Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an exhaust gas purifying catalyst.
The exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine such as an automobile contains environmental pollutants such as hydrocarbon (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and nitrogen oxide (NOx). In recent years, in order to remove these environmental pollutants, various exhaust gas purification catalysts have been developed. As an example, an exhaust gas purification catalyst obtained by coating a slurry on a predetermined honeycomb carrier is known. The slurry contains a porous base material typified by alumina, and the porous base material carries a noble metal as a catalyst component. As the noble metal, at least one of platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), and rhodium (Rh) is used.
However, although a ZrCe composite oxide (for example, Rh / ZCN or the like) on which a noble metal is supported is excellent in OSC performance as described above, it has a property that the poisoning component is strongly adsorbed. Therefore, a conventional exhaust gas purification catalyst, that is, an exhaust gas purification catalyst using a ZrCe composite oxide on which a noble metal is supported, is excellent in OSC performance, but is strongly influenced by poisoning components contained in the exhaust gas. More specifically, the poisoning resistance is inferior. Specifically, as the amount of CeO 2 contained in the ZrCe composite oxide supporting the noble metal increases, the exhaust gas purification performance of the exhaust gas purification catalyst tends to gradually decrease. . An example is shown in FIG.
FIG. 3 shows the amount of CeO 2 contained in the Rh / ZCN (specifically, CeO 2 / CeO 2 + ZrO 2 ), the light-off T50 (° C.), in the exhaust gas purification catalyst using Rh / ZCN. It is a bluff showing the relationship. The light-off T50 (° C.) is the temperature at which the purification rate of HC, CO, NOx by the exhaust gas purification catalyst is measured while raising the temperature from room temperature to 500 ° C., and each purification rate reaches 50%. Means. In addition, Rh / ZCN shown in the figure means a material in which Rh (rhodium) is supported at 0.2 wt% on a ZrCeNd composite oxide.
As shown in FIG. 3, it can be seen that the higher the amount of CeO 2 contained in Rh / ZCN, the higher the temperature of the light-off T50 (° C.). In general, the higher the temperature of the light-off T50 (° C.), the lower the exhaust gas purifying catalyst is affected by poisoning components contained in the exhaust gas, and the lower the exhaust gas purifying performance. Therefore, in the conventional exhaust gas purifying catalyst, since the relationship shown in FIG. 3 is recognized, the greater the amount of CeO 2 contained in Rh / ZCN, the poorer the poisoning resistance. The purification performance tends to gradually decrease.
The present invention has been made in view of such problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst excellent not only in OSC performance but also in poisoning resistance.
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention is an exhaust gas purifying catalyst in which a coating layer containing a noble metal as a catalyst component is formed on a honeycomb carrier, and as the coating layer, in order from the honeycomb carrier side, A first layer, a second layer, and a third layer are formed. The first layer contains a porous base material on which a noble metal is supported and a ZrCe composite oxide. The second layer is a noble metal. Is contained, and the third layer contains Zr alumina on which rhodium (Rh) is supported.
In the present invention, the first layer contains an alumina porous substrate on which palladium (Pd) is supported and a ZrCeNd composite oxide, and the second layer supports rhodium (Rh). It is preferable to contain the prepared ZrCeNd composite oxide.
In the present invention, the ZrCeNd composite oxide contains ZrO 2 , CeO 2 , and Nd 2 O 3 , and the Zr alumina contains ZrO 2 , Al 2 O 3 , and La 2 O 3. Is preferred.
In the present invention, the second layer contains a ZrCe composite oxide on which a noble metal is supported, and the ZrCe composite oxide on which the noble metal is supported is excellent in OSC performance. Therefore, the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention in which such a second layer is formed as a coating layer has excellent OSC performance. Moreover, in the present invention, the third layer functions as a poisoning trap layer of the second layer, and for example, diffusion of poisoning components to the second layer is physically prevented or suppressed. Further, the third layer contains RhZr, and H 2 is generated by the steam reforming reaction of RhZr. And the re-decomposition of the anion adsorbed on the third layer is promoted by the action of H 2 . Since the anion is a causative substance of the exhaust gas purification catalyst, the second layer poisoning is chemically prevented or suppressed by promoting the re-decomposition of the anion as in the present invention. Therefore, the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention in which such a third layer is formed as a coating layer has excellent poisoning resistance.
According to the present invention, it is possible to provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst that is excellent not only in OSC performance but also in poisoning resistance.
Hereinafter, the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the present invention will be described with reference to the present embodiment.
As shown in Table 1, each of the exhaust gas purifying catalysts of Examples and Comparative Examples 1 and 2 is formed by forming a coating layer containing a noble metal as a catalyst component on a honeycomb carrier. The composition is different. That is, in the case of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the example, the first layer, the second layer, and the third layer are formed as the coating layer sequentially from the honeycomb carrier side. The first layer is abbreviated as a porous substrate made of alumina (Pd / alumina) carrying palladium (Pd), a noble metal, and a ZrCe composite oxide (hereinafter referred to as “ZCNI”) carrying neodymium (Nd). .). Note that this first layer, is also included CeO 2. The second layer contains a ZrCe composite oxide (hereinafter abbreviated as “Rh / ZCNII”) on which rhodium (Rh), which is a noble metal, is supported. The third layer contains Zr alumina (hereinafter abbreviated as “Rh / Zr alumina”) supporting rhodium (Rh). The ZrCe composite oxides (ZCNI and ZCNII) described above all contain ZrO 2 , CeO 2 , and Nd 2 O 3, and the proportions of the respective components are as shown in Table 1. That is, in the case of ZCNI, ZrO 2 / CeO 2 / Nd 2 O 3 = 67/23/30, and in the case of ZCNII, ZrO 2 / CeO 2 / Nd 2 O 3 = 80/10/10 is there. Further, Zr alumina described above, contains ZrO 2, Al 2 O 3, La 2 O 3, the proportion of each component is a ZrO 2 / Al 2 O 3 / La 2 O 3 = 10/86/4 .
On the other hand, in the case of the exhaust gas purifying catalysts of Comparative Examples 1 and 2, the first layer and the second layer are formed in order from the honeycomb carrier side as the coating layer. Unlike the catalyst for use, the third layer is not formed. The composition of the first layer is the same as that of the first layer of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the example. However, the composition of the second layer is different from the composition of the second layer of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the example. Specifically, the second layer of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of Comparative Example 1 is composed of Rh (0.117) / ZCNII (73), and the second layer of the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of Comparative Example 2 is It is composed by mixing the components of the third layer described above into the second layer, and is composed of Rh (0.082) / ZCNII (73) and Rh (0.035) / Zr alumina (30). Yes.
Next, in this example, the light-off T50 (° C.) and the 400 ° C. purification rate (%) were measured for the exhaust gas purification catalysts of Examples and Comparative Examples 1 and 2. The measurement results are shown in FIGS. FIG. 1 is a bluff showing the light-off T50 (° C.) of each exhaust gas purification catalyst, and FIG. 2 is a bluff showing the 400 ° C. purification rate (%) of each exhaust gas purification catalyst.
As shown in FIG. 1, the light-off T50 (° C.) of HC, CO, and NOx is lower in Comparative Example 2 than in Comparative Example 1 and lower in Example than in Comparative Example 2. showed that. Further, as shown in FIG. 2, the 400 ° C. purification rate (%) of HC and CO is almost the same value (%) in Examples and Comparative Examples 1 and 2, but 400 ° C. purification of NOx. As for the rate (%), the example showed a higher value (%) than either of the comparative examples 1 and 2. These results indicate that the higher the temperature of the light-off T50 (° C.), the lower the exhaust gas purification catalyst is affected by poisoning components contained in the exhaust gas, and the lower the exhaust gas purification performance. This indicates that the lower the temperature (° C.), the less the exhaust gas purification catalyst is affected by poisoning components contained in the exhaust gas, and the higher the exhaust gas purification performance. That is, the results of FIGS. 1 and 2 show that the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of the example is superior not only in the OSC performance but also in the poisoning resistance as compared with the exhaust gas purifying catalyst of Comparative Examples 1 and 2.
