Description
The present invention relates to correction of medical images, and more particularly to a technique for correcting a bias unique to an imaging apparatus such as MRI.
However, each image captured by the MRI apparatus has a bias peculiar to the apparatus. Therefore, when comparing image groups captured by different models, the bias affects the result of diagnostic processing using the image. There is a problem that will occur.
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a medical image correction apparatus capable of correcting a bias peculiar to the apparatus when comparing image groups captured by different models.

The scaling means 20 has a function of performing normalization based on the average value of the pixel values of the target image group. The alignment means 30 has a function of performing linear conversion in order to align with a reference position. The statistical processing means 40 has a function of performing statistical processing between the target image group and the two image groups of the reference image group and determining pixels to be corrected. The correction
The target image group and the reference image group are stored in advance in a storage device of a computer that realizes the medical image correction apparatus. The target image group is an image group captured by an MRI apparatus that is a correction parameter calculation target. The reference image group is an image group captured by an MRI apparatus defined as a standard.
Here, the state of each image is shown in FIG. 2A shows a reference image, and FIG. 2B shows a reference image before resolution conversion processing. Each image is a three-dimensional image having a value in a three-dimensional space. In FIG. 2, a cube or a rectangular parallelepiped is shown for any image, but this is for easy understanding of a three-dimensional image. In the present embodiment, both the target image and the reference image correspond to the human head.
(2. Processing operation)
Next, the processing operation of the apparatus shown in FIG. 1 will be described. In the present embodiment, a case where the reference image group includes 10 reference images and the target image group includes 5 target images will be described as an example. First, when a reference image group and a target image group are input, the
Next, the scaling means 20 performs density value scaling. This is performed so that the pixel values of both image groups fall within a predetermined range when comparing image groups photographed between different models. Specifically, for each of the reference image group and the target image group, an average value of all the pixels of the image included in the image group is calculated, and a process of dividing the value of each pixel by the average value is performed. That is, in the case of this embodiment, for the reference image group, the average value of all the pixels of 10 images is calculated and the value of each pixel of each reference image is divided. A process of calculating the average value of the pixels and dividing the value of each pixel of each target image is performed.
Next, the
Next, the statistical processing means 40 performs statistical processing on the pre-processed reference image group and target image group, and identifies pixels having a large difference. As a statistical method, “t-test between two groups” is used. Since the t-test between the two groups is a well-known statistical processing method, a detailed description is omitted.
As a result of the test, coordinates that exceed a certain predetermined significance level are determined to be significantly different between the two image groups, and are subjected to correction. The significance level is set in advance. For example, a general significance level of about 5% can be set in the test. Of course, the significance level is not limited to 5%, and can be set to any significance level. When the numerical value of the significance level is increased, a wider range of pixels becomes the correction target. Furthermore, it is possible to correct all voxels without setting a significance level. In this way, the pixel to be corrected is determined.
Next, the correction parameter calculation means 50 calculates a correction parameter. In the present embodiment, a correction method can be selected from an addition model and a multiplication model, and correction parameters differ depending on the two models. The addition model assumes that a captured image is obtained by adding a bias depending on the model to an image that should originally be. In this case, the correction parameter “X a −X b ” is calculated using the average value X a of the pixels of all images of the reference image group and the average value X b of the pixels of all images of the target image group. On the other hand, the multiplication model assumes a case where a captured image is obtained by multiplying an original image by a bias depending on the model. In this case, the correction parameter “X a / X b ” is calculated. Here, the average value X a and the average value X b to be used are calculated from an image in a state where the scaling means 20 does not perform density value scaling.
As described above, the coordinates of the pixel to be corrected specified by the
Next, the
As described above, a plurality of reference images and a plurality of target images are required to specify the pixel to be corrected and calculate the correction parameter. By storing it, even if only one target image captured by a specific model is received, it is possible to correct it.
