Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a vehicle headlamp unit that has an excellent heat dissipation effect and can be miniaturized.
With the progress of LED brightness enhancement technology, LED lamps are used as light sources for vehicle headlamp units. When an LED lamp is used as the light source of the vehicle headlamp unit, the amount of heat generated due to light emission also increases, and thus a device for heat dissipation is required to protect the LED lamp from heat. For example, in Patent Document 1, the heat dissipation effect is enhanced by attaching a heat sink to the LED lamp.
However, since the vehicular headlamp unit is used in a severe environment exposed to wind and rain, the LED lamp, the reflection portion, and the heat sink need to be installed inside a sealed outer case. For this reason, even if a heat sink is attached to the LED lamp, it is necessary to increase the distance from the LED lamp or the heat sink to the outer case in order to protect the outer case from the heat of the heat sink. was there. Although it is conceivable that the outer case is made of a metal having heat resistance, it is difficult to adopt this because the weight of the vehicle cannot be reduced.
In addition, as described in Patent Document 2, even if a radiator is attached to the tip of the base substrate of an array in which a plurality of LED lamps are mounted in a row, the installation space is extremely limited. A sufficient size could not be given to the radiator.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described conventional situation, and an object to be solved is to provide a vehicle headlamp unit that has excellent heat dissipation performance and can be downsized.
The vehicle headlamp unit according to the present invention is an automotive headlamp unit in which an LED lamp serving as a light source and a reflecting portion for reflecting light emitted from the LED lamp are sealed by an outer case.
A metal layer is formed on the inner surface of the outer case.
In the vehicle headlamp unit of the present invention, a metal layer having excellent thermal conductivity is formed on the inner surface of the outer case. For this reason, even if the distance from the LED lamp or the heat sink attached to the LED lamp to the outer case is short and the part becomes a part that is particularly easily heated locally, Can escape. For this reason, the temperature is averaged without overheating a part of the outer case, and heat is radiated in the entire outer case. For this reason, the heat dissipation area increases, heat dissipation is performed efficiently, and the outer case can be downsized.
The method for forming the metal layer is not particularly limited, and a wet plating method such as chemical plating or electroplating, a dry plating method such as vapor deposition, sputtering, or thermal spraying, a method of attaching a metal foil, or the like can be used. The formation of the metal layer by plating is a preferable method because it can be easily performed and the manufacturing cost is low. Although there is no limitation in particular about the kind of plating, chemical copper plating can be given on an outer case, and also the thickness of copper can also be increased by electroplating. Since copper is particularly excellent in thermal conductivity among metals, it is particularly preferable for improving heat dissipation performance. Moreover, it can also be set as the plating excellent in corrosion resistance by giving nickel plating after giving copper plating. Furthermore, it can also be made a surface having a beautiful metallic luster by further chromium plating on the nickel plating.
It is preferable to form a metal layer not only on the inner surface of the outer case but also on the entire surface. This is because the heat dissipation effect by the outer case is enhanced. For example, the plating may be performed not only on the inner surface of the outer case but also on the entire surface. In this case, in addition to the improvement of the heat dissipation effect by the outer case, the masking work for the pretreatment of plating can be omitted, so that the cost of plating can be reduced.
It is also preferable that irregularities are formed on all or part of the outer case. If it is like this, the surface area for heat dissipation will increase by unevenness | corrugation, and also the heat dissipation effect can be made high. It is preferable that the back side of the outer case has a shape in which a plurality of fins are connected. In the outer case having the fin-shaped back surface, the outer case functions as a heat sink, and therefore, an excellent heat dissipation effect can be achieved without providing a separate heat sink. If a separate heat sink is not provided, the number of parts is reduced, the size is reduced, and the assembly workability is improved.
The outer case used in the present invention is preferably made of resin in order to reduce the vehicle weight. The metal layer is formed on the surface of the resin outer case by using wet plating such as chemical plating or electroplating, dry plating such as vapor deposition, sputtering or thermal spraying, or attaching a metal foil such as copper foil to the outer case. be able to. When the metal layer is formed by wet plating, it is possible to use an ABS resin, a plating grade polyacetal resin, or the like that is easy to perform chemical plating. It is also preferable to apply black plating. This is because heat absorption by plating is further promoted and heat dissipation is more effectively performed. Examples of such black plating include zinc plating, black nickel plating, black chrome plating, etc. by forming a black chromate film.
Usually, the thermal conductivity of the resin is low (for example, 0.2 w / m · K ° for ABS resin), but the thermal conductivity of the metal film is much higher than that of the resin (copper: 398 w / m · K °, nickel). : 90.5 w / m · K °, chromium 90.3 w / m · K °). For this reason, even if the outer case is locally heated at a position close to the LED lamp or the heat sink attached to the LED lamp, the heat is quickly generated in the surface direction of the metal layer by the metal film formed on the surface of the outer case. Moving. For this reason, heat radiation from the outer case to the outside air is performed on the entire outer case, and the heat radiation effect is enhanced.
The outer case is preferably made of a heat conductive resin. Examples of the thermally conductive resin include those obtained by adding a metal oxide such as aluminum oxide to a synthetic resin such as polypropylene (PP) resin or ABS resin. By using an outer case made of a heat conductive resin, the heat dissipation effect is further enhanced while being lightweight.
It is preferable to use a part of the inner side surface of the outer case for the reflecting portion. For example, a part of the inner side surface of the outer case has a parabolic shape, and a thin metal layer is formed here to form a reflecting portion (reflector). In this way, the outer case and the reflecting portion can be configured integrally. In this form, an outer case in which a part of the inner surface serves as a reflecting portion is provided. As a result, the number of parts is reduced and the size can be reduced.
Hereinafter, embodiments that further embody the present invention will be described.

High-power white LEDs can be used for the
As the semiconductor light emitting device, a group III nitride compound semiconductor light emitting device is used. Here, the group III nitride compound semiconductor is represented by a general formula of AlXGaYIn1-X-YN (0 ≦ X ≦ 1, 0 ≦ Y ≦ 1, 0 ≦ X + Y ≦ 1). Among these, what includes Al includes a so-called binary system of AlN and a so-called ternary system of AlxGa1-xN and AlxIn1-xN (where 0 <x <1). In the group III nitride compound semiconductor, at least part of the group III element may be substituted with boron (B), thallium (Tl), etc., and at least part of nitrogen (N) is also phosphorus (P), It can be substituted with arsenic (As), antimony (Sb), bismuth (Bi) or the like.
Further, the group III nitride compound semiconductor may contain an arbitrary dopant. As the n-type impurity, silicon (Si), germanium (Ge), selenium (Se), tellurium (Te), carbon (C), or the like can be used. As the p-type impurity, magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), beryllium (Be), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), or the like can be used. Although the group III nitride compound semiconductor can be exposed to electron beam irradiation, plasma irradiation or furnace heating after doping with p-type impurities, it is not essential.
The group III nitride compound semiconductor layer is formed by MOCVD (metal organic chemical vapor deposition). It is not necessary to form all the semiconductor layers constituting the element by the MOCVD method, and the molecular beam crystal growth method (MBE method), halide vapor phase epitaxy method (HVPE method), sputtering method, ion plating method, etc. are used in combination. Is possible.
As a structure of the light-emitting element, a homostructure, a heterostructure, or a double heterostructure having a MIS junction, a PIN junction, or a pn junction can be used. A quantum well structure (single quantum well structure or multiple quantum well structure) can also be adopted as the light emitting layer. Such a group III nitride compound semiconductor light emitting device is a face-up type in which the main light receiving and emitting direction (electrode surface) is the optical axis direction of the optical device, and the reflected light with the main light receiving and emitting direction opposite to the optical axis direction. A flip chip type using the above can be used.
In the vehicle headlamp unit configured as described above, the heat generated when the
Therefore, according to the vehicle headlamp unit of the first embodiment, the heat dissipation performance is excellent and the size can be reduced.
(Embodiment 2)
As shown in FIG. 3, in the vehicle headlamp unit according to the second embodiment, the outer case 7 has irregularities, and the entire surface has a copper plating layer, a nickel plating layer, and A
In the vehicle headlamp unit according to the second embodiment, since the outer case 7 has irregularities, the area for radiating heat from the outer case 7 to the outside air is larger than that of the vehicle headlamp unit according to the first embodiment. As a result, the heat dissipation effect is further increased.

The vehicle headlamp unit according to the third embodiment includes an
