Abstract
【解決手段】液晶表示素子1とその観察側とは反対側に配置された面光源18との間に、面光源18からの照射光を複数の細長プリズム22により集光して液晶表示素子1に入射させるプリズムシート21を配置し、前記液晶表示素子1の液晶層11を挟んで対向する一対の基板2,3の対向する内面それぞれに複数の画素領域を形成する第1と第2の電極4,6を設け、観察側の基板2と観察側偏光板12との間及び反対側の基板3と反対側偏光板13との間にそれぞれ視野補償フィルム14,15を配置し、反対側偏光板13とそれに隣接する視野補償フィルム15との間に予め定めたヘイズ値を有する第1の拡散手段16を設け、反対側偏光板13の面光源18に対向する面に第1の拡散手段16よりも小さいヘイズ値を有する第2の拡散手段17を設けた構成とした。

Claims (4)
- 光の透過を制御する複数の画素をマトリックス状に配列した液晶表示素子と、
前記液晶表示素子の観察側とは反対側に配置され、前記液晶表示素子に向けて照明光を照射する面光源と、
互いに平行に形成された複数の細長プリズムを有し、前記面光源と前記液晶表示素子との間に配置され、前記面光源からの照射光を前記複数の細長プリズムにより集光して前記液晶表示素子に入射させるプリズムシートとからなり、
前記液晶表示素子は、
観察側とその反対側の一対の基板間に封入された液晶層と、
前記一対の基板の対向する内面それぞれに互いに対向させて設けられるか、或いは一方の基板の内面に互いに絶縁して設けられ、前記液晶層に電界を印加して液晶分子の配向状態を制御する複数の画素領域を形成する第1と第2の電極と、
前記一対の基板を挟んで配置された観察側偏光板及び反対側偏光板と、
前記観察側の基板と前記観察側偏光板との間及び前記反対側の基板と前記反対側偏光板との間にそれぞれ配置された視野補償フィルムと、
前記反対側偏光板とそれに隣接する前記視野補償フィルムとの間に設けられた予め定めたヘイズ値を有する第1の拡散手段と、
前記反対側偏光板の前記面光源に対向する面に設けられ、前記第1の拡散手段よりも小さいヘイズ値を有する第2の拡散手段と、
を備えていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 第1の拡散手段のヘイズ値は60±5に設定され、第2の拡散手段のヘイズ値は24±5に設定されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第2の拡散手段は、反対側偏光板の面光源に対向する面を粗面化した拡散面からなっていることを特徴請求項1または2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 第1の拡散手段は、光散乱粒子を混入した粘着剤層からなっており、反対側偏光板とそれに隣接する視野補償フィルムは、前記粘着剤層を介して貼付けられていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
