Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to correction of defects in a color filter, and in particular, correction of defects in a color filter using an IR spot heater as a heat source does not cause uneven baking or insufficient baking, and only the correction portion is good. The present invention relates to a method for correcting a color filter that is fired and cured.
In a liquid crystal display device or a plasma display panel, it is a useful means to use a color filter for purposes such as color display, reflectance reduction, contrast improvement, and spectral characteristic control. In many cases, the color filter used in this display device is formed and used as a pixel.
FIG. 3 is a plan view schematically showing an example of a color filter used in the liquid crystal display device. 4 is a cross-sectional view of the color filter shown in FIG. 3 taken along line XX ′.
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the color filter used in the liquid crystal display device has a black matrix (51) and colored pixels (52) sequentially formed on a glass substrate (50).
3 and 4 schematically show a color filter, and 12 colored pixels (52) are shown. In an actual color filter, for example, several hundreds of pixels are displayed on a 17-inch diagonal screen. A large number of colored pixels of about μm are arranged.
The black matrix (51) is a matrix having light shielding properties, and the colored pixels (52) have, for example, red, green, and blue filter functions.
The black matrix determines the position of the colored pixels of the color filter, makes the size uniform, and shields unwanted light when used in a display device, making the image of the display device uniform and uniform. In addition, it has a function of making an image with improved contrast.
This black matrix (51) is an example in which a resin is used as a black matrix material on a glass substrate (50).
The black matrix (51) is formed on the glass substrate (50) by, for example, a photolithography method using a black photoresist for forming a black matrix.
The colored pixel (52) is a photolithography method using a negative colored photoresist in which a pigment such as a pigment is dispersed on the glass substrate (50) on which the resin black matrix (51) is formed. That is, it is formed as a colored pixel by exposure through a photomask to a coating film of a colored photoresist, and development processing. Red, green, and blue colored pixels are sequentially formed.
In such a color filter manufacturing process, when a defect such as a pinhole or a foreign substance occurs in a colored pixel, the defect is corrected. The size of a general colored pixel is (60 to 120 μm) × (100 to 300 μm) □, and the size of a defect to be corrected is about 10 μmφ or more.
For a defect in which a part of a colored pixel is missing such as a pinhole, a correction liquid is attached to the tip of a needle whose tip has been processed, and the correction liquid is pressed against the pinhole to correct it, a dispenser A method of dropping a required amount of correction liquid by a method, a method of discharging correction liquid by inkjet, a method of transferring a film to a defective portion, and the like have been proposed.
When foreign matter is attached or embedded, correction is performed by a method such as the above-described needle, dispenser, inkjet, film transfer, etc. after scraping with a needle or irradiating a laser beam to remove the foreign matter.
At this time, UV curing or heat curing is used for curing the correction liquid. As thermal curing, various thermal curing methods such as an IR (infrared) spot heater, a CO 2 laser, a semiconductor laser, a hot air heater, a hot plate, and an oven have been implemented so far.
The above-mentioned thermosetting methods are as follows: 1) Heating the entire color filter to bake and cure the correction liquid, and IR (infrared) spot heater, etc. The method is classified into a method of baking and curing the correction liquid by heating.
1) The method of baking and curing the correction liquid by heating the entire color filter requires a long time for the baking. Therefore, a large number of color filters are baked in a batch using a multi-stage oven. Is maintained.
However, the method using a multistage oven has a problem that a large installation space is required. In the method using a multi-stage oven, foreign matters may adhere during the correction work, and firing may be performed while the foreign matters are attached, which may cause new foreign matter defects. In order to prevent the occurrence of such defects, there is a problem that the color filter is washed again after the correction work.
On the other hand, 2) the method of locally heating and baking and curing the correction liquid is a method that does not have problems such as the installation space and the cleaning operation.
However, temperature control limited to the correction portion is difficult, and there is a problem that uneven firing due to excessive temperature tends to occur within a local area corresponding to the irradiation spot diameter.
For example, when using an IR spot heater as a heat source, the intensity of the IR spot heater is set in advance. The intensity is set by adjusting the voltage, but when the IR spot is irradiated to the correction section, the IR spot heater is set so that the correction liquid applied to the correction section is at a temperature at which the correction liquid is well baked and cured. Is set in advance.
The correction unit is irradiated with the set intensity constant, that is, at a constant voltage. Therefore, in actual work, when irradiation with a constant intensity is performed, the irradiated surface is not held at the same temperature for a long time.
That is, from the relationship between the amount of heat applied and the amount of heat consumed, the actual temperature fluctuates or deviates over time with respect to the set temperature suitable for baking and curing the correction liquid.
Therefore, in the actual operation, if the above-described constant strength is increased so that the correction liquid is sufficiently baked and cured, the temperature of the irradiated surface is increased and baking unevenness is likely to occur.
On the other hand, if the above-mentioned constant strength is weakened so that it is sufficiently safe against firing unevenness, that is, it is difficult for firing unevenness to occur, the temperature of the irradiated surface becomes low, and insufficient firing tends to occur. This lack of firing is not preferable because it induces problems in the subsequent process.
FIG. 1 is a plan view for explaining uneven firing that occurs in a color filter. FIG. 1 shows an example in which a black matrix (51) having a width (W) of about 20 μm and a colored pixel (52) having a width (a) of about 100 μm are formed on a glass substrate (50). The correction liquid (54) is applied to a pinhole having a diameter of about 10 μmφ generated in the vicinity of one corner of the colored pixel (52), and the IR spot (S) having a constant diameter of about 50 μmφ is irradiated. Is.
If the correction liquid (54) reaches the set temperature by irradiation with an IR spot having a constant intensity, the correction liquid (54) applied to the correction portion is well baked and cured. Further, the black matrix (51) and the colored pixels (52) in the IR spot (S) are not adversely affected.
However, when irradiating IR spot with a constant intensity, when the temperature of the irradiated surface increases with time, or as described above, the constant intensity is increased so that the correction liquid is sufficiently baked and cured. In this case, the double hatched portion in the black matrix (51) indicated by reference numeral (53) in FIG.
This is presumed to be due to the fact that the black matrix (51) is black and therefore absorbs heat better than the correction liquid (54) and the colored pixels (52) and the temperature rises rapidly.
In actual work, when using an IR spot heater as a heat source, a set temperature is previously obtained for each item having different color filter specifications so that the correction liquid is baked and cured satisfactorily. There is an annoyance of resetting the intensity of the IR spot heater. This is because the amount of heat absorption varies depending on the specifications of the color filter, that is, the types of the black and colored photoresists used, the film thickness of the coating film, the size of the colored pixels, and the like. Therefore, in order to fire and harden the correction liquid satisfactorily, it is necessary to reset the intensity of the IR spot heater to an optimum value for each color filter specification, which is accompanied by corresponding troublesomeness.
Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2003-43236 discloses a color filter defect correction method.
This technique includes (a) a removal step of removing a colored layer in a range including a foreign substance and / or a defective part as necessary from laser irradiation or the like;
(B) The tip of the needle-like application portion in the area where the colored layer should be originally removed, where the defective portion or the colored layer in the range including the defective portion and the defective portion region has been removed by the above-described removal process. The colored ink adhered to the substrate is applied in contact with the coating, the applied colored ink is cured, and a correcting colored layer forming step of newly forming a correcting colored layer is performed.
The present invention has been made in view of the above-described problems. By correcting defects in a color filter using an IR spot heater as a heat source, the temperature of the irradiated surface is little changed even when operated for a long time. It does not cause uneven firing of the matrix or insufficient baking of the correction liquid, and only the correction liquid in the correction portion is well baked and cured, and the intensity of the IR spot heater is reset for each item with different specifications. It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for correcting a color filter without any problem.

The IR (infrared) spot heater (10) is provided with a light emitting part (12) and a condensing reflecting mirror (13) in a housing (11), and infrared rays are sent through a diaphragm (14) attached to the emitting part. After that, it is injected outside. The IR (infrared) spot heater (10) controls the amount of heat (intensity) of infrared rays by adjusting the voltage applied to the light emitting section (12), and sets the intensity.
The diaphragm (14) is, for example, a light shielding plate provided with an opening through which infrared rays pass, and a plurality of light shielding plates are prepared so that the IR (infrared) spot diameter (φ1) to be irradiated can be adjusted. . The IR (infrared) spot diameter (φ1) can be adjusted by exchanging a light shielding plate having an opening having an arbitrary size in the range of 5 μmφ to 50 μmφ.
The IR (infrared) spot heater (10) compares the actual temperature with the set temperature by feedback of the actual temperature of the irradiation unit from the IR (infrared) radiation thermometer (20), and sets the temperature of the irradiation unit. It is possible to control the heat generation amount (intensity) of infrared rays so as to maintain the set temperature.
The IR (infrared) radiation thermometer (20) measures the actual temperature of the surface of the irradiated part in a non-contact manner, and feeds back the measured actual temperature to the IR (infrared) spot heater (10). It has become. Infrared rays emitted from the irradiating unit are collected by a lens and focused on a detection element having a structure in which a large number of thermocouples are connected in series to generate a voltage to obtain the temperature of the irradiating unit.
The measurement spot diameter (φ2) of the IR (infrared) radiation thermometer (20) can be adjusted in the range of 1.5 μmφ to 11.0 μmφ. Examples of the IR (infrared) radiation thermometer (20) include an infrared radiation thermometer manufactured by Keyence Corporation.
FIG. 5 is an explanatory diagram showing an example of temperature control in the heating device. Fig.5 (a) is explanatory drawing which showed the behavior of the actual temperature of the irradiation part measured by IR (infrared) radiation thermometer (20). FIG. 5B is an explanatory diagram showing voltage adjustment in the IR (infrared) spot heater (10). In this example, the set temperature is 190 ° C. to 200 ° C., and the heat generation amount (intensity) of infrared rays is controlled by the voltage level.
When the actual temperature rises from room temperature and exceeds 190 ° C. by feedback of the actual temperature from the IR (infrared) radiation thermometer (20), the IR (infrared) spot heater (10) becomes the light emitting section (12). The voltage to be applied to is changed from V 1 to V 3 to suppress the heat generation amount (intensity). When the actual temperature drops and approaches 190 ° C. by feedback of the actual temperature from the IR (infrared) thermometer (20), the IR (infrared) spot heater (10) Is changed from V 3 to V 2 to increase the calorific value (intensity). In other words, the IR (infrared) spot heater (10) controls the heat generation amount (intensity) of infrared rays by changing the voltage applied to the light emitting unit (12) so that the actual temperature of the irradiation unit is maintained at the set temperature. Yes.
In the color filter correction method according to the present invention, first, a thermosetting correction liquid is applied to a pinhole (correction part) generated in a colored pixel or a colored pixel missing part (correction part) after removing foreign matter. Next, using the heating device, an IR (infrared) spot is irradiated onto the correction liquid (correction part), and the correction liquid (correction part) is baked and cured.
The IR (infrared) spot diameter (φ1) is adjusted to the size of the missing portion of the colored pixel after removal of the pinhole or foreign matter, but positioning slightly larger than this size is easy to align. Even if the size is slightly larger, it does not adversely affect the colored pixels.
The IR (infrared) radiation thermometer (20) measures the actual temperature of the correction liquid (correction part) during irradiation and constantly feeds back to the IR (infrared) spot heater (10). The infrared spot heater (10) controls the amount of heat (intensity) of infrared rays by constantly changing the voltage applied to the light emitting section (12) by feedback of the actual temperature.
Therefore, the temperature of the correction liquid (correction part) is always kept at the set temperature, and the correction liquid is baked and cured by heating at the set temperature.
The firing and curing treatment time is about 30 to 120 seconds.
As described above, the color filter correction method according to the present invention can adjust the IR (infrared) spot diameter to be irradiated as a heat source by a diaphragm, and the temperature of the irradiation unit can be adjusted by feedback of the actual temperature of the irradiation unit. An IR (infrared) spot heater that can control the intensity of the IR (infrared) spot heater so as to maintain the temperature at an arbitrary set temperature is used, and the measurement is performed as a means for measuring the actual temperature of the irradiated part. The spot diameter can be adjusted by a diaphragm, and an IR (infrared) radiation thermometer that can measure the actual temperature of the irradiated part during IR (infrared) spot irradiation is used. No baking unevenness or insufficient baking of the correction liquid occurs, and only the correction liquid in the correction portion is fired and cured satisfactorily.
In addition, since the color filter correction method according to the present invention controls the heat generation amount (intensity) of infrared rays according to the actual temperature of the irradiation unit, the intensity of the IR spot heater is reset for each item having different color filter specifications. That is unnecessary.
In addition, since the color filter correction method according to the present invention controls the heat generation amount (intensity) of infrared rays so as to maintain the set temperature, the startup time of the apparatus until reaching the temperature at which the heating operation can be started is conventionally The start-up time is shorter than the corresponding time (sign (T 0 ) shown in FIG. 5).
