Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a cooling grid facility for supporting and cooling a slab installed immediately below a mold of a continuous casting machine, and a slab manufacturing method using the continuous casting machine in which the cooling grid facility is installed. Is.
In continuous casting of steel, molten steel poured from a ladle into a tundish is poured into a water-cooled mold through an immersion nozzle installed at the bottom of the tundish, and then the solidified shell formed by the mold is used. The cast slab as the outer shell is continuously drawn below the mold while being cooled, and a continuous cast slab is manufactured. In this case, first, in the mold, the molten steel is cooled by contacting the mold to form a solidified shell. Thereafter, the slab that has passed through the mold is pulled out in the casting direction by a pinch roll while being supported by a slab support / guide device including a guide roll, a cooling grid, a cooling plate, and the like. By being supported by the slab support / guide device, swelling of the slab in the thickness direction (referred to as “bulging”) is prevented. This slab support / guide device includes spray nozzles such as water spray nozzles and air mist spray nozzles (hereinafter simply referred to as “spray nozzles” means both water spray nozzles and air mist spray nozzles). The slab is pulled out while being cooled by the cooling water sprayed from the spray nozzle, and eventually solidification to the center is completed. Then, it cut | disconnects to predetermined length with the slab cutting machine installed in the machine end of the continuous casting machine, and a continuous casting slab is manufactured.
By the way, in recent years, in order to reduce the manufacturing cost, improvement of productivity has been demanded more than ever, and in the continuous casting process, the speed of the production line, that is, the drawing speed of the slab is increased. . In order to realize this high drawing speed, it is necessary to solve various problems. In particular, there is a need for a technique for more efficiently cooling and supporting the slab directly under the mold. Under high-speed casting, the thickness of the solidified shell immediately below the mold becomes thin, and this solidified shell breaks and breakout occurs, or the solidified shell does not break. Due to the pressure, bulging occurs, and the molten steel surface in the mold fluctuates up and down, and mold powder is caught in the solidified shell, resulting in problems such as quality defects. That is, there is a need for a method for efficiently cooling a slab directly under the mold while supporting a slab having a thin solidified shell thickness so that bulging does not occur.
Conventionally, methods for supporting a slab directly under a mold are roughly classified into three types: a roll method, a cooling plate method, and a cooling grid method (for example, see Non-Patent Document 1).
In the roll method, a spray nozzle is installed in a gap between adjacent rolls in the casting direction, and the slab is supported by the roll while cooling the slab with cooling water sprayed from the spray nozzle. In this case, from the standpoint of cooling the slab, it is desirable to increase the roll diameter to increase the roll interval and widen the area of the slab that is water-cooled. Since it spreads, there is a problem that it becomes easy to bulge. Moreover, since the roll and the slab are in line contact, there is also a basic problem that the slab support area is small compared to the other two methods of supporting by the surface.
In the cooling plate method, the entire width of the slab is supported by a single plate, and this plate has a water cooling structure in which a flow path for cooling water is formed. In addition to indirectly cooling the piece, it also has a function of directly cooling the slab by ejecting water from the surface of the plate toward the slab. Thus, in the cooling plate method, the entire width direction of the slab is supported by one large plate, which is a very effective method for preventing bulging of the slab, but the area for directly cooling the slab is small. Since it is small, there is a problem that the cooling efficiency of the slab is poor. In addition, when a breakout occurs, there is no escape point for the steam generated after the water sprayed from the plate surface cools the slab, so there is a high risk of a steam explosion, which is also safe for operation. There is also a problem. Furthermore, since the plate is large and has an integral structure, it is also a big problem that processing and repair are difficult (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
However, a careful examination of conventional cooling grid type equipment revealed that the conventional cooling grid equipment has the following problems.
That is, in the conventional cooling grid equipment, the slab is mainly cooled by the cooling water sprayed from the water spray nozzle installed in the gap between the adjacent wear plates to support the slab. The cooling water is not directly applied to the contact part between the wear plate and the slab, and the cooling capacity of this part is weak, and the cooling capacity of the entire cooling grid equipment is insufficient at the time of high speed casting that is currently required. is there. This is because the wear plate itself is not water-cooled, but is cooled by the spray water sprayed from the water spray nozzle installed in the gap between the wear plates, and the contact portion between the slab and the wear plate is indirect by the wear plate. This is because it becomes cooling.
The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and the object of the present invention is to ensure a sufficient support area of the slab when the slab support just below the mold is carried out by the cooling grid method, and at the same time, It is to provide a cooling grid facility for a continuous casting machine with improved cooling capacity, and to provide a method for producing a continuous cast slab using a continuous casting machine equipped with this cooling grid facility.
The present inventors have intensively studied and studied in order to solve the above problems. The results of the examination and research are explained below.
In the conventional cooling grid equipment, the ratio of the area where the slab is supported by the wear plate is about 55% as shown in Non-Patent Document 1 mentioned above, in other words, about 45% of the slab surface. As the remaining 55% is indirect cooling, the area where the slab is supported by the wear plate in the cooling grid equipment as a means to increase the cooling capacity of the cooling grid equipment. (This is referred to as “wear plate area ratio”), and the area ratio that is directly cooled by spray water was increased.
Therefore, the cooling grid equipment used directly under the mold in actual operation, that is, an experimental device that simulates the structure combining the wear plate and the water spray nozzle, was manufactured, and the size of the wear plate was changed in this experimental device. By changing the area ratio of the wear plate in the range of 15% to 61%, the flow rate of the spray water is constant under each condition, and an experiment is conducted to cool the heated steel using this cooling grid equipment. The effect of wear plate area ratio on the cooling capacity of grid equipment was investigated. In the test, the steel material for cooling was heated for about 1 hour in an electric furnace maintained at 1200 ° C., then this steel material was taken out, fixed to an experimental apparatus and started to cool, and during the cooling, the change in the surface temperature of the steel material was measured. The cooling capacity of the cooling grid equipment was evaluated from the temperature drop of the steel material, measured with a three-dimensional radiation thermometer.
As a result, it was found that when the area ratio of the wear plate is 50% or less, the thermal conductivity is improved. However, when the area ratio of the wear plate is less than 20%, the area of the gap between the wear plates, that is, the area directly cooled by the spray water increases, but the spray water amount density is constant, so It was found that the cooling capacity was not improved due to the decrease. Further, in the cooling grid equipment, since the solidified shell directly under the mold is placed in a weak place, if the area ratio of the wear plate is made too small, the support of the slab is impaired. From these points, it was found that 20% is appropriate as the lower limit of the area ratio of the wear plate.
The present invention has been made on the basis of the above examination results, and the cooling grid equipment for a continuous casting machine according to the first invention is a cooling grid equipment for a continuous casting machine installed immediately below the mold of the continuous casting machine. The manufacturing method of the continuous cast slab according to the third invention uses the continuous casting machine provided with the cooling grid equipment for the continuous casting machine according to the second invention, and supplies the cooling water from the water spray nozzle or the air mist spray nozzle. It is characterized by casting while cooling the slab by spraying.
According to the cooling grid equipment for a continuous casting machine according to the present invention having the above-described configuration, the slab can be reliably supported and at the same time cooling of the slab can be improved without significantly modifying the equipment. Even under high-speed casting conditions, it is possible to stably cast high-quality slabs without causing operational troubles, and an industrially beneficial effect is brought about.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a diagram showing an embodiment of the present invention, and is a schematic view of a slab continuous casting machine equipped with a cooling grid facility according to the present invention. FIG. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the cooling grid facility in FIG. is there.
As shown in FIG. 1, a slab continuous casting machine 1 is provided with a mold 5 for cooling and solidifying

As shown in FIG. 2, the

The cooling grid equipment used directly under the mold in actual operation, that is, an experimental device simulating the structure directly under the mold combining the wear plate and the water spray nozzle was manufactured, and the size of the wear plate was changed in this experimental device. The area ratio of the wear plate was changed from 15% to 61%, and the heated steel material was cooled using this experimental apparatus, and the cooling capacity was compared and evaluated.
As a method for laboratory evaluation of the cooling capacity, a method is generally used in which heated steel is cooled with cooling water from a water spray nozzle and quantitative evaluation is made from the temperature history of the steel. In order to avoid the influence of water vapor generated by spraying, the opposite side of the steel material to the surface to be cooled was measured with a two-dimensional radiation thermometer.
As shown in FIG. 3, the experiment was conducted using an experimental apparatus having a structure in which six
In this experiment, the installation position of the
In the experiment, the above steel material was heated for about 1 hour in an electric furnace maintained at 1200 ° C., and the uniformly heated steel material was taken out and fixed to the experimental apparatus, and cooling was started. Table 1 shows the size of the wear plate and the wear plate area ratio in levels 1 to 6, and the average temperature of the steel material after 30 seconds from the start of cooling.
As shown in Table 1, in levels 2 to 5 where the wear plate area ratio is in the range of 20% to 50%, the average temperature of the steel was 760 ° C. or less, whereas the wear plate area ratio was 61%. In level 1, the average temperature of the steel was 812 ° C., and in
From the above results, it was confirmed that the cooling capacity of the cooling grid facility can be increased by setting the area ratio of the wear plate in the range of 20% to 50%. In the remarks column of Table 1, “example of the present invention” is displayed as the level of the scope of the present invention, and “comparative example” is displayed otherwise.
