Abstract
【解決手段】 駆動回路76には、圧電素子62にゲートスイッチ78を接続し、ゲートスイッチを介して電源回路74から供給される電力で圧電素子を電圧Vsに充電する。また、圧電素子には、所定の抵抗値の抵抗80が接続しており、ゲートスイッチがオフすることにより、圧電素子に蓄積された電荷が抵抗を介して放電される。駆動制御回路72は、放電制御信号によってゲートスイッチのオフ時間を制御することにより、圧電素子が放電から充電に切り替るときの電位差が、所定の吐出滴量の液滴が液滴イジェクタ64から吐出されるようにしている。

Description
〔第1の実施の形態〕
図1には、第1の本実施の形態に、液滴吐出装置として適用したインクジェット記録装置10の概略構成を示している。
tON=Δt+tOFF
=Δt1+tOFF1(小滴)
=Δt2+tOFF2(中滴)
=Δt3+tOFF3(大滴)
とするオフタイミングtOFFを、オフ時間Δtごとに設定する。なお、図7では、tON=Δt3としており、これにより、オフタイミングtOFF3=0となっている。
〔第2の実施の形態〕
次に本発明の第2の実施の形態を説明する。なお、第2の実施の形態の基本的構成は、前記した第1の実施の形態と同じであり、第2の実施の形態において、第1の実施の形態と同一の部品には、同一の符号を付与してその説明を省略する。

Claims (16)
- アクチュエータとして設けられた圧電素子に印加される電圧変化に応じて液滴イジェクタの圧力室の容積を拡縮させることにより、液滴イジェクタから液滴を吐出する液滴吐出ヘッドの駆動方法であって、
前記圧電素子を駆動して前記液滴イジェクタから液滴を吐出するときに、
所定電圧を圧電素子へ印加して充電可能としながら、放電要素を用いた前記圧電素子の放電時間を制御することにより端子電圧の変化を制御して圧電素子を駆動する、
ことを特徴とする液滴吐出ヘッドの駆動方法。 - 前記圧電素子を前記所定電圧に充電するときの充電開始時の前記端子電圧との電位差によって液滴イジェクタの前記圧力室を収縮させ、前記液滴イジェクタから前記電位差に応じた吐出滴量の液滴を吐出するときに、前記電位差が得られるように前記圧電素子の放電時間を制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液滴吐出ヘッドの駆動方法。
- 所定のタイミングで前記圧電素子を充電するときに、前記電位差が所望の電位差となるように前記放電手段による放電開始のタイミングを制御することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液滴吐出ヘッドの駆動方法。
- 所定のタイミングで前記圧電素子を充電するときに、前記電位差が所望の電位差となるように前記放電手段による放電を停止するタイミングを制御することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液滴吐出ヘッドの駆動方法。
- 前記圧電素子に前記放電要素を並列接続し、前記圧電素子及び前記放電要素に直列接続される第1のスイッチング素子のオン・オフによって圧電素子の充電及び放電を制御することを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4の何れか1項に記載の液滴吐出ヘッドの駆動方法。
- 前記圧電素子に前記放電要素を並列接続し、前記圧電素子及び前記放電要素に直列接続される第1のスイッチング素子のオン・オフによって圧電素子の充電及び放電を制御すると共に、前記放電要素に第二のスイッチング素子を設け、第二のスイッチング素子によって前記圧電素子の放電を制限することを特徴とする請求項1から請求項4の何れか1項に記載の液滴吐出ヘッドの駆動方法。
- 液滴イジェクタにアクチュエータとして設けられ、印加される電圧変化に応じて液滴イジェクタの圧力室内を拡縮させることにより、液滴イジェクタから液滴を吐出可能とする圧電素子の駆動回路であって、
前記圧電素子に印加する所定電圧の電力を出力する電源と、
前記圧電素子に並列接続された放電要素と、
並列接続された前記圧電素子及び前記放電要素と前記電源との間に設けられて入力される第1の操作信号に応じて開閉される第1のスイッチング素子と、
を含むことを特徴とする圧電素子の駆動回路。 - 前記放電要素に対して直列接続され、入力される第2の操作信号に応じて開閉される第2のスイッチング素子を、含むことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の圧電素子の駆動回路。
- 前記放電要素が、前記圧電素子の静電容量に基づいて設定された抵抗値の抵抗であることを特徴とする請求項7又は請求項8に記載の圧電素子の駆動回路。
- 圧電素子に印加される電圧変化に応じて圧力室が拡縮されることにより該圧力室に連通するノズルから液滴を吐出する液滴イジェクタと、
前記圧電素子の駆動用とする所定電圧の電力を出力する電源と、
前記電源から出力される電力によって前記圧電素子を前記所定電圧に充電する充電手段と、
前記充電手段によって前記所定電圧に充電された前記圧電素子を放電する放電手段と、
前記充電手段及び前記放電手段による前記圧電素子の充電及び放電を制御し、放電手段による放電が開始された前記圧電素子を充電手段によって充電することによる端子電圧の変化で圧電素子を駆動する駆動制御手段と、
を含むことを特徴とする液滴吐出装置。 - さらに、前記放電手段による前記圧電素子からの放電を制限する放電制限手段を含み、前記駆動制御手段が前記放電制限手段の作動を制御することを特徴とする請求項10に記載の液滴吐出装置。
- 前記充電手段は、前記電源と前記圧電素子の間に設けられた第1のスイッチング素子を含み、
前記放電手段は、前記圧電素子と並列接続される所定抵抗値の抵抗を含み、
前記駆動制御手段は、前記第1のスイッチング素子のオン・オフによって前記圧電素子への充電及び、圧電素子からの放電を制御する、
ことを特徴とする請求項10又は請求項11に記載の液滴吐出装置。 - 前記駆動制御手段は、前記圧電素子の静電容量、前記抵抗の抵抗値及び前記液滴イジェクタからの吐出滴量に応じて設定された前記第1のスイッチング素子のオフ時間に基づいて、第1のスイッチング素子の作動を制御する、
ことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液滴吐出装置。 - 前記放電手段は、前記抵抗と直列接続された第2のスイッチング素子を含み、
前記駆動制御手段は、前記第2のスイッチング素子をオフすることにより、前記圧電素子からの放電を停止する、
ことを特徴とする請求項12に記載の液滴吐出装置。 - 前記駆動制御手段は、前記第1のスイッチング素子の作動によって放電開始及び充電開始タイミングを制御すると共に、
前記圧電素子の静電容量、前記抵抗の抵抗値及び前記液滴イジェクタからの吐出滴量に応じて前記第2のスイッチング素子の作動を制御する、
ことを特徴とする請求項14に記載の液滴吐出装置。 - 前記駆動制御手段は、所定のタイミングで前記第1のスイッチング素子をオフからオンに切り換えるように制御する、
ことを特徴とする請求項13又は請求項15に記載の液滴吐出装置。
