Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a fixing device and an image forming apparatus.
In an image forming apparatus such as a printer, a copying machine, or a facsimile that employs an electrophotographic system, a recording medium such as paper that carries a toner image formed with toner in an unfixed state is heated and pressurized to thereby form the toner image. Is fixed to the recording medium (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
As such a fixing device, as disclosed in Patent Document 1, a rotatable fixing roller, a heating means for heating the fixing roller, a rotatable pressure roller pressed against the fixing roller, and a pressure roller An endless belt member that is wound around the outer periphery of the belt and is nipped and conveyed by a fixing roller and a pressure roller, and a tension member that stretches the belt member in cooperation with the pressure roller inside the belt member. It is known that an unfixed image is fixed on a recording medium by passing a recording medium carrying an unfixed image through a nip formed by pressure contact between a fixing roller and a belt member.
In the fixing device according to Patent Literature 1, the nip portion is formed by the belt member being pressed against the fixing roller by the pressure roller being pressed against the fixing roller, and the pressure roller for the fixing roller. The second member is formed by the belt member being pressed against the fixing roller regardless of the pressure. Then, a recording medium is introduced into the nip portion from the second portion side, and a fixing process is performed.
Such a fixing device can increase the width of the nip portion and can exhibit excellent fixing properties.
However, in the fixing device according to Patent Document 1, since the nip pressure in the second portion is smaller than the nip pressure in the first portion and easily fluctuates, a recording medium such as glossy paper is used. If used, the recording medium may slip with respect to the fixing roller, which may cause a problem of disturbing an image on the recording medium.
In particular, in the fixing device according to Patent Document 1, since the area of the second portion is large and the space on the recording medium introduction side is narrower than the nip portion, an unfixed image on the recording medium is fixed before the nip portion is introduced. It is easy to come into contact with the roller, and the above-mentioned problem becomes remarkable.
An object of the present invention is to provide a fixing device and an image forming apparatus capable of obtaining excellent fixing properties regardless of the type of paper.
Such an object is achieved by the present invention described below.
The fixing device of the present invention includes a rotatable fixing roller,
Heating means for heating the fixing roller;
A rotatable pressure roller pressed against the fixing roller;
An endless belt member wound around an outer periphery of the pressure roller and sandwiched and conveyed between the fixing roller and the pressure roller;
A tension member that stretches the belt member in cooperation with the pressure roller inside the belt member;
A fixing device for fixing the unfixed image to the recording medium by heating and pressurizing a recording medium carrying an unfixed image through a nip portion formed by pressure contact between the fixing roller and the belt member. Because
In the state where the positional relationship between the fixing roller and the pressure roller is maintained, the nip portion is changed by changing the tension member relative to the fixing roller. Features.
As a result, the size of the region (the length in the circumferential direction of the fixing roller) of the portion formed by only the pressure contact between the fixing roller and the belt member in the nip portion regardless of the pressure roller pressing, It is possible to prevent the recording medium from slipping with respect to the fixing roller. Further, the size of the space on the recording medium introduction side with respect to the nip portion can be increased to prevent an unfixed image on the recording medium from contacting the fixing roller before the nip portion is introduced.
Therefore, excellent fixability can be obtained regardless of the paper type.
In the fixing device according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that the stretching member is disposed on the upstream side in the conveyance direction of the recording medium with respect to a pressing portion of the pressure roller with respect to the fixing roller.
Thereby, the introduction side portion of the recording medium in the nip portion can be brought into a light press state. Therefore, the recording medium can be stably introduced into the nip portion regardless of the shape of the leading end portion of the recording medium. The recording medium introduced into the nip portion is heated while being pressed with a relatively large pressure by the pressing roller at the discharge side portion of the recording medium in the nip portion. Therefore, excellent fixability can be exhibited.
In such a configuration, the size of the space on the recording medium introduction side with respect to the nip portion can be changed.
In the fixing device of the present invention, the changing means winds the belt member around the fixing roller with a first winding amount on the tension member side with respect to the pressing portion of the pressure roller with respect to the fixing roller. The belt member is wound around the fixing roller with a first state in which a nip portion is formed and a second winding amount smaller than the first winding amount on the tension member side with respect to the pressing portion. It is preferable to be able to switch to the second state in which the nip portion is formed.
As a result, in the first state, when a recording medium that does not easily slip with respect to the fixing roller is used, the size of the nip area (the length in the circumferential direction of the fixing roller) is increased, which is extremely excellent. Fixability can be exhibited. In the second state, even when a recording medium that easily slips against the fixing roller is used, the recording medium slips against the fixing roller, or an unfixed image on the recording medium is introduced into the nip portion. It is possible to prevent contact with the fixing roller before and to exhibit excellent fixing properties.
In the fixing device according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that the changing unit switches between the first state and the second state according to the type of the recording medium used for the fixing.
As a result, when a recording medium that does not easily slip with respect to the fixing roller is used, the first state is set. When a recording medium that easily slips with respect to the fixing roller is used, the second state is set. Regardless, excellent fixability can be exhibited.
In the fixing device of the present invention, the changing unit sets the first state when the surface roughness of the recording medium used for fixing is equal to or greater than a set value, and the surface of the recording medium used for fixing. When the roughness is less than the set value, the second state is preferable.
The surface roughness of the recording medium is one index indicating the slipperiness of the recording medium with respect to the fixing roller.
In the fixing device of the present invention, the changing unit displaces the stretching member in a state where the positions of the fixing roller and the pressure roller are fixed, so that the first state and the second state are changed. It is preferable to perform switching.
In general, the fixing roller or the pressure roller is driven to rotate (referred to as a driving roller), but the configuration of the apparatus can be made relatively simple by disposing only the stretching member.
In the fixing device of the present invention, the fixing device includes a guide member that guides the recording medium to the nip portion, and the changing unit moves the guide member in conjunction with switching between the first state and the second state. It is preferably configured to be displaced.
Accordingly, the recording medium can be stably introduced into the nip portion in both the first state and the second state.
In the fixing device of the present invention, it is preferable that the second winding amount is substantially zero.
As a result, even when a recording medium that tends to slip with respect to the fixing roller is used, the recording medium slips with respect to the fixing roller or an unfixed image on the recording medium comes into contact with the fixing roller before the introduction of the nip portion. Can be prevented more reliably.
In the fixing device of the present invention, it is preferable that the conveyance speed of the recording medium at the nip portion in the second state is lower than the conveyance speed of the recording medium at the nip portion in the first state.
Thereby, the fixability in the second state can be further improved.
In the fixing device of the present invention, the region of the nip portion is obtained by displacing the fixing roller relative to the pressure roller while maintaining the positional relationship between the pressure roller and the stretching member. A fixing-side changing means for changing the fixing-side changing means, wherein the fixing-side changing means does not press the pressure roller against the fixing roller via the belt member in the first state or the second state. In addition, it is preferable that the belt member can be switched to a third state in which a nip portion is formed by winding the belt member around the fixing roller.
Thereby, in the third state, excellent fixability can be exhibited even when a recording medium in which pressurization with high pressure is not preferable is used.
In the fixing device of the present invention, the fixing-side changing unit displaces the fixing roller in a state where the positions of the pressure roller and the stretching member are fixed, so that the first state or the second state is changed. It is preferable to switch between the state and the third state.
In general, the fixing device configured as in the present invention is configured such that the fixing roller is elastically deformed rather than the pressure roller to form a nip portion. By configuring the fixing roller to be displaced without displacing the roller, the apparatus configuration can be made relatively simple.
In the fixing device according to the aspect of the invention, it is preferable that the fixing-side changing unit switches between the first state and the third state in accordance with the type of the recording medium used for the fixing.
Accordingly, the third state can be obtained when a recording medium in which pressurization at a high pressure is not preferable is used.
In the fixing device of the present invention, the fixing-side changing unit sets the first state when the recording medium used for fixing forms a single sheet and records the recording medium used for fixing. When the medium is in a bag shape, the third state is preferable.
As a result, when a bag-like recording medium is used, it is possible to prevent the recording medium from wrinkling by performing a fixing process while letting air inside the recording medium escape to the outside.
In the fixing device of the present invention, it is preferable that the conveyance speed of the recording medium at the nip portion in the third state is lower than the conveyance speed of the recording medium at the nip portion in the first state.
Thereby, the fixability in the third state can be further improved.
The image forming apparatus of the present invention is an image forming apparatus that forms an image on a recording medium by a series of image forming processes including exposure, development, transfer, and fixing.
The fixing device according to the present invention is provided.
Thereby, an excellent image can be obtained regardless of the paper type.

The elastic layer 41B has a thickness of 2 mm or less, for example, and is made of an elastic body such as fluorine rubber or silicon rubber.

The
Such a
The changing means 49 is biased by a

The
Such a
The changing means 49 configured as described above displaces the
Accordingly, the size of the region of the nip portion N formed only by the pressure contact between the fixing
Therefore, the fixing
Here, since the stretching
Further, when the stretching
The changing means 49 will be described more specifically. As shown in FIGS. 4 (a) and 5 (a), the changing
Thus, in the first state, when the recording medium P that is less likely to slip with respect to the fixing
As shown in FIGS. 4 and 6, the width of the nip portion N2 in the second state is smaller than the width of the nip portion N1 in the first state.
In the present embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 6, in the first state, the nip portion N <b> 1 presses the
As described above, in the present embodiment, as shown in FIG. 4B, the second winding amount is almost zero, and therefore the recording medium P that easily slips on the fixing
The width of the nip portion N1 in the first state is not particularly limited, but is preferably about 10 mm.
The width of the nip portion N2 in the second state is not particularly limited, but is preferably about 4 mm.
In the present embodiment, in the first state shown in FIG. 4A, the
Further, in this embodiment, the winding angle of the
In general, the fixing
Further, as described above, the changing
The switching between the first state and the second state as described above is performed according to the type of the recording medium P used for fixing. As a result, when the recording medium P that does not easily slip with respect to the fixing
More specifically, the changing
As a method (detection method) for determining the surface roughness of the recording medium P, for example, a sensor (not shown) detects the paper type of the recording medium P fed from the
In addition, the conveyance speed of the recording medium P in the nip portion N in the second state is preferably smaller than the conveyance speed of the recording medium P in the nip portion N in the first state. That is, the rotation speed (circumferential speed) of the fixing
By using the conveyance speed of the recording medium P at such a nip portion N, the fixability in the second state can be further improved.
More specifically, the conveyance speed of the recording medium P at the nip portion N1 in the first state is not particularly limited, but is preferably about 175 to 210 mm / sec. Further, the conveyance speed of the recording medium P at the nip portion N2 in the second state is not particularly limited, but is preferably about 100 mm / sec.
In this embodiment, as described above, the fixing side changing means (not shown) having the same mechanism as the changing
More specifically, the fixing-side displacement means displaces the fixing
More specifically, such a fixing-side changing unit includes the first state as described above (see FIGS. 4A and 5A) and FIG. 5B. The
Thereby, in the third state, excellent fixability can be exhibited even when a recording medium in which pressurization with high pressure is not preferable is used.
As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the width of the nip portion N2 in the third state is smaller than the width of the nip portion N1 in the first state.
In this embodiment, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, in the third state, the
The width of the nip portion N3 in the third state is not particularly limited, but is preferably about 3.5 mm.
In general, a fixing device configured as the fixing
It is also possible to form a nip portion similar to the nip portion N3 in the third state described above by displacing the
Switching between the first state and the third state as described above is performed according to the type of the recording medium P to be used for fixing. Accordingly, the third state can be obtained when a recording medium in which pressurization at a high pressure is not preferable is used.
More specifically, the fixing-side changing means is in the first state when the recording medium P to be fixed is a single sheet (for example, plain paper), and is used for fixing. The third state is set when the recording medium P to be provided has a bag shape (for example, an envelope or the like).
Thus, when a bag-like recording medium is used, for example, when an envelope is used, the fixing process is performed while letting the air inside the envelope escape to the outside, thereby preventing generation of wrinkles on the envelope. .
In addition, the conveyance speed of the recording medium P in the nip portion N in the third state is preferably smaller than the conveyance speed of the recording medium in the nip portion N in the first state. Thereby, the fixability in the third state can be further improved.
The conveyance speed of the recording medium P at the nip portion N3 in the third state is not particularly limited, but is preferably about 45 mm / sec.
The
As mentioned above, although this invention was demonstrated based on suitable embodiment, this invention is not limited to this.
For example, each unit constituting the image forming apparatus of the present invention can be replaced with any one that exhibits the same function, or other configurations can be added.
In the above-described embodiment, the switching between the first state and the second state is performed by the displacement of the stretching
In the above-described embodiment, the
