Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an adaptive array antenna system and a weighting factor calculation control method.
上記したMMSEベースの適応アルゴリズムとしては、LMS(Least Mean Square)やRLS(Recursive Least-Squares)などが使用される。 Conventionally, an adaptive array antenna system is provided with an array antenna composed of a plurality of antenna elements, and the received signals of each antenna element are weighted using a weighting factor for controlling the directivity of the array antenna and then synthesized and output. . The weighting coefficient is calculated by an adaptive algorithm based on a minimum mean square error (MMSE) method so that the square error between the received signal of each antenna element and the reference signal is minimized. A device that calculates a weighting coefficient by controlling is known (for example, see Non-Patent Document 1). As the above MMSE-based adaptive algorithm, LMS (Least Mean Square), RLS (Recursive Least-Squares), or the like is used.
In some cases, the weighting coefficient update process is not performed until the weighting coefficient error increases as reception errors such as CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) errors occur in the received signal.
However, the conventional techniques described above have the following problems.
In a system that reduces the number of weight coefficient updates based on the fading speed of the mobile terminal device, the determination of whether or not the weight coefficient update frequency can be reduced depends on empirically obtained conditions. Correspondingly, the number of updates is not necessarily reduced, and reception quality may be degraded.
In addition, in a system in which the weighting coefficient is updated after a reception error occurs, there is a possibility that the reception quality may be seriously adversely affected.
In order to make the weighting factor accurately follow the fluctuations in the propagation path characteristics of the received signal, it is not desirable to reduce the number of times the weighting factor is updated, but a large amount of calculation increases the current consumption of the mobile terminal, It has adverse effects such as an increase in size and a shortened battery life.
For these reasons, it is desired to obtain an appropriate weight coefficient and reduce the amount of calculation.
The present invention has been made in view of such circumstances, and an object thereof is an adaptive array antenna system capable of reducing power consumption by reducing the amount of calculation required to obtain an appropriate weighting coefficient. A calculation is executed, and the evaluation means determines that the adaptive control calculation has converged when the moving average square error continuously falls below a predetermined value a predetermined number of times.
4. A calculation is performed, and the evaluation means determines that the adaptive control calculation has converged when a rate of change of the moving average square error falls below a predetermined value.
The weighting factor calculation control method according to
According to the present invention, the convergence state of the adaptive control in the calculation of the weighting factor is evaluated, and the operation of the adaptive control is controlled according to the evaluation result. Therefore, the amount of calculation required to obtain an appropriate weighting factor is reduced. be able to. As a result, the power consumption of the DSP or the like is reduced, so that the power consumption can be reduced.

In FIG. 2, a pilot signal is a known signal and is composed of 96 elements (96 chips) of a spread signal (PN code) in the CDMA system.

These received signals x 1 ~x 4 correspond respectively to the antenna elements ANT1~4.

The
この適応アルゴリズムとしては、LMS(Least Mean Square)やRLS(Recursive Least-Squares)などが利用可能である。 Weight calculation unit 10 (weighting coefficient calculation means), the MMSE-based adaptive algorithm to calculate the weighting coefficients w 1 to w 4 for controlling the directivity of the array antenna consisting of antenna elements ANT1~4.

The weight calculation control unit 16 (control means) controls the operation of adaptive control by the
Next, a method for evaluating the convergence status of the above-described adaptive control will be described.
In this embodiment, the convergence state of adaptive control by the
First, the first evaluation method will be described. FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining the first evaluation method. In the first evaluation method, as shown in FIG. 3, if the moving average square error E is continuously lower than the predetermined threshold value Th by a predetermined number of times, it is determined that the adaptive control by the
Next, the second evaluation method will be described. In this second evaluation method, based on the rate of change of the moving average square error E, it is determined whether or not the adaptive control by the
If the rate of change β is smaller than a predetermined threshold value β0, it is determined that the convergence has occurred.
When it is determined that the adaptive control by the
移動平均二乗誤差は、CIR(Carrier to Interference Ratio)の改善度と相関があることが知られている。
As described above, in the present embodiment, it is determined that the adaptive control by the
Next, the operation control method of the adaptive control described above will be described. In the present embodiment, in the updating process of the weighting factor for each pilot by the
First, the first operation control method will be described. In the first operation control method, the operation of the adaptive control is stopped after it is determined that the adaptive control by the
Next, the second operation control method will be described. FIG. 4 is a diagram for explaining the second operation control method. In the second operation control method, as shown in FIG. 4, after it is determined that the adaptive control by the
The intermittent operation method described above may be operated at specific intervals.
Further, when the adaptive control by the
Further, the operation interval may be adaptively controlled. In this method of adaptively controlling the operation interval, the convergence

t n + 1 = t n + Δt n + 1 (4)
However, Δt n + 1 is
Δt n + 1 +1 if β (n) <β0,

FIGS. 5 and 6 show simulation results when the operation interval to be adaptively controlled according to the above (4) is adaptively controlled. FIG. 5 is a diagram illustrating a cumulative probability distribution of the number of adaptive control calculations. FIG. 6 is a diagram showing a cumulative probability distribution of the CIR improvement degree.
As shown in FIG. 5, the number of adaptive control computations decreases according to the value of the threshold value β0. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 6, the CIR improvement degree is substantially the same even if the value of the threshold value β0 changes. Thus, according to the present embodiment, the reception quality is maintained, and the amount of calculation required to obtain an appropriate weight coefficient can be reduced. Thereby, power consumption of DSP etc. is reduced.
Note that the adaptive array antenna system of the present invention can be similarly applied to a radio base station.
