Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method of attaching a barcode to an end face of a steel plate and reading it.
For process control in the steel plate production line, it is necessary to write information such as the standard symbol, product number, product size, and user name of the product on the steel plate. Since the finished product is stacked and stored in the yard, this information needs to be marked not only on the surface of the steel sheet but also on the end face.
Conventionally, a barcode is printed on a label and the label is attached. However, since the steel plate is shear-cut or gas-cut, its end surface has many irregularities, and the thickness of the end surface of the steel plate may be as thin as about 5 mm. For this reason, there existed problems, such as a label being easy to peel off.

The problem of the prior art is solved by printing a barcode directly on the end face of the steel plate and reading it with a barcode reader.
The present invention relates to a method for reading a bar code written on a steel plate end face, applying white paint on the steel plate end face, printing a dot on the bar code with dark ink using an ink jet printer, The bar code is read by scanning the end face with the laser beam while moving the laser beam of the bar code reader in the height direction.
It was found that there were various problems to be solved when trying to dot-print barcodes directly on the end face of a steel plate.
The end face of the steel sheet has irregularities on its surface due to shear cutting and gas cutting. Therefore, when the barcode is dot-printed on the end surface with an ink jet printer, the ink may be peeled off, blurred, or distorted. An example of peeling and fading is shown in Fig. 2 (1), and an example of distortion is shown in Fig. 2 (2). If the laser beam of the barcode reader hits such a defective part, there is a possibility that reading cannot be performed. The present invention solves such a problem.
In addition, since a thick steel plate is manufactured by hot rolling, the temperature of the steel plate is as high as 300 ° C. after manufacturing. In the case of a thin plate having a thickness of about 5 to 9 mm, it is cooled during the process, and the temperature is likely to drop. When barcode dot printing is performed in a high temperature state, the discriminability decreases due to scattering of ink (paint). As a result of the experiment, printing at 300 ° C. is possible, but it is possible up to about 270 ° C. from the ease of reading the characters. If the temperature exceeds 200 ° C., the barcode does not have an accurate shape, and blurring, distortion, etc. occur, and reading tends to be inaccurate or impossible. Further, in a barcode printed with dots at a high temperature, the ink (paint) does not adhere firmly and easily peels off during subsequent handling, resulting in a similar problem. The barcode reading accuracy, which tends to occur when the barcode is directly printed on the end surface of the steel plate, is prevented, and reading accuracy of the barcode is improved by the present invention.
Another problem also arises when the barcode is printed with dots. When a barcode is printed by an ink jet printer, the bar is printed as a connection of dots as shown in (1) of FIG. According to the standard, the bar code consists of a narrow bar (NB), a wide bar (WB), and a narrow space (NS) and a wide space (WS) between them. The ratio of the width is as shown in (2) of FIG. It is decided as follows.
NB: WB = NS: WS = 1: 2 to 1: 3
If the ratio of narrow and wide deviates from the above, reading becomes unstable. For example, the position B in FIG. 3A corresponds to the center of the dot, and can be read if the ratio of narrow to wide is within an allowable range. However, the position A corresponds to the dot depression, and there is a high possibility that the ratio cannot be read beyond the allowable range. In other words, the reading accuracy is not stable depending on whether it hits the B position or the A position by a slight deviation of the position where the laser for reading hits. The present invention also solves this problem.
There are two methods of scanning a laser beam with a barcode reader. That is, there is a single method in which one position in the height direction of the barcode is read with one laser beam, and a raster method in which 5 to 10 laser beams are emitted in the height direction of the barcode. Since the raster method scans a plurality of locations, reading accuracy is improved. When a barcode is applied to the end surface of the steel plate, the height of the barcode is unified to about 5 mm according to the thickness of 5 mm of the thinnest steel plate. Then, as shown in FIG. 4, when a barcode comes between laser beams, the barcode may not be read. The present invention also solves this problem.
First, white paint is applied to the end surface of the steel plate, and a barcode is dot-printed thereon using an ink jet printer with dark ink, preferably black ink. Tech Marker PMK (trademark, Mark Tech Co., Ltd.) can be used as a white paint suitable for application to a high-temperature steel sheet. A printing apparatus per se suitable for dot printing on a steel plate is known, and for example, an ink jet printer MX-P (trademark, Marktec Corporation) can be used. As a black ink suitable for printing on a high-temperature object, for example, Eco-Ink IS-01B (trademark, Marktec Corporation) can be used.
FIG. 1 shows a sketch showing the concept of the present invention. In the figure, the steel plate 9 moves relatively to the left and the
Preferably, the laser beam is moved a distance of the thickness of the steel plate end face + at least 10 mm, more preferably at least 20 mm, and preferably at most 60 mm, more preferably at most 40 mm.
インクとして、エコインクIS−01B(商標、マークテック株式会社)を使用した。
As a steel plate, a 300 × 50 × 6 mm steel plate prepared by gas cutting was used.
Each steel plate was heated to a predetermined temperature of 100 to 300 ° C. in a heating furnace, and used as a model of the steel plate that came out of the rolling process. In addition, a room temperature steel plate was also used.
Using white paint tech marker PMK (trademark, Marktech Co., Ltd.) as the undercoat paint, using the marking device S-100 (trademark, Marktech Co., Ltd.), the length of the end face of the steel sheet is 300 mm, and the thickness direction The white paint was applied throughout. The paint was dried 2 seconds after the application of the paint, and then a barcode was printed with dots using an inkjet printer MX-P (trademark, Marktec Corporation). As an ink, Eco Ink IS-01B (trademark, Marktec Co., Ltd.) was used. The diameter of the dots was about 0.2 mm, and the interval between the dots was 0.2 mm.
The bar code was CODE39, which is widely used industrially. Since CODE39 expresses one character using nine bars and spaces, it has a larger number of bars than other codes, so it is a reliable code with few misreadings. In this example, the barcode height was 4 mm, and the barcode length was 65 mm (9 characters).
After the steel plate was at room temperature, the barcode was read with a long-distance laser barcode reader BL-781 (manufactured by Keyence Corporation). That is, the barcode reader was placed on the moving table shown in FIG. 1, and reading was performed while moving about 30 mm in the thickness direction of the end surface on the reading surface. The relative moving speed between the steel plate and the barcode reader was about 20 mm / sec. The Keyence device used was scanned 700 times / second. For comparison, reading was performed under the same conditions, except that the barcode reader was fixed toward the center of the end face of the steel plate. The results are shown in Table 1.
Regarding the discoloration of the bar code due to high heat, discoloration was observed when the temperature of the steel plate was 270 ° C., but the bar was visually discernable.
In the case of 300 ° C., the color of the bar code was light and could not be judged visually.
