Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a pattern wiring, a method for forming the same, an electro-optical device, and an electronic apparatus.
In recent years, a film forming technique using a droplet discharge method (inkjet method) has been used in forming a pattern wiring in an electric circuit. In this film forming technique, a liquid material (functional liquid) containing a functional material is arranged in a pattern on a substrate using a drawing apparatus such as an ink jet printer, and the arranged functional liquid is dried to form a film. It is said that the process is simple and the process is very effective. For example,

However, when pattern wiring is formed by the above-described method, it is difficult to make the film thickness distribution in the electrode portion uniform. This is due to the fact that in the process of filling the functional liquid, a gradient of the liquid level occurs along the Y-axis direction in the figure in the
The cause of the functional fluid gradient is considered to be due to the asymmetry of the
The present invention has been made in order to solve the above-described problems, and provides a pattern wiring having a good uniformity of film thickness distribution within a predetermined region, a method for forming the same, an electro-optical device including the pattern wiring, and an electronic device. The purpose is to provide equipment.
The present invention is a pattern including a first region and a second region connected to the first region, and is a pattern wiring formed in a partition region partitioned by a bank, wherein the first region and the first region The connection area with the second area is substantially narrower than the second area.
The pattern wiring of the present invention is formed so that the connection region between the first region and the second region has a narrower width than the second region. The partition region related to such a connection region serves as a flow path that connects the partition region related to the first region and the second region, and is similar to the boundary of the partition in terms of the action of wetting due to capillary action. Work. As a result, the balance of the wetting action in the partitioned area is made uniform, and when the functional liquid is filled in the partitioned area for film formation, the film thickness distribution in the second area is suitably uniformized.
Preferably, the functional film has an additional region having a width substantially the same as the connection region at a position facing the connection region across the second region.
Since the pattern wiring of this invention is provided with the additional area | region of the same width as the connection area | region of the one end side in the other end side of a 2nd area | region, the symmetry of the shape of the partition area | region which concerns on a 2nd area | region is good. For this reason, when film formation is performed by filling the partition region with the functional liquid, the film thickness distribution in the second region is suitably uniformized.

(Droplet discharge device)
Next, a droplet discharge apparatus used in the droplet discharge method will be described with reference to FIG. FIG. 4 is a schematic diagram illustrating an example of the configuration of the droplet discharge device.
In FIG. 4, the
The

(Method for forming gate wiring)
Next, a method for forming a gate wiring will be described with reference to FIGS. 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8. FIG. 5 is a flowchart showing a gate wiring formation process. FIG. 6 is a plan view showing one process of the formation process of the gate wiring. FIG. 7 is a plan view showing one process of the formation process of the gate wiring. FIG. 8 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line BB in FIG.
First, as a functional liquid for forming the
The dispersion medium constituting the functional liquid is not particularly limited as long as it can disperse the above-described fine particles and does not cause aggregation. Specifically, in addition to water, alcohols such as methanol and ethanol, hydrocarbon compounds such as n-heptane and toluene, ether compounds such as ethylene glycol dimethyl ether, propylene carbonate, N-methyl-2- Mention may be made of polar compounds such as pyrrolidone. These can be used alone or as a mixture of two or more.
In addition, the functional liquid is a dispersion medium in consideration of the discharge characteristics and clogging properties of the droplet discharge device 200 (see FIG. 4), the stability of dispersion, the dynamic characteristics on the substrate after discharge, the drying speed, and the like. Appropriate adjustments are made for vapor pressure, dispersoid concentration, surface tension, viscosity, specific gravity, and the like. For this reason, a surfactant, a humectant, a viscosity modifier or the like can be added to the functional liquid.
The
In step S1, a resist layer serving as a base of the
In step S2, the surface of the resist layer is subjected to a liquid repellency treatment by tetrafluoromethane (CF 4 ) plasma treatment or the like. By this treatment, fluorine groups are introduced into the surface of the resist layer, and the surface has liquid repellency.
In step S3, a predetermined region of the resist layer (region corresponding to the mask pattern in the exposure process) is removed by etching to form a lower layer bank 10 (illustrated in the hatched region) as shown in FIG. As shown in the figure, the partition areas partitioned by the
In the present embodiment, the
In step S4, a cleaning process such as an ultraviolet irradiation process or an oxygen plasma process is performed on the upper surface side of the element substrate 2 (see FIG. 2). By this cleaning process, the resist layer residue that could not be removed in step S3 is removed, and the substrate surface exposed in the partition region and the inner wall surface of the
In the filling step S5, as shown in FIG. 6B, the
As shown in FIG. 8, the
A virtual line in FIG. 8 shows the state of the liquid surface of the
As can be seen from the above description, in the present embodiment, the
In the film forming step S6, volatile components in the
