserted between the upper guard plate and the knee guard member disposed on the outer side of the pair of knee guard members; A side plate portion that protrudes downward from a side portion located on the outer side in the left-right direction of the upper plate portion with the thickness direction directed in the left-right direction, and is disposed inside the pair of knee guard members. And a side plate that protrudes downward from a side portion located on the inner side in the left-right direction of the upper plate portion in a state in which the thickness direction is directed to the left-right direction. And have a part The outer knee guard member is positioned above the upper plate portion so that the upper plate portion faces the housing portion in the vertical direction, and the side plate portion faces the outer end portion in the left-right direction of the housing portion. And the inner knee guard member is positioned above the upper plate portion so that the upper plate portion corresponds to the upper and lower portions of the inner guard member, and the side plate portion faces the inner end portion in the left-right direction of the storage portion. It is characterized by being arranged.
In this case, both end portions of a steering beam extending in the left-right direction are fixed to both side portions of the vehicle body, the pair of knee guard members are fixed to the steering beam, and the upper plate portion and the side plate portion are separated from the steering beam. It is desirable that they are arranged so as to extend rearward toward the passenger seat.
Moreover, it is desirable that the pair of knee guard members are connected to each other by a connecting portion extending in the left-right direction.

According to the present invention having the above-described characteristic configuration, each knee guard member has a shape like a ridge bent at a right angle when viewed from the front-rear direction by the upper plate portion and the side plate portion, and the upper plate portion and the side plate portion. Reinforce each other. Therefore, the knee guard member can sufficiently secure a predetermined strength enough to receive the knee of the passenger in the auxiliary seat at the time of a frontal collision of the vehicle. Moreover, since each upper board part of a pair of knee guard members is arrange | positioned above the accommodating part, and each side board part is arrange | positioned so as to oppose the both ends of an accommodating part, the width | variety of the left-right direction of an upper board part is made wide. Even if it does, it does not affect the length of the accommodating part at all, and the length of the accommodating part is shortened only by the thickness of the side plate portions of the pair of knee guard members. Therefore, the length of the storage portion in the left-right direction can be increased compared to the conventional knee guard device, and the internal space of the storage portion can be widened accordingly.

The fixing member 6 arranged on the right side (outside) in FIG. 3 is made of a metal plate material, and has a top plate portion 6a whose thickness direction is inclined vertically and a horizontal direction of the top plate portion 6a. It is comprised by a pair of fixed board part 6b, 6b which each protrudes in the substantially perpendicular downward direction from the both sides. The top plate portion 6a is arranged in an inclined state so as to go downward as it goes backward. The lower surface of the fixed plate portion 6b is substantially horizontal. As a result, the width in the vertical direction of the fixed plate portion 6b is gradually increased toward the front. The lower surfaces of the fixed plate portions 6b and 6b are fixed to the outer end of the upper surface of the connecting plate portion 5a by fixing means such as welding, whereby the fixing member 6 is fixed to the connecting member 5. The fixing member 6 is disposed at a position where the fixing plate portion 6b on the outer side (right side in FIG. 3) is slightly shifted to the upper side or the inner side of the side plate portion 5b on the outer side of the connecting member 5.

The fixing member 7 has a top plate portion 7a and fixing plate portions 7b and 7b formed in substantially the same shape as the top plate portion 6a and the fixing plate portions 6b and 6b of the fixing member 6, and the fixing plate portion 7b. , 7b are fixed to the left (inner side) end of the upper surface of the connecting plate portion 5a by fixing means such as welding, whereby the fixing member 7 is fixed to the connecting member 5. The fixing member 7 is disposed at a position where the fixing plate portion 7b on the inner side (left side in FIG. 3) is slightly shifted to the position just above or outside the side plate portion 5c on the inner side of the connecting member 5.

A notch portion 6 c is formed on the distal end surface of the fixing plate portion 6 b of the fixing member 6. As shown in FIG. 2, the right end portion of the reinforcing portion 1b is inserted into the notch portion 6c. A concave portion 7 c is formed on the distal end surface of each fixing plate portion 7 b of the fixing member 7. The left end portion of the reinforcing portion 1b is inserted into the concave portion 7c.

As indicated by imaginary lines in FIG. 1, an instrument panel 8 is fixed to the steering beam 1. The instrument panel 8 is arranged behind the steering beam 1 so as to cover the steering beam 1 from the passenger compartment side. A glove box 9 is provided below the right end of the instrument panel 8 located in front of the passenger seat.

As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the glove box 9 includes a box body 9A, a lid body 9B, a reinforcing portion 9C, and a decorative plate 9D.

The box main body 9A includes a mounting portion 9a, side plate portions 9b and 9c, and a back plate portion 9d. The mounting portion 9a is formed in a substantially rectangular frame shape that is long in the left-right direction when viewed from the passenger compartment side. The side plate portions 9b and 9c and the back plate portion 9d are provided integrally with the mounting portion 9a. The right side plate portion 9b is disposed along the inner peripheral portion of the right end portion of the mounting portion 9a and protrudes forward from the mounting portion 9a. The left side plate portion 9c is disposed along the inner peripheral portion of the left end portion of the mounting portion 9a and protrudes forward from the mounting portion 9a. The back plate portion 9d is integrally connected at its left and right end portions to the front end portions of the side plate portions 9c and 9d, and its upper and lower end portions are integrally connected to the inner peripheral portion of the upper and lower end portions of the mounting portion 9a. . A recess 9e that is recessed forward is formed in the lower portion of the back plate portion 9d. The side plate portions 9c and 9d and the back plate portion 9d (including the recess 9e) constitute a storage portion 9E having a storage space that is open toward the passenger seat.

The mounting portion 9 a is fixed to the instrument panel 8. Therefore, the box body 9 </ b> A may be formed integrally with the instrument panel 8. In a state in which the mounting portion 9a is fixed to the instrument panel 8, the mounting portion 9a is connected to the rear end surfaces (vehicle compartment side) of the connecting plate portion 5a, the side plate portion 5b, the top plate portions 6a and 7a, and the fixing plate portions 6b and 7b. Facing the front-rear direction so as to be substantially in contact with the surface facing the surface. Further, the upper portion of the accommodating portion 9E is inserted into a space defined by the connecting plate portion 5a and the side plate portions 9b and 9c. As a result, the side plate portion 9b (end portion on the outside of the accommodating portion 9E) faces the outer side plate portion 5b substantially in contact with the inside in the left-right direction, and the side plate portion 9c (end portion on the inner side of the accommodating portion 9E). However, they face each other in the left-right direction with the inner side plate portion 5c substantially in contact with the outer side plate portion 5c. Moreover, each upper end part (upper end part of the accommodating part 9E) of the side plate parts 9d and 9c and the back plate part 9d is opposed to the connecting plate part 5a in the vertical direction.

The protective member 4 is fixed to the front surface of the back plate portion 9d of the box body 9A by bolts or other fixing means. When the glove box 9 (box body 9A) is fixed to the instrument panel 8, the steering beam 1 is inserted into the notch 6c and the recess 7c of the protective member 4. Thereby, the glove box 9 is positioned and supported by the steering beam 1. Therefore, the glove box 9 can be easily attached to the instrument panel 8.

The lid body 9B has a shielding plate portion 9f. The lower end portion of the shielding plate portion 9f is attached so as to be rotatable in the vertical direction around a horizontal shaft 9g provided at the lower portion of the rear surface (the surface facing the passenger seat side) of the mounting portion 9a. The shielding plate portion 9f can rotate by a predetermined angle (for example, 60 °) between the closed position and the open position. When the shielding member 8f is rotated to the closed position, the shielding member 8f hits the rear surface (the surface facing the vehicle compartment) of the mounting portion 9a and closes the opening portion of the housing portion 9E. On the other hand, if it rotates to an open position, it will space apart from the mounting part 9a to the vehicle compartment side, and will open the open part of the accommodating part 9E. A pocket portion 9h opened upward is formed in the lower portion of the surface facing the front of the shielding plate portion 9f. The pocket portion 9h enters the recess 9e when the lid body 9B rotates to the closed position, and at least the upper end opening is exposed from the recess 9e to the vehicle compartment side when the lid body 9B rotates to the open position. Goods can be taken in and out. A reinforcing portion 9C and a decorative plate 9D are sequentially fixed to the rear surface of the shielding plate portion 9f. The lid body 9B, the reinforcing portion 9C, and the decorative plate 9D constitute a lid (lid body) 9F that opens and closes the opening of the housing portion 9E.

When the vehicle has a frontal collision with the lid 9F closed, the knee of the passenger in the passenger seat hits the protective member 4 via the lid 9F of the glove box 9 and the box body 9A. More specifically, the occupant's knees are fixed to the rear surfaces of the left and right ends of the connecting plate 5a of the connecting member 5 and the left and right ends of the lid 9F and the left and right ends of the mounting portion 9a of the box body 9A. It strikes against the rear surfaces of the top plate portions 6a and 7a and the fixed plate portions 6b and 7b of the members 6 and 7, respectively. The left and right ends of the connecting plate portion 5a and the fixing members 6, 7 receive the knee while being crushed in the front-rear direction.

Here, the side plate portion 5b and the fixing plate portion 6b are integrally provided at the right end portion of the connecting plate portion 5a and the side portion of the top plate portion 6a of the fixing member 6 so as to be orthogonal to each other. The right end portion of 5a and the top plate portion 6a and the side plate portion 5b and the fixed plate portion 6b of the fixing member 6 reinforce each other by forming a hook shape bent at a right angle when viewed from the passenger compartment side. The same applies to the left end portion of the connecting plate portion 5a and the top plate portion 7a of the fixing member 7, and the side plate portion 5c and the fixing plate portion 7b. Accordingly, the left and right knees of the occupant can be sufficiently received while mitigating the impact.

As is apparent from the above description, in this embodiment, the right end portion and the side plate portion 5b of the connecting plate portion 5a and the fixing member 6 constitute a right (outside) knee guard member, and the left end portion of the connecting plate portion 5a and The side plate portion 5c and the fixing member 7 constitute a left (outside) knee guard member. Therefore, the connection part is comprised by the connection board part 5a. In the right knee guard member, the upper plate portion is constituted by the right end portion of the connecting plate portion 5 a and the top plate portion 6 a of the fixing member 6. That is, the upper plate portion has a double structure. Therefore, the knee can be received more reliably. The side plate portion of the right knee guard member is constituted by the side plate portion 5 b and the right fixing plate portion 6 b of the fixing member 6. Similarly, in the left knee guard member, an upper plate portion is constituted by the left end portion of the connecting plate portion 5a and the top plate portion 7a of the fixing member 7, and the left plate portion 5b and the fixing plate portion 7b on the left side of the fixing member 7 are provided on the left side. A side plate portion of the knee guard member is configured.

Further, since the accommodating portion 9E is disposed below the connecting plate portion 5a and the fixing members 6 and 7 and inserted between the left and right side plate portions 5b and 5b, the left and right sides of the connecting plate portion 5a and the fixing members 6 and 7 are inserted. The length in the direction does not affect the length of the accommodating portion 9E, and the length of the accommodating portion 9E is only affected by the thickness of the side plate portions 5b and 5c. However, the thickness of the side plate portions 5b and 5c is significantly thinner than the length (width) of the fixing members 6 and 7 in the left-right direction. Therefore, the length of the storage portion 9E in the left-right direction can be increased, and the storage space of the storage portion 9E can be increased accordingly.

In addition, this invention is not limited to said embodiment, In the range which does not deviate from the summary, it can change suitably.
For example, in the above-described embodiment, since the passenger seat is arranged on the right side of the vehicle when viewed from the rear of the vehicle, the knee guard device is also arranged on the right side, but the passenger seat is arranged on the left side. The knee guard device is also arranged on the left side.
In the above embodiment, the right end portion of the connecting member 5 and the fixing member 6 constitute an outer (one) knee guard member, and the left end portion of the connecting member 5 and the fixing member 7 provide the inner (other) inner guard member. Although the knee guard member is configured, the outer fixed plate portion 6b and the side plate portion 5b of the fixing member 6 are integrally provided as the outer knee guard member, and the inner fixed plate portion 7b and the side plate portion of the fixing member 7 are provided. 5c may be provided integrally and used as an inner knee guard member. In that case, the outer knee guard member and the inner knee guard member may be connected to each other by a connecting member corresponding to the connecting plate portion 5a, or may be members independent of each other.
