Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a moisture detection method using a radio frequency identification (RFID) system including a reader / writer and an RF tag, and a urination / defecation detection system for a diaper using the method.
Alternatively, there has been proposed a method (Patent Document 3) for detecting that the dielectric constant of a capacitor changes due to the presence of a liquid and that the capacitance value change due to the change in the dielectric constant changes the resonance frequency of the LC resonance circuit including the capacitor.
The present invention uses a UHF band or microwave band RF tag, which is expected to be further miniaturized and reduced in price in the future, and solves problems such as large size, high cost, etc. of the conventionally proposed method. By providing a method for wearing a diaper easily, the caregiver who is the diaper user does not feel uncomfortable using the urination / defecation detection system, and the caregiver also wears the diaper. The present invention aims to provide an easy-to-handle system in which the RF tag can be disposable together with the used diaper when the urination and defecation are finished.
The RF tag includes a passive RF tag and an active RF tag. A passive RF tag refers to an RF tag having a function of transmitting information held by itself to a reader / writer by using electric power of a radio wave transmitted from the reader / writer. On the other hand, an active RF tag is an RF tag that has its own power source (battery) and has a function of transmitting information that it has with its power.
本発明はこの原理をUHF帯、マイクロ波帯のRFID(Radio Frequency Idenntification、無線タグ)システムに応用して水分検知あるいは排尿・排便検知を行おうとするものである。 Radio waves in the UHF band and microwave band are affected by moisture. In other words, if there is moisture in the propagation path, radio waves are absorbed thereby and propagation loss occurs. In the present invention, this principle is applied to UHF band and microwave band RFID (Radio Frequency Identification, wireless tag) systems to detect moisture or detect urination / defecation.
First, a case where a passive RF tag is used as the RF tag will be described. Passive RF tags use power generated from radio waves transmitted from the reader / writer when transmitting information to the reader / writer, so they are more susceptible to moisture than active RF tags, and they do not require batteries. There are advantages over the active type RF tag that it is easy to use, small size and small size, so that a diaper user has less uncomfortable feeling at the time of wearing, and the cost of the system can be kept low.
The basic principle of the present invention will be described below with reference to FIG.
An RFID system using a radio wave that is easily affected by moisture, such as a UHF band or a microwave band, includes a reader /
In the RFID system, when there is no moisture in the radio wave propagation path between the reader /
On the other hand, if there is moisture in the radio wave propagation path, the transmission radio wave from the reader /
In order to detect the influence of moisture as clearly as possible, the transmission power of the reader /
Further, when the present detection method is applied to a diaper, the
The following measures are conceivable as a method for correctly setting the distance and positional relationship between the reader /
That is, a
On the other hand, the reader /
The caregiver can adjust the position of the reader /
Even if the distance between the reader /
Next, a case where an active RF tag is used as the RF tag will be described.
In this case, since a battery is used as a power source for the RF tag, there are disadvantages such as a larger configuration than a passive type RF tag and a little troublesome handling. There is no need to generate from the transmission radio wave from the writer, so the transmission radio wave power from the reader / writer to the RF tag can be very small, and there is an advantage that the risk of damage to the human body due to the electromagnetic wave irradiation is greatly reduced. .
In the above description, both the passive RF tag and the active RF tag are waterproof, and moisture detection is performed using the change in the radio wave propagation characteristics between the reader / writer and the RF tag depending on the presence or absence of moisture. However, the RF tag is not particularly waterproof, and it is possible to detect moisture using the fact that the circuit in the RF tag malfunctions due to the presence of moisture. However, the RF tag in this case is disposable.
When the RF tag is to be used once or repeatedly attached to the diaper, a removal string with a tag attached to the RF tag is attached to the other end so that it can be easily picked up. An effective method is to remove the RF tag from the diaper by pulling and discard the RF tag by a predetermined disposal method when the RF tag is disposable, and to reuse it by attaching it to another new diaper after cleaning.
The reader / writer can be either a fixed installation type or a handy type used by a caregiver in his / her hand depending on the usage.
As described above, when a passive RF tag is used, a moisture detection method that is small, inexpensive, and does not require a battery can be realized. For example, the passive portion according to the present invention can be used as an optimal part for detecting urination and defecation in diapers for care recipients. By attaching urine type RF tag or integrating it with diaper to detect urine and feces, care recipient can use diaper without being aware of the existence of passive type RF tag. Since it is easy for a person to detect urination and defecation and the passive RF tag can be disposable in some cases, it is possible to improve convenience and comfort for both the care recipient and the caregiver.
Also, when using an active RF tag, the overall size of the RF tag becomes larger and the handling is somewhat troublesome as compared with the case of using a passive RF tag, but the transmitted radio wave power from the reader / writer is somewhat troublesome. This is a great advantage because it can greatly reduce the risk of damage caused by electromagnetic wave irradiation on the human body.
If the amount of electromagnetic wave irradiation from the reader / writer can be made so light that it does not pose a problem for the human body, a method using a passive RF tag is desirable because of its small size, low cost, and easy handling. However, when the amount of radio wave irradiation cannot be ignored, the active RF tag system should be adopted even though there is a drawback that a battery must be used.
In either method, multiple RF tags are attached to different parts of the diaper to improve the accuracy of moisture detection, and urination and defecation are detected with abnormal transmission / reception between one or two of the RF tags and the reader / writer. The method to do is effective.

With the above-described configuration and operation, the RFID system using the UHF band or microwave radio wave can be applied as a moisture detection system or as a diaper urination / defecation detection system as an application system thereof.
In the above description, radio wave transmission from the reader / writer is automatically performed at regular intervals, but there is also a method in which a caregiver arbitrarily performs manual operation.
As described above, the case where the passive RF tag of the present invention is used has been described. However, even when the active RF tag is used, the transmission radio wave power from the reader / writer can be very small, and the ID information from the RF tag can be obtained. The basic concept of the present invention is the same when using a passive RF tag, except that the radio wave transmission including the above is performed using the power of the battery owned by itself.

In addition, the configuration of the diaper may be changed, and the passive RF tag mounting sheet may be made of an electromagnetic wave protection material and integrated with the passive RF tag and the electromagnetic wave protection sheet. However, when integrating the passive tag and the electromagnetic wave protection sheet, it is necessary to consider that the electromagnetic wave protection sheet does not hinder radio wave transmission / reception between the reader / writer and the passive RF tag.

And it can be implemented in the same way as in the case of one.
In FIG. 4, 110 is a reader / writer, 410 is a setting tool for setting the optimum positional relationship between the reader /
