Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a sheet feeding device, an image forming apparatus such as a facsimile, a copier, a printer, and a multifunction machine using these, and more particularly to a sheet feeding device that feeds a recording material to a transport unit. More particularly, the present invention relates to a sheet feeding device including an adjustment mechanism that adjusts a sheet feeding pressure with respect to a sheet feeding roller according to a sheet size or type, and an image forming apparatus using the sheet feeding device.

In an image forming apparatus such as a copying machine, a printer, a facsimile machine, or a printing machine, a visible image such as a toner image carried on a latent image carrier is recorded on a recording medium such as a recording paper (hereinafter referred to as a recording paper for convenience). The image output can be obtained by transferring the image.

It is well known that the recording paper is fed from a paper feed cassette or the like equipped in the image forming apparatus. As a configuration of the paper feed cassette, a bottom plate or a placement plate on which recording paper can be stacked is provided inside the cassette, and this member is pulled up from above so that it can be fed out while the recording paper is in contact with the feeding roller. (See, for example, Patent Document 1).

A retractable spring is used for the push-up mechanism of the bottom plate or the mounting plate. By using the spring, it is possible to obtain a push-up action using the shape restoring force from the contraction deformation position of the spring according to the loading amount of the recording paper to be loaded.

On the other hand, the spring that urges the bottom plate or the mounting plate upward is a member from which the difference between the initially set elastic force and the load weight against this is obtained as the magnitude of the shape restoring force. However, if you try to prevent the occurrence of problems such as prevention of double feeding and non-feeding by keeping the pressure that feeds the recording paper and contacts the roller regardless of the difference in the loading weight of the recording paper, the change in the loading weight Is generated not only by the loading amount but also by the size and type of the recording paper to be loaded, it is difficult to set the elastic force corresponding to all of these.

Therefore, as one of the configurations for changing the elastic force according to the recording paper size, the position change of the side fence used to prevent the skew feeding by specifying the position of the side edge in the width direction perpendicular to the conveyance direction of the recording paper There is a configuration in which the spring is covered with a member that controls the amount of expansion and contraction of the spring (see, for example, Patent Document 2).

特許第3609848号公報Japanese Patent No. 3609848 特開2004−331345号公報JP 2004-331345 A 特開2005−162333号公報JP 2005-162333 A

Therefore, in the present invention, it is possible to make the contact relationship between the recording paper and the feeding means constant regardless of the change in weight due to the size and type as well as the loading amount of the recording paper, and the shape of the support member An object of the present invention is to provide a paper feeding device that can be manufactured at low cost because of only changes, and an image forming apparatus using the paper feeding device.

A sheet feeding device according to a first aspect of the present invention has a bottom plate on which recording paper can be mounted, and moves the bottom plate toward the feeding means facing the bottom plate on the front side in the feeding direction of the recording paper. And a support member that is disposed in front of the sheet feeding cassette in the sheet feeding direction and is rotatable in the vertical direction. And an elastic member that is provided between the rotation end of the support member and the front portion of the bottom plate facing the rotation end in the recording paper feeding direction, and interlocks the support member with the bottom plate, A guide member for determining a rotation position of the support member is provided so as to abut against the support member so as to be able to change a shape of a contact portion of the support member with the guide member. To do.

According to the second aspect of the present invention, in the paper feeding device according to the first aspect, the one in which the shape of the contact portion of the support member with the guide portion is changed is replaceable.

According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the paper feeding device according to the first or second aspect, a separate position adjusting member is provided at a contact portion of the support member with the guide member, and the shape of the contact portion It is characterized in that can be changed.

According to a fourth aspect of the present invention, in the paper feeding device according to the third aspect, the contact portion of the support member with the guide member and the position adjusting member can be assembled at a plurality of positions, and the contact position. Can be changed in multiple stages.

An image forming apparatus according to claim 5 uses the sheet feeding device according to any one of claims 1 to 4.

The present invention provides: In the sheet feeding device according to the first aspect, the bottom plate of the sheet feeding cassette is lifted by an elastic member from above, and the sheet feeding pressure can be adjusted by changing the shape of the support member. It is possible to suppress problems such as double feeding and non-feeding with a low-cost configuration while maintaining low.

The best mode for carrying out the present invention will be described below with reference to the embodiments shown in the drawings.

A basic configuration of the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 1 shows a cross-sectional view of the paper feeder. A bottom plate 3 is installed at the bottom of the paper feed cassette case 1 and is pivotally supported by the paper feed cassette case 1 at a portion indicated by reference numeral 3a in the drawing. A pair of support members, an arm 4, is rotatably installed on the sheet cassette case 1 by an arm shaft support 4 a, and an end of the bottom plate 3 and an end of the arm 4 are elastic members (preferably springs). As the spring, a leaf spring and a helical spring can be mentioned, in particular, the helical spring is preferable because it can save space and set the load in a wide range, but other elastic members may of course be used). When connected and the paper feed cassette is not attached to the apparatus main body, the bottom plate 3 descends to the bottom due to the weight of the bottom plate 3 and is stationary at the bottom. In this state, since the bottom plate 3 is lowered, the paper 2 as a recording material is easily set so as not to be inclined with respect to the paper feed cassette and the side edges of the paper 2 do not vary. Can do.

As shown in FIG. 2, when the paper feed cassette case 1 is mounted on the image forming apparatus main body 10, the end of the arm 4 opposite to the end where the bottom plate raising spring 5 is attached is the feed of the printer main body. It abuts on the guide member 9 installed in the paper cassette mounting portion and rotates clockwise. When the arm 4 rotates clockwise, the bottom plate raising spring 5 is pulled up, and the free end side of the bottom plate 3 is raised. When the bottom plate 3 is raised, the uppermost surface of the stacked sheets 2 is brought into pressure contact with the sheet feeding roller 8 installed at the opposite position to obtain sheet feeding pressure. When the paper feed roller is rotated counterclockwise, several stacked sheets are fed into the separation pad 16. When a plurality of sheets are sent to the separation pad 16, the uppermost sheet separated by the separation pad is sent to a sheet transport unit (not shown).

As shown in FIG. 3A, when the size of the paper 2 is large, or when the paper density is high and the paper is heavy, a protrusion 4c is provided on the portion of the arm 4 that contacts the guide member 9 so that the arm 4 rotates clockwise. The amount of rotation is increased to obtain a large sheet feeding pressure. On the contrary, as shown in FIG. 3B, when the size of the paper 2 is small or the paper is low in density and light, the arm 4 is rotated in the clockwise direction without providing a protrusion, and the paper feeding pressure is reduced. Lower. As described above, since an appropriate sheet feeding pressure varies depending on the size and type of the sheet, the sheet can be fed without causing double feeding or non-feeding by appropriately adjusting the rotation amount.

4A and 4B show the front end side of the sheet feeding cassette. A pair of arm shaft support portions 4a provided on the arm 4 enter the pair of U-shaped grooves 1b, and the arm shaft 4b is pressed by the pressing portion 1a and assembled. Since the pressing portion 1a has elasticity and the arm 4 can be easily removed, the pressing portion 1a can be replaced at the user level. In this way, the paper feeding pressure can be easily adjusted by selectively changing the shape of the arm 4 with or without the protrusion 4c according to the size and type of the paper. be able to. In addition, since it is sufficient to prepare a modified arm 4 only, the cost can be reduced.

FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of the paper feeding device according to the second embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 5, the cap-shaped adjusting member 12 is attached to or detached from the arm 4 so that the sheet feeding pressure can be adjusted more easily at the user level, thereby further reducing the cost. You can also.

For example, the cap-shaped adjusting member 12 shown in FIG. 6 can be used. That is, as shown in FIG. 6A, a plurality of holes 4d are provided in the contact portion of the arm 4 with the guide member 9, and the adjustment member 12 is fitted from the tip as shown in FIG. 6B. When the adjustment member protrusion 12a is inserted into an arbitrary hole 4d and positioned when the adjustment is performed, the amount of protrusion of the adjustment member 12 toward the guide member 9 is adjusted to adjust the amount of rotation of the arm 4. As shown in FIG. 6C, it is possible to easily adjust the sheet feeding pressure corresponding to many types of paper sizes or types at the user level so that the sheet feeding pressure becomes the lowest at the position where the adjustment member 12 does not protrude most. If set, there is no need to remove the adjustment member 12, and there is no risk of loss.

FIG. 7 is a cross-sectional view showing a basic configuration of an image forming apparatus using one of the examples shown in the first embodiment. As shown in FIG. 7, the sheets fed one by one by the sheet feeding device pass through a conveyance path composed of a conveyance guide 21, a conveyance roller A <b> 22 and a conveyance roller B <b> 23 installed upstream, and the first conveyance roller 24. And the first pressure roller 25. An image forming apparatus 30, here an ink jet type image forming apparatus, disposed on a sheet 2 conveyed to a downstream platen 26 by a first conveying roller 24 and a first pressure roller 25, facing the platen 26. The guide rod 29 and the guide rail 31 installed in a direction perpendicular to the sheet conveying direction are slidably held to form an image on the conveyed sheet. Of course, an electrophotographic image forming apparatus or a thermal transfer image forming apparatus may be used. The sheet on which the image is formed passes through the second conveyance roller 27 and the spur roller 28 and is discharged to the discharge tray 32. As described above, by installing the sheet feeding device according to claims 1 to 4 in the image forming apparatus, it is possible to provide an image forming apparatus capable of stable output with the main body height kept low.

In other words, in a paper feeding device that lifts the bottom plate with a support member via an elastic member, the support member can be supported by adjusting the rotation position of the support member by changing the shape of the support member so as to vary the contact pressure. Since the rotation position of the member can be changed according to the size and type of the recording paper and the elastic force of the elastic member can be changed, not only the recording paper load but also the weight change due to the difference in size and type, the recording paper It is possible to make the contact relationship between the first and second feeding means constant. Furthermore, since only the shape of the support member is changed, it can be manufactured at low cost. Further, since the member for setting the bottom plate push-up state according to the weight change, that is, the member for pushing the bottom plate is not provided below the bottom plate, the paper feed cassette can be prevented from being enlarged.

In addition, since the support member can be easily replaced, the contact pressure can be adjusted by arbitrarily replacing the support member having a different shape. Therefore, the contact pressure can be easily adjusted, and only the support member can be replaced. Therefore, it can be manufactured at low cost.

Then, by making it possible to easily attach or remove a separate adjustment member for adjusting the rotation amount of the support member, the contact pressure can be adjusted at the user level, and it can be manufactured at a lower cost. The feed pressure can be adjusted at the user level at a lower cost.

In addition, the support member and the adjustment member can be assembled at multiple positions, so there is no possibility of the adjustment member being lost, and the contact pressure can be adjusted to accommodate more types of paper sizes and types. By doing so, it is not necessary to remove the adjustment member, so that the loss of the adjustment member can be prevented.

By using the paper feeding device of the present invention in an image forming apparatus such as an ink jet printer, an electrophotographic printer, a facsimile, etc., there are no problems such as double feeding or non-feeding even when recording materials of various sizes are used. Can be used.
