Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a technique for performing a plurality of image processing on original image data.
In recent years, with the development of digital technology, it has become common to perform image processing even on medical X-ray images. In particular, sensors capable of outputting X-ray image data digitally have been developed in place of conventional X-ray imaging using a film. Image processing is indispensable in an X-ray imaging apparatus using this sensor, and various types of image processing are applied to captured images. Gradation conversion processing for converting acquired data into an image having a density or luminance that is easy to observe by performing gradation conversion on captured data is one of important image processes.
In addition, as the shape of the function used for the above-mentioned gradation conversion process, the shape of the S shape similar to the characteristic curve of the silver salt film shown in FIG. 9 is generally used. A method of creating this S-shaped characteristic curve is disclosed in, for example, Patent Document 1.
Furthermore, as a method of associating the S-shaped curve with the pixel value of the photographed image, there is a two-point method shown in FIG. This two-point method is a method in which gradation conversion is performed so that the maximum value and the minimum value of the subject included in the image each have an output value within a certain range. For example, as shown in FIG. 10, gradation conversion is performed so that the pixel value corresponding to the maximum density of 3.2D and the minimum density of 0.2D is between the maximum value and the minimum value.
Further, as a method of associating the S-shaped curve with the pixel value of the photographed image, there is a one-point method shown in FIG. This one-point method is a method of performing gradation conversion so that a pixel value representing a region of interest in a subject becomes a predetermined output value. The gradation is converted so that the maximum pixel value in the lung field of the chest front image becomes a pixel value corresponding to, for example, a density of 1.8D.
Furthermore, a method of automatically analyzing representative pixel values (hereinafter referred to as representative values) used in the above-described one-point method and two-point method (hereinafter referred to as image analysis processing) has also been proposed. For example, Patent Document 2 discloses a method of calculating a pixel value from a histogram of an image, and Patent Document 3 extracts a region of interest from a two-dimensional structure of an image and uses a statistical value of the region of interest as a representative value. A calculation method has been proposed.
By the way, the image processing in the X-ray imaging apparatus is performed in addition to the above-described gradation conversion processing, in addition to processing for changing pixel values such as dynamic range change (compression) processing, sharpening processing, noise reduction processing, and the like. In general, a diagnostic image is output.
For this reason, even if an image having the optimum density or brightness is obtained when the gradation conversion process is performed independently, the pixel value fluctuates due to processes other than the gradation conversion process when a plurality of image processes are performed together. In some cases, an image having an optimal density or brightness may not be obtained due to the influence of the above. That is, even if a representative value is calculated from the original image by image analysis processing and a gradation curve is set at which the representative value has the optimum density or luminance, the value of the representative value itself fluctuates due to other processing. In some cases, the image is not output in terms of density or brightness.
As a method of solving this problem, a method of analyzing representative values from an image in which all image processing other than gradation processing is performed on the original image can be considered. However, in this method, the image to be analyzed itself is affected by image processing.
Therefore, there is a possibility that the image histogram and the two-dimensional structure are different from those assumed, and there is a problem that the image analysis processing becomes unstable. In addition, when the above-described influence is taken into consideration in the image analysis process, it is necessary to prepare a plurality of image analysis processes according to the image process to be applied and the processing parameters in addition to the imaging region. Furthermore, every time image processing is newly added, it is necessary to add or modify the image analysis processing, which is not realistic.
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to obtain an output image having an optimum density or luminance even when a plurality of different image processes are performed on an X-ray image.
The present invention is an image processing apparatus that performs a plurality of image processes on original image data, and includes image analysis means for obtaining a representative value of the original image data, and first image processing on the original image data A first image processing unit for performing, a variation value calculating unit for calculating a variation amount between the representative value acquired by the image analysis unit and the representative value subjected to the first image processing, Second image processing means for performing second image processing on the original image data based on the representative value acquired by the image analysis means and the fluctuation amount calculated by the fluctuation amount calculation means. It is characterized by.
The present invention is also an image processing apparatus that performs a plurality of image processing on original image data, and an image analysis unit that obtains a representative value of the original image data; and second image processing on the original image data Second image processing means for performing the first image processing means for performing the first image processing on the original image data on which the second image processing has been performed, and the second image processing being performed. Based on the fluctuation amount calculated by the fluctuation amount calculation means and the fluctuation amount calculation means for calculating the fluctuation amount of the processing result of the representative value generated by the first image processing with respect to the processing result of the representative value. And correction processing means for correcting the original image data subjected to the first image processing.
According to the present invention, a plurality of image processing is performed by calculating a variation amount of a pixel value from an original image and an image after a plurality of image processing, and performing gradation conversion processing based on the variation amount. Even in such a case, an output image having an optimum density or luminance can be obtained.
The best mode for carrying out the invention will be described below in detail with reference to the drawings.

The
In the
First, when a shooting instruction is input from the user via the
In X-ray imaging, first, the
In the first embodiment, the

In the
Next, detailed processing of the
FIG. 2 is a flowchart showing a processing procedure of the
First, in step S201, the original image data is analyzed to extract an irradiation field region. Note that any method may be used as a method for extracting the irradiation field region. For example, a method described in Japanese Patent Registration 03631095 that has already been proposed by the patent applicant may be used. In this method, the irradiation field edge likelihood is scored according to the pixel value pattern of the target pixel and its surrounding pixels, and the irradiation field region is extracted.
Next, in step S202, the representative value x of the region of interest is acquired from the irradiation field region. Note that any method may be used as the representative value calculation method. For example, a known technique such as a method of calculating a representative value from an image histogram or a method of extracting a region of interest from a two-dimensional structure of an image and acquiring the statistical value as a representative value may be used.
In addition, since the region of interest differs for each imaging region, the region of interest may be calculated by a different method based on the imaging region set from the
When the region of interest is specified and the representative value is calculated as described above, the
In step S203, the first
Next, in steps S <b> 204 to S <b> 206, the fluctuation
When the region of interest is unknown (for example, when a representative value is calculated from an image histogram or the like), an area having the same pixel value as the representative value is extracted from the irradiation field area of the original image data as the target area. It ’s fine. In this case, the extraction range may have a certain width. For example, an area having a pixel value of representative value ± 10 may be extracted as the target area.
In step S205, the image data output from the first
Next, in step S206, a representative variation amount x of the target region is calculated. As a representative variation, the center of gravity (that is, the average value) of the histogram may be calculated. It should be noted that the typical fluctuation amount is not limited to this, and other statistical values may be calculated. For example, a median value robust to a specifically large value or a mode value of a histogram may be calculated as a representative variation amount.
In step S207, the second
In the first embodiment, the amount of change in the pixel value of the region of interest is calculated, and the tone conversion is performed in consideration of the amount of change, so that a plurality of image processes are performed simultaneously before the tone conversion processing is performed. However, the concentration of the region of interest can be stabilized to a desired concentration.
[Second Embodiment]
Next, a second embodiment according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Note that the configuration of the radiation imaging apparatus in the second embodiment is the same as the configuration shown in FIG. 1 described in the first embodiment, and a description thereof will be omitted.
Next, detailed processing of the
FIG. 3 is a flowchart illustrating a processing procedure of the
In step S301 shown in FIG. 3, the
As described above, the maximum value and the minimum value may be calculated by excluding the
Next, in step S203, the first
Next, in step S302, the fluctuation amount of the maximum value and the minimum value, which are representative values, is calculated. As the fluctuation amount, for example, the maximum value is calculated as Δx max from the histogram of the difference data corresponding to the maximum value. Further, the minimum value may be calculated as Δx min from the histogram of the difference data corresponding to the initial value.
Note that the fluctuation amount is not limited to this, and other statistical values may be calculated. For example, in order to exclude a specifically large value, the 90% quantile of the difference data histogram corresponding to the maximum value is Δx max, and the 10% quantile of the difference data histogram corresponding to the minimum value is Δx May be min . Further, the amount of variation may be determined based on the standard deviation or variance of the histogram.
In step S303, the second
According to the second embodiment, even if a plurality of image processes are performed simultaneously before the gradation conversion process, the subject area is kept within the output density range without causing overexposure or underexposure. Can do.
[Third Embodiment]
Next, a second embodiment according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. Note that the configuration of the radiation imaging apparatus in the third embodiment is the same as the configuration shown in FIG. 1 described in the first embodiment, and a description thereof will be omitted.

According to the third embodiment, the density of the region of interest can be stabilized to a desired density, and the subject area can be kept within the output density range without causing overexposure or blackout. In the third embodiment, three representative values used in the gradation conversion processing are used. Needless to say, a configuration using more representative values is also possible.
[Fourth Embodiment]
Next, a second embodiment according to the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In the fourth embodiment, a plurality of levels are obtained for the density as a processing result obtained by performing gradation conversion processing (one-point method) on representative pixel values (representative values) among pixel values in the region of interest. A variation amount of density caused by image processing other than the tone conversion processing is calculated. Then, correction processing is performed based on the variation amount. Note that “density” in the fourth embodiment refers to a pixel value that is a processing result after the pixel value of the original image data is subjected to gradation conversion processing.

Next, in step S602, a representative density fluctuation amount ΔD of the target region is calculated. Note that a typical method for calculating the amount of variation may be the same method as in the first embodiment.
In step S603, the
According to the fourth embodiment, even if a plurality of image processes are simultaneously performed after the gradation conversion process, the density fluctuation amount of the density value of the region of interest is calculated, and the correction process is performed according to the density fluctuation amount. By doing so, the density of the region of interest can be stabilized at a desired density.

According to the fifth embodiment, even if a plurality of image processes are performed after the gradation conversion process, the density fluctuation amount of the subject region is calculated, and the correction process is performed according to the density fluctuation amount.
