Description
The present invention relates to a nozzle plate used in a liquid ejecting apparatus, a liquid ejecting head using the same, and a method for manufacturing the nozzle plate.
The liquid ejecting head is used for manufacturing various electronic devices or electronic devices such as an ink jet recording head used for a printer and a color ejecting head used for manufacturing a color filter of a liquid crystal display.
FIG. 10 shows a conventional
As shown in these drawings, the liquid ejecting
By the way, in recent liquid ejecting
Further, in order to increase the speed of printing and the like, it is required to form the
However, when the density of the
The present invention provides a nozzle plate, a liquid jet head using the same, and a method for manufacturing the nozzle plate that can suppress the production cost even when the density and speed of liquid ejection are increased. Objective.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, a plate-like base material in which a plurality of discharge ports for ejecting liquid are respectively formed on the same main surface and the main surfaces of the plurality of base materials are joined. A fixed plate, and the fixed plate has an opening that exposes the plurality of discharge ports and the periphery thereof, and the base material is an exposed region that is exposed from the opening of the fixed plate. This is achieved by a nozzle plate having liquid repellency and having a surface region joined to the fixed plate having higher lyophilicity than the exposed region.
According to the configuration of the first invention, the nozzle plate is formed by joining a plate-like base material in which a plurality of discharge ports for ejecting liquid are formed on the same main surface and the same main surface of the plurality of base materials. Fixing plate. For this reason, a plurality of base materials are connected via the fixed plate, and a large nozzle plate having a large number of discharge ports on the same main surface side can be formed.
And, compared with the case where a large number of discharge ports are formed on a single nozzle plate, a smaller number of discharge ports are inevitably caused by the occurrence of defective products. Lower. Also, even if a defective product occurs in the manufactured base material, only the defective product can be replaced with another good base material and bonded to the fixed plate. Therefore, rather than making a single nozzle plate consisting of a single large piece, the yield is better when a plurality of relatively small substrates are formed and connected by a fixed plate as in the present invention.
Further, even if the base material and the fixed plate are joined in this manner, the fixed plate has an opening that exposes the discharge port, so that liquid can be ejected from the opening.
Moreover, although this opening part also exposes the periphery of a discharge outlet, the exposed area | region exposed from the opening part of a base material has liquid repellency. For this reason, it is easy to wipe off the residual liquid adhering to the discharge port and its periphery by wiping, and the liquid can be accurately ejected from the discharge port.
In addition, since the surface area of the base material joined to the fixed plate is higher in lyophilicity than the exposed area, the base material and the fixed plate can be reliably joined with high positional accuracy.
Thus, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a nozzle plate that can suppress the production cost even if the density and speed of liquid ejection are increased.
According to a second aspect of the invention, in the configuration of the first aspect of the invention, the diameter of the opening is increased toward the side opposite to the base material side.
According to the structure of 2nd invention, the aperture diameter is large as it goes to the opposite side to the base material side. For this reason, a step portion is not formed between the surface of the fixed plate and the surface of the base material, and the wiping member when wiping moves smoothly between the surface of the fixed plate and the surface of the base material. To do. Therefore, the wiping member can be reliably wiped without being damaged.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, there is provided a liquid jet comprising a nozzle plate in which a plurality of ejection openings for ejecting liquid is formed, and a flow path section that supplies the liquid to the ejection opening. The nozzle plate includes a plate-like base material in which the plurality of discharge ports are respectively formed on the same main surface, and a fixed plate to which the main surfaces of the plurality of base materials are joined. The fixing plate has an opening that exposes the plurality of discharge ports and the periphery thereof, and the base material has a liquid-repellent exposed region exposed from the opening of the fixing plate. And a surface region joined to the fixed plate is achieved by a liquid ejecting head having higher lyophilicity than the exposed region.
According to the configuration of the third invention, the nozzle plate of the liquid jet head includes a plate-like base material in which a plurality of ejection openings for ejecting liquid are formed on the same main surface, and a main surface of the plurality of base materials. And a fixing plate to be joined. Therefore, similarly to the first invention, a large nozzle plate having a large number of discharge ports on the same main surface side can be formed, and the yield is improved.
In addition, since the fixed plate has an opening so that the discharge port is exposed, liquid can be ejected from this opening, but this opening also exposes not only the discharge port but also its surroundings, The exposed region of the base material exposed from the opening has liquid repellency. For this reason, similarly to the first invention, it is possible to easily scrape off the residual liquid adhering to the discharge port and its periphery by wiping, and to accurately eject the liquid from the discharge port.
In addition, since the surface area of the base material joined to the fixed plate is higher in lyophilicity than the exposed area, the base material and the fixed plate can be reliably joined with high positional accuracy.
Thus, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a liquid ejecting head using a nozzle plate that can suppress the production cost even if the density and speed of liquid ejection are increased.
According to the fourth aspect of the present invention, the liquid repellent film is formed on the entire main surface of the plate-like base material in which a plurality of discharge ports for ejecting liquid are formed on the same main surface. A base material forming step, and modifying the main surface of the base material and the surface area outside the plurality of discharge ports and the periphery thereof so as to be at least more lyophilic than the liquid repellent film. A surface modification step, an adhesive application step of applying an adhesive to the surface regions of the plurality of base materials, and a fixing plate on which the surface regions and openings of the plurality of base materials are formed. It is achieved by a method of manufacturing a nozzle plate, which includes a base material combining step of joining the plurality of discharge ports and their surroundings so as to be exposed from the opening.
According to the structure of 4th invention, the base material formation process which forms the plate-shaped base material which each formed the several discharge outlet which ejects a liquid in the same main surface, and the surface area (namely, base material) of a base material An adhesive application step of applying an adhesive to the main surface of the plurality of discharge ports and the periphery thereof, and a base material combining step of joining each surface region of the plurality of base materials to the fixing plate Have. Therefore, by the same operation as that of the first invention, a plurality of base materials can be connected via the fixed plate to form a large nozzle plate having many discharge ports on the same main surface side, and the yield can be improved.
Further, in the base material combining step, a plurality of discharge ports and their surroundings are exposed from the opening of the fixed plate, so that liquid can be ejected from the discharge through the opening.
In addition, the plurality of base materials and the fixing plate are bonded using the adhesive applied in the adhesive application process, but this adhesive is a surface that has been modified to increase lyophilicity in the surface modification process. It is applied to the area. Therefore, it is possible to reliably join the plurality of base materials and the fixing plate with high positional accuracy.
Furthermore, in the base material merging step, the base material and the fixing plate are joined so that the discharge port and its periphery are exposed from the opening, but in the base material forming step before the base material merging step, Is formed with a liquid repellent film. For this reason, a liquid repellent film is formed at and around the discharge port exposed from the opening. Therefore, the residual liquid adhering to the discharge port and its surroundings can be easily rubbed off by wiping, and the liquid can be accurately ejected from the discharge port.
Thus, according to the present invention, it is possible to provide a method of manufacturing a nozzle plate that can suppress the production cost even if the density and speed of liquid ejection are increased.
According to a fifth aspect of the present invention, in the configuration of the fourth aspect, in the surface modification step, after masking the plurality of discharge ports and the periphery of the base material, the base material is under atmospheric pressure. The surface region is modified by plasma treatment.
According to the configuration of the fifth aspect of the invention, in the surface modification step, the plasma treatment is performed after masking the plurality of outlets of the substrate and the surroundings. For this reason, for example, there is no possibility that the etching solution enters the masked region as in wet etching, and the plurality of masked discharge ports and the liquid repellent film formed around them are not damaged.
Further, since this plasma treatment is performed near atmospheric pressure, it is not necessary to evacuate the chamber, continuous treatment is possible, and masking is also simple. Therefore, manufacturing can be facilitated to reduce costs, and productivity can be improved.
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, in the configuration of the fourth aspect, in the surface modification step, after the plurality of discharge ports and the periphery thereof are masked, the base material is irradiated with ultraviolet rays. The surface region is modified.
According to the configuration of the sixth aspect of the invention, in the surface modification step, the plurality of discharge ports and the surroundings of the base material are masked, and then the base material is irradiated with ultraviolet rays. For this reason, for example, there is no possibility that the etching solution enters the masked region as in wet etching, and the plurality of masked discharge ports and the liquid repellent film formed around them are not damaged.
Further, when the surface modification method is an ultraviolet irradiation method, a masking method is simple, and it is possible to scan or array a plurality of ultraviolet irradiation lamps at once. Therefore, manufacturing can be facilitated to reduce costs, and productivity can be improved.

As shown in FIG. 1, the

And the main surface of the fixed

In addition, for the
The reason why the
As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the diameter of the
On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 4, for the
At this time, in order to reduce the production cost as described above, in this embodiment, the

The embodiment of the present invention is configured as described above. Next, an example of a method for manufacturing the
FIG. 5 shows the manufacturing process of the
The
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 6A, a thin stainless steel material (for example, SUS316), quartz, or the like is cut into a rectangular shape to form a plurality of base materials 34-1 from which the
Then, as shown in FIG. 6 (b) corresponding to the cut surface portion of the CC line in FIG. 6 (a), a
Next, as shown in ST3 to ST5 in FIG. 5, the surface modification is performed so that a predetermined surface region of the base material is modified so as to have higher lyophilicity than at least the
Specifically, as shown in FIG. 6C, a
Then, as shown in FIG. 6D, the
Thereafter, as shown in FIG. 7 (e), the
In the case of this embodiment, this surface modification modifies the
As described above, since the atmospheric pressure plasma treatment is performed in the present embodiment, there is no possibility that the etching solution enters the masked region as in the wet etching, and the masking
Next, as shown in ST6 of FIG. 5, an adhesive application step is performed. That is, as shown in FIG. 7 (f), the mask member 44 (see FIG. 7 (e)) is peeled off from the
Next, as shown in ST7 of FIG. 5, a base material combining step is performed. That is, as shown in FIG. 7G, the
Note that a thin film may be formed on the surface of the fixed
The embodiment of the present invention is configured as described above, and the

FIG. 8 and FIG. 9 are conceptual diagrams according to modified examples for explaining characteristic portions as compared with the nozzle plate manufacturing method described in FIG. 1 to FIG.
In addition, about the modification of the manufacturing method of this nozzle plate, since the process of FIG. 5 and the flow itself are substantially the same, the overlapping description is abbreviate | omitted and it demonstrates centering around difference below.
The manufacturing method according to this modification is mainly different from the manufacturing method described with reference to FIGS. 1 to 7 in that UV irradiation processing is performed instead of atmospheric pressure plasma processing.
That is, after following the same procedure as the steps ST1 (discharge port formation) and ST2 (liquid repellent film formation) in FIG. 5, a masking step is performed in the same manner as ST3 in FIG. In this case, masking may be made of any material as long as it does not transmit ultraviolet rays to be described later. Examples of the mask member include a mask and a reticle. Specifically, a plurality of
Next, the
Next, in the surface modification step of ST5 in FIG. 5, as shown in FIG. 8, UV irradiation treatment is performed instead of atmospheric pressure plasma treatment. That is, by irradiating the
Specifically, the inside of the
Further, the
Next, as in ST6 of FIG. 5, after removing the mask member, an adhesive is applied to the surface region. At this time, in this modified example, the portion irradiated with the above-described ultraviolet rays (the surface in FIG. 8) was subjected to wet cleaning of the substrate after the ultraviolet irradiation between the step of removing the mask member and the step of applying the adhesive. The liquid repellent film in the
Next, as in ST7 of FIG. 5, the base material combining step is performed to complete the nozzle plate. As described above, since the base material is wet cleaned, as shown in FIG. .. And the
The modification of the manufacturing method according to the embodiment of the present invention is configured as described above, and in the surface modification step, the

Each configuration of the embodiment and each modified example can be appropriately combined or omitted, and can be combined with other configurations not shown.
