Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fuel cell stack and a method for manufacturing the fuel cell stack.
A fuel cell that generates electricity by an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen has attracted attention as an energy source. This fuel cell includes a fuel cell stack in which membrane electrode assemblies each having gas diffusion electrodes (anode and cathode) bonded to both surfaces of an electrolyte membrane and separators are alternately stacked.
With respect to such a fuel cell stack, various techniques for preventing leakage of reaction gas (fuel gas and oxidant gas) and exhaust gas from the inside of the fuel cell stack have been proposed. . For example,
However, since a high pressure of, for example, about 200 to 300 (kPa) may be applied to the reaction gas flow path inside the fuel cell stack at the time of gas supply, even if the fastening load is applied to the fuel cell stack. In some cases, the high pressure causes the seal member to be deformed and laterally displaced in a direction parallel to the laminated surface, thereby reducing the sealing performance of the seal member. Such a problem is remarkable when a relatively low rigidity material such as rubber is used as the seal member.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to suppress deterioration in sealing performance due to deformation of a sealing member when a reaction gas is supplied in a fuel cell stack.
In order to solve at least a part of the above-described problems, the present invention employs the following configuration. That is, a fuel cell stack according to the present invention includes a membrane electrode assembly unit comprising a membrane electrode assembly in which gas diffusion electrodes are bonded to both surfaces of an electrolyte membrane, and a seal gasket provided around the membrane electrode assembly. A fuel cell stack in which a plurality of separators are stacked with a separator interposed therebetween, wherein the separator is supplied with a reaction gas to be used for power generation in the membrane electrode assembly or an off gas which is a reaction gas not consumed in the power generation. A plurality of through-holes for flowing in the thickness direction, and a peripheral portion of the through-hole on the surface of the other separator that is bonded around and adjacent to the through-hole on at least one surface of the separator The gist of the invention is to provide a sealing member that seals the reactive gas or the off-gas by contacting.
In the fuel cell stack of the present invention, the reaction gas or off-gas flowing in the gas diffusion electrode of the membrane electrode assembly is sealed by the seal gasket provided in the membrane electrode assembly unit. In addition, the reaction gas or off-gas flowing through the through-hole formed in the separator, that is, flowing in the stacking direction of the fuel cell stack, is sealed by a sealing member bonded to the separator. That is, the sealing of the gas flowing in the gas diffusion electrode of the membrane electrode assembly and the sealing of the gas flowing in the stacking direction of the fuel cell stack are performed by separate members. Therefore, for example, the material for forming the seal gasket and the material for forming the seal member, such as making the rigidity of the seal member higher than the rigidity of the seal gasket, depending on the performance required for both. And can be selected as appropriate. In the present invention, since the seal member is bonded to the surface of the separator, the gas flowing in the stacking direction of the fuel cell stack is compared with the case where the gas is sealed only by the frictional force between the seal member and the separator. Lateral deviation when a high pressure is applied to the seal member during supply can be suppressed. As a result, it is possible to suppress a decrease in the sealing performance due to the deformation of the sealing member when the reactive gas is supplied to the fuel cell stack.
In the fuel cell stack, a separate member may be interposed at a contact portion between the seal member bonded to the separator and another separator disposed adjacent to the separator. In this case, the separate member is included in other separators disposed adjacent to each other.
In the fuel cell stack, the seal member is bonded to both surfaces of the separator, and the seal member bonded to the separator and the seal member bonded to the other separator are engaged with each other. You may make it provide a part. By doing so, positioning and the like when stacking a plurality of separators can be easily performed.
In any one of the above fuel cell stacks, the seal gasket includes a lip portion that protrudes from a surface of the seal gasket and contacts the separator, and a peripheral edge portion of the membrane electrode assembly is formed on the lip portion of the seal gasket. It is preferable to be embedded in the region where the part is disposed.
In the membrane electrode assembly unit in which the seal gasket has a lip portion, generally, the seal gasket is formed around the membrane electrode assembly by injection molding. In such a membrane / electrode assembly unit, the adhesion between the seal gasket and the membrane / electrode assembly decreases with time, and the anode and cathode are connected via the interface between the membrane / electrode assembly and the seal gasket. In some cases, cross-leakage of the reaction gas may occur.
On the other hand, in the present invention, the peripheral edge portion of the membrane electrode assembly is embedded in the region where the lip portion is disposed in the seal gasket, so that the pressing force when the lip portion contacts the separator That is, the fastening load applied to the fuel cell stack is applied to the interface between the peripheral edge of the membrane electrode assembly and the seal gasket, and the adhesion between the seal gasket and the membrane electrode assembly is improved. Therefore, it is possible to suppress the cross leak of the reaction gas between the anode and the cathode that occurs through the interface between the membrane electrode assembly assembly and the seal gasket.
In the fuel cell stack, the lip portion is preferably formed integrally with the seal gasket. By doing so, the seal gasket provided with the lip portion and the membrane electrode assembly unit can be easily manufactured by injection molding.
The present invention can be configured as an invention of a method for manufacturing a fuel cell stack in addition to the above-described configuration as a fuel cell stack. That is, a method for producing a fuel cell stack according to the present invention comprises a membrane electrode assembly comprising a membrane electrode assembly in which gas diffusion electrodes are joined to both surfaces of an electrolyte membrane, and a seal gasket provided around the membrane electrode assembly. A method of manufacturing a fuel cell stack in which a plurality of assembly units are stacked with a separator interposed therebetween, the step of manufacturing the membrane electrode assembly unit, the reaction gas used for power generation in the membrane electrode assembly, or the A step of manufacturing the separator having a plurality of through-holes for flowing off-gas, which is an unconsumed reactive gas in power generation, in the thickness direction, and abuts on another separator adjacent to the membrane electrode assembly unit Thus, the sealing member for sealing the reactive gas or the off-gas is adhered to the periphery of the through hole on the surface of the separator. A step, said separator, and is summarized in that comprising the steps of laminating the membrane electrode assembly units alternately. By doing so, the fuel cell stack of the present invention described above can be manufactured. Note that the above-described additional elements can also be applied to this method of manufacturing a fuel cell stack.

As shown in FIG. 3A, the

また、図6(b)に、図6(a)におけるA−A断面図を示した。
C2. Comparative separator:
FIG. 6 is an explanatory diagram showing a configuration of a
As shown in FIG. 6A, the

C3. Cross-sectional structure of the
FIG. 7 is an explanatory view showing a cross-sectional structure of a
C4. Effects of the embodiment:
In the
On the other hand, in the
FIG. 8 is an explanatory view showing another effect of the embodiment. FIG. 8A shows a cross-sectional view of the seal structure of the membrane
As described above, the membrane
