Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a process cartridge, a charging roll, an electrophotographic photosensitive member, and an image forming apparatus.
In an image forming apparatus using an electrophotographic system, first, a uniform charge is formed on a surface of an electrophotographic photosensitive member (hereinafter sometimes simply referred to as “photosensitive member”), which is an image carrier, using a charging member. After forming an electrostatic latent image with a laser beam or the like that modulates an image signal, the electrostatic latent image is developed with a charged toner, and a visualized toner image is formed. Then, the toner image is electrostatically transferred to a transfer material such as a recording sheet via an intermediate transfer member or directly, and a desired image is obtained by fixing the toner image on the transfer material.
In recent years, in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, a charging roll is frequently used as a charging member for uniformly charging the surface of a photoreceptor as a charged body. The charging roll contacts the surface of the photoconductor in a state where a voltage is applied, and discharges in a minute gap between the charging roller and charges the surface of the photoconductor.
When a charging roll that contacts the photosensitive member is used in this way, streaks that are parallel to the axial direction of the photosensitive member may occur on the image during the period of the photosensitive member. This streak is generated at a position corresponding to the contact position with the charging roll on the photosensitive member in the photosensitive member cycle. This is because the charging roll and the photosensitive member are in contact with each other, and the photosensitive member and the charging roll which are in contact with each other due to vibration during transportation of the process cartridge or the image forming apparatus are slightly rotated and are generated at the time of rotation. It is considered that this occurs because charges are accumulated on the surface of the photoreceptor due to the peeling discharge.
In order to solve such a problem, a method for preventing the photosensitive member and the charging roll from contacting each other during transportation or the like can be considered. As such a method, for example, in the image forming apparatus described in
In
In Patent Document 4, a photoconductor, a charging roller, and a brush cleaner for cleaning the charging roller are provided. When the photoconductor is rotating forward, the charging roller is rotated around the photoconductor, and further, the brush cleaner is rotated around the charging roller. In an image forming apparatus having a configuration in which the photosensitive member is reversed when the photosensitive member is stopped, an image forming device has been proposed in which the charging roller is rotated around the photosensitive member and the brush cleaner is not rotated when the photosensitive member is reversed.
Process cartridges, charging rolls, electrophotographic photoreceptors, and images that can suppress the occurrence of streak-like image stains due to vibration during transportation, etc. without burdening the user or requiring a complicated mechanism There is a need for a forming apparatus.

According to
Embodiments of the present invention will be described below.
As a result of intensive studies by the present inventors, a method for suppressing streaky image contamination due to vibration or the like has been found. This streak-like image smear due to vibration or the like is presumed to be caused by the accumulation of electric charges on the surface of the photoconductor due to static electricity generated by contact and peeling between the photoconductor and the charging roll as described above. For this reason, if the contact position between the photosensitive member and the charging roll is hardly changed by vibration and can be maintained at substantially the same position, it is possible to suppress the occurrence of streaks due to such vibration.
<Process cartridge>
In this embodiment, the process cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive member, a charging roll that contacts and charges the surface of the electrophotographic photosensitive member, a cleaning unit that contacts and cleans the surface of the electrophotographic photosensitive member, and an electrophotographic photosensitive member. If the cartridge is provided with a reverse rotation preventing means (reverse rotation preventing mechanism) for preventing at least one of the body and the charging roll from rotating in the direction opposite to the direction rotating during image formation, the cartridge is particularly limited. is not.
An example of a process cartridge according to an embodiment of the present invention is schematically shown in FIG. The
The operation of the
First, the surface of the electrophotographic
In this embodiment, when the
The reverse rotation prevention means is not particularly limited as long as it prevents rotation of the
Further, in the process cartridge according to the present embodiment, the
That is, since the
An outline of another example of the process cartridge according to the embodiment of the present invention is shown in FIG. 1 is different from the
In this embodiment, the electrophotographic
The method of attaching the one-way clutch 40 to the electrophotographic
Further, for example, as shown in FIG. 8, the one-way clutch 40 is fixed to the
For example, as shown in FIG. 9, the one-way clutch 40 is fixed to the
Although any of the methods shown in FIGS. 7 to 9 may be used, the method shown in FIGS. 7 and 9 is preferable and the method shown in FIG. 7 is more preferable in terms of ease of processing.
Also in the process cartridge according to the present embodiment, the
The reverse rotation preventing means may be provided in either the
In the present embodiment, the reverse rotation preventing means can prevent the electrophotographic
The cleaning means is a blade cleaning method as long as it removes residual toner on the surface of the electrophotographic

The process cartridge produced in Example 1 is packed in a container (cuboid) using a vibration tester (G-9223LS, manufactured by Shinken Co., Ltd.) to simulate vibration during transportation, and the packing containers are adjacent to each other. A vibration test was performed under conditions of 25 Hz for 15 minutes in each direction perpendicular to the three surfaces. After that, using DocuCenterColor a450 made by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., the image quality output of A3 paper (F paper made by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., P paper) half-tone image quality pattern (30% density black image) is 20 ° C, 50% RH. In this environment, the presence or absence of occurrence of streak stains in the photosensitive member cycle was confirmed from the image quality of the first sheet. The results are shown in Table 1.

<Example 6>
A cartridge for the DocuCenterColor a450 manufactured by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd. was modified to produce a process cartridge having a reverse rotation preventing means shown in FIG. A plastic saw-shaped part and a leaf spring having a saw-shaped side surface were attached so as not to rotate in the reverse direction with respect to the image forming direction. The used charging roll and the electrophotographic photosensitive member were assembled in a cartridge without any deposits such as toner, and the test was conducted in the same manner as in Example 1. The results are shown in Table 1.
(Comparative Example 1)
A cartridge for DocuCentreColor a450 manufactured by Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd., which is not equipped with a means for preventing reverse rotation, was used. The test was performed in the same manner as in Example 1 in the state where the charging roll and the electrophotographic photosensitive member used were free of deposits such as toner. The results are shown in Table 1.
As a result, streak stains occurred in the cartridge of Comparative Example 1 that did not include the reverse rotation prevention means, whereas Examples 1 and 2 using the cartridge including the reverse rotation prevention means in the charging roll and the electrophotography. In Examples 3 to 6 using the cartridge provided with the reverse rotation preventing means on the photoconductor, no streak was generated.
This result shows that by preventing reverse rotation of the charging roll and the electrophotographic photosensitive member, the charging roll hardly peels off from the photosensitive member due to vibration, and the discharge phenomenon that affects the image hardly occurs. ing. That is, the charging roll is not substantially rotated by vibration in both the forward direction (image forming direction) and the reverse direction. Regarding the rotation in the forward direction, the cleaning blade in contact with the photoconductor prevents the photoconductor from rotating, and the charging roll in contact with the photoconductor hardly rotates. On the other hand, with respect to the rotation in the reverse direction, by preventing the rotation of the charging roll or the photoconductor, the photoconductor or the charging roll in contact with the charging roll or the photoconductor does not rotate, so that almost no peeling discharge occurs, There is no streaking of the photoreceptor period.
