Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a Fresnel lens sheet formed on the observation side that refracts light projected from a light source and emits the light from the observation side, and in particular, a Fresnel lens in which the riser angle of the riser surface of the Fresnel lens is optimized. It relates to a lens sheet.
The present invention also relates to a transmissive screen including a Fresnel lens sheet in which the riser angle of the riser surface is optimized, and a rear projection display device including the transmissive screen.
Furthermore, this invention relates to the metal mold | die for shape | molding the Fresnel lens sheet by which the riser angle of the riser surface was optimized.
In recent years, as a thin video display device, a rear projection display device (including a rear projection television) that can be manufactured at a relatively low cost is drawing attention. The rear projection display device includes a light source that projects image light and a transmissive screen that transmits image light projected from the light source. In general, a transmission screen has a Fresnel lens sheet that deflects image light enlarged and projected from a light source in a direction perpendicular to the sheet surface, and a light diffusion sheet that diffuses image light deflected by the Fresnel lens sheet. is doing. The Fresnel lens sheet includes a Fresnel lens made up of a plurality of lens elements arranged concentrically. A typical lens element has a facet surface (lens surface) that refracts and emits light and a riser surface that connects the facet surface to a facet surface of an adjacent lens element (for example, a patent) Literature 1 and Patent literature 2).
Such a Fresnel lens sheet is usually molded using a mold formed by cutting. The mold is concentrically arranged, and a plurality of grooves each corresponding to each lens element are formed by a tool or the like. Patent Document 1 discloses an example of a method for designing a riser angle (an angle formed by a riser surface and a normal to a sheet surface in a cross-sectional view), and Patent Document 2 describes the influence of stray light incident on the riser surface. In order to suppress this, it is disclosed that the riser surface is a rough surface.
That is, while the projection distance from the light source is shortened, the Fresnel lens has a lens element that is arranged far away from the arrangement center (optical center). The lens angle of such a lens element (the angle formed by the facet surface and the sheet surface in a cross-sectional view) is very large, and as the lens element disposition position moves away from the disposition center, a predetermined value corresponding to the refractive index of the Fresnel lens is obtained. It increases in a curved line so as to approach the angle.
As described above, the groove of the mold for forming the Fresnel lens sheet is formed by a cutting tool having a certain cutting edge angle. Therefore, the riser angle of the riser surface adjacent to the facet surface having a large lens angle inevitably increases to some extent corresponding to the lens angle. When the riser angle is increased, the amount of light incident on the riser surface is increased, and the image quality is significantly deteriorated such as appearance of a double image (ghost). For this reason, it is not preferable to make the riser angle larger than necessary, and the riser angle should be optimized in accordance with the lens angle. That is, since the lens angle changes in a curved line, it is not appropriate to change the riser angle in a straight line as disclosed in Patent Document 1.
Moreover, in order to suppress the influence of the light incident on the riser surface, it is preferable to form the riser surface as a rough surface as disclosed in Patent Document 2.
On the other hand, if the riser angle is too small, the groove surface may be unevenly roughened by the facet when the groove of the mold is produced. In this case, an arc extending on the transmissive screen emerges, which is not preferable.
The present invention has been made in consideration of such points, and an object thereof is to provide a Fresnel lens sheet capable of displaying a good image by appropriately designing the riser angle of the riser surface. .
The present invention also provides a transmissive screen capable of displaying a good image by appropriately designing the riser angle of the riser surface of the Fresnel lens, and a rear projection display device including the screen. The purpose is to provide.
Furthermore, an object of the present invention is to provide a mold for molding a Fresnel lens sheet in which the riser angle of the riser surface is optimized and a good image can be displayed.

In a cross section perpendicular to the surface, when the second angle formed by the perpendicular to the plate surface and the second surface of the groove is Z ′ (°), the second angle of the groove formed on the outermost side, Both the second angle of the groove formed at the position that maximizes Expression (7) satisfies Expression (8).

According to the Fresnel lens sheet according to the present invention, the riser angle of the lens element of the Fresnel lens is appropriately designed, the amount of light incident on the riser surface can be reduced, and the substantially uniform rough surface on the riser surface. At the same time, a Fresnel lens sheet having a substantially uniform rough surface on the riser surface can be molded.
Hereinafter, an embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIGS. 1 to 13 are views for explaining an embodiment of a Fresnel lens sheet, a transmission screen, a rear projection display device, and a mold for molding a Fresnel lens sheet according to the present invention.
1 is a perspective view showing a rear projection type video display device, FIG. 2 is a side view showing a schematic configuration of an optical system in the rear projection type video display device, and FIG. 3 is a perspective view showing a transmission screen. 4 is a sectional view showing a transmission screen, and FIG. 5 is a sectional view showing a Fresnel lens sheet together with a mold for molding a Fresnel lens sheet.
As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the rear projection type
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the
As shown in FIG. 4, the
On the other hand, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 4, the
In addition, although the
Further, in the present embodiment, an example is shown in which the arrangement center O of the
Such a
As an example, FIG. 5 shows a
Next, the design method of the
First, the design method of the
As shown in FIG. 6, the light incident from the light source side of the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 6, when the riser angle Z of the
As shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the riser angle Z of the
In FIG. 11, the change in the angle θ 2 with the separation length (radius) r from the arrangement center O in a Fresnel lens having a projection distance f of 500 mm and a refractive index n of 1.55 is a curve. Represented as L1. Therefore, the riser angle Z satisfying the equation (16) is a value in the region on the horizontal axis side (lower side) from the curve L1 in the graph shown in FIG.
On the other hand, the lens angle φ of the
As described above, the riser angle Z and the lens angle φ of the
Similarly, the first angle φ ′ of the

In particular, as shown in FIG. 8, the
By the way, not all the light incident on the
For this reason, as shown in FIG. 10, the second angle Z ′ of the
φ ′ + λ + (90 ° −Z 0 ′) = 180 ° Formula (18)
Z ′> Z 0 ′ = φ ′ + λ−90 ° Formula (19)
Here, λ in the equation is a cutting edge angle (°) of the
Usually, the cutting edge angle λ of the
By the way, if the second angle Z ′ of the
Then, in addition to the condition represented by the above-described equation (19), when the clearance angle δ is further considered, the second angle Z ′ of the
Z ′> Z 0 ′ + δ = φ ′ + λ−90 ° + δ (20)
Z ′> φ′−43 ° Formula (21)
Z ′> φ′−40 ° (formula 22)
Z ′> φ′−48 ° Formula (23)
Z ′> φ′−45 ° Formula (24)
On the other hand, when the
Z> Z 0 = φ + λ−90 ° Formula (25)
Z> φ + λ−90 ° + δ Formula (26)
Z> φ−43 ° Formula (27)
Z> φ−40 ° Formula (28)
Z> φ−48 ° Formula (29)
Z> φ−45 ° Formula (30)
Here, in FIG. 11, in the
As described above, based on the function of the
Actually, the riser angle Z is inevitably 0 ° at the arrangement center O of the
In particular, in such a case, if the riser angle Z is set so as to increase in proportion to the length r, as shown by a dotted line in FIG. And a region that does not satisfy the condition of Expression (25) appears. As shown in FIG. 11, the curve L1 serving as the boundary line for satisfying the condition of Expression (16) and the curve L2 serving as the boundary line for satisfying the condition of Expression (25) are both r-axis. This is because it is along a parabola that is convex in a direction parallel to. Therefore, the riser angle Z of each
Here, the riser angle Z that changes linearly as the length r increases does not satisfy the equation (16) when the value of the length r increases as shown in FIG. For this reason, what is necessary is just to set so that the riser angle Z of the
On the other hand, the region of the length r where the riser angle Z that changes linearly with the increase of the length r does not satisfy the formula (25) is a curve L2 extending from the origin (coordinates: 0, 0) in the graph of FIG. It is the contact periphery with respect to the curve L2 of the tangent L5 to Therefore, the riser angle Z of the
tan −1 ((φ + λ−90 °) / r) (31)
Then, the riser angle Z of the
As shown in FIG. 13, when the transmission screen 20 (Fresnel lens sheet 30) does not include the arrangement center O of the
Incidentally, as described above, the cross-sectional shape of the

A mold having the same first angle as in Example 1 was produced. However, in this example, the second angle was not particularly set. A Fresnel lens sheet was molded by the UV molding method in the same manner as in Example 1 using the formed mold.

A mold was manufactured in the same manner as in Example 1 except for the second angle.
[Comparative Example 4]
A mold was manufactured in the same manner as in Example 2 except for the second angle. The second angle of the outermost groove was set to 35 °, which was larger than the limit angle by cutting and smaller than the angle of the projection light transmitted through the Fresnel lens sheet. The second angle of the grooves arranged at other arrangement positions is the above point, the origin (
In the molded Fresnel lens sheet, ring-shaped spots were observed on the riser surface of the lens element arranged at a position where the distance from the arrangement center of the lens element was 500 mm to 700 mm. In the range where the spots are observed, when the first surface is formed, the clearance angle formed by the surface that does not face the first surface of the tool (the back of the tool) and the second surface is less than 2 ° in calculation.
The molded Fresnel lens sheet was combined with a lenticular lens sheet (light diffusion sheet), attached to a 50-inch rear projection television, and an image displayed on the rear projection television was observed. Ring-shaped spots were also observed over the lenticular lens sheet.
