Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a blood pressure measurement device or a cuff that is mounted on an upper arm, a wrist, a lower limb, or the like and continuously measures blood pressure once or intermittently.
Conventional blood pressure monitors for home or hospital use must be expanded by introducing air into an air bag made of natural rubber or polyurethane called cuff wound around the measurement site to block the measurement site. Therefore, an air supply mechanism composed of a pump, a valve and the like is essential. In such a sphygmomanometer that pressurizes using air, durability such as downsizing of the apparatus, generation of noise during driving, deterioration of air bags, air piping, pumps, and the like has been problems.
In particular, in a 24-hour sphygmomanometer that a patient always wears (24 hours) and continuously or continuously measures blood pressure, problems of downsizing and noise are remarkable. That is, the patient must carry a device having a mechanical part such as a pump in addition to the cuff, and the QOL is remarkably lowered due to action restrictions and noise during measurement. In addition, there is a need to easily measure blood pressure at night or at any place in home blood pressure monitors and hospital blood pressure monitors, and miniaturization and low noise of devices are desired.

As shown in FIGS. 2 to 4, the first and

[Outline of electroactive polymer]
An electroactive polymer undergoes deformation when actuated by electrical energy. In this embodiment, the electroactive polymer includes a polymer that acts as an insulating dielectric between two electrodes and deforms when a voltage difference is applied between the two electrodes. The electroactive polymer of this embodiment can apply at least about 200% linear strain and at least about 300% surface strain.
As shown in FIG. 4A, the
FIG. 4B is a perspective view of the
Suitable materials for use as an electroactive polymer may include any polymer or rubber that is substantially an insulator such that it deforms in response to an electrostatic force or changes its electric field due to the deformation. One such suitable material includes any dielectric elastomer polymer, silicone rubber, fluoroelastomer, and the like.
The operating voltage suitable for the electroactive polymer in this embodiment can vary depending on the material and properties (eg, dielectric constant) of the electroactive polymer as well as the dimensions of the polymer (eg, thickness between electrodes).

The blood pressure measurement operation in the present embodiment is the same as the flow of FIG. 6 described above.
In this embodiment, the DC voltage signal for expanding / contracting the electroactive polymer (for increasing / decreasing the cuff 2) affects the expansion / contraction of the electroactive polymer (for example, unlike the pulse wave component). The capacitance change (C) due to the expansion and contraction of the electroactive polymer is detected by monitoring the 1 KHz AC voltage signal that has passed through the band-

As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, the cuff-integrated sphygmomanometer of the present embodiment separates a

As shown in FIG. 11A, the
