Abstract
Description
本発明は青色光を発光する発光ダイオードチップを具備する発光ダイオード装置に関する。 The present invention relates to a light emitting diode device including a light emitting diode chip that emits blue light.
発光ダイオード装置は、液晶ディスプレイ、携帯電話、情報端末等のバックライト、屋内外広告等、多方面への展開が飛躍的に進んでいる。さらに、発光ダイオード装置は長寿命で信頼性が高く、また低消費電力、耐衝撃性、高純度表示色、軽薄短小化の実現等の特徴を有することから、産業用のみならず一般照明用途への適用も試みられている。このような発光ダイオード装置を種々の用途に適用する場合、白色光を得ることが重要となる。 Light-emitting diode devices have been dramatically expanded in various fields such as liquid crystal displays, backlights for mobile phones and information terminals, indoor / outdoor advertisements, and the like. In addition, the light-emitting diode device has long life and high reliability, and has features such as low power consumption, impact resistance, high purity display color, lightness, thinness, and so on. Application of is also being attempted. When such a light emitting diode device is applied to various uses, it is important to obtain white light.
Typical methods for realizing white light in a light-emitting diode device include (1) a method using three light-emitting diode chips that emit red, green, and blue colors, and (2) a light-emitting diode chip that emits blue light. And a combination of a phosphor emitting yellow or orange light and (3) a combination of a light emitting diode chip emitting ultraviolet light and a red, green and blue three-color mixed phosphor. Among these, generally, from the viewpoint of luminance characteristics, the method (2) of combining a light emitting diode chip that emits blue light and a phosphor that emits yellow or orange light has been widely put into practical use.
。 As a structure of the light emitting diode device to which the above methods (2) and (3) are applied, a transparent resin mixed with a phosphor emitting a desired color is poured into a cup-shaped frame equipped with a light emitting diode chip. In general, a structure in which this is solidified to form a phosphor layer containing a phosphor (see, for example, Patent Document 1). Also, instead of such a thing, a transparent resin mixed with a phosphor emitting a desired color is used as a phosphor sheet by a transfer molding method or the like, which is disposed on the light emitting surface side of the light emitting diode chip. (For example, refer to Patent Document 2).
As described above, as a structure of the light emitting diode device, for example, a transparent resin mixed with a phosphor emitting a desired color is poured into a cup-shaped frame equipped with a light emitting diode chip and solidified to form a phosphor layer. Known to have a structure and a structure in which a phosphor sheet obtained by molding a transparent resin mixed with a phosphor emitting a desired color by a transfer molding method is arranged on the light emitting surface side of a light emitting diode chip. It has been.
これらのうち、蛍光体シートを利用するものは蛍光体シートを発光ダイオードチップの発光面側に接着等により固定するだけでよいため、製造工程を簡略化することができ、製造コストの低減が可能となる。 Of these, those using a phosphor sheet only require fixing the phosphor sheet to the light emitting surface side of the light emitting diode chip by bonding or the like, so that the manufacturing process can be simplified and the manufacturing cost can be reduced. It becomes.
また、蛍光体を含有する透明樹脂を流し込み固化させる構造の発光ダイオード装置については、蛍光体を含有する透明樹脂を流し込む必要からその粘度を小さくしなければならず、硬化させる間に蛍光体が沈下してしまうことがあるが、蛍光体シートを利用するものについては例えば蛍光体シートをトランスファー成形法等により成形するためこのような問題が発生しにくく、蛍光体の含有量や濃度を均一にすることができる。 In addition, for a light emitting diode device having a structure in which a transparent resin containing a phosphor is poured and solidified, the viscosity must be reduced because the transparent resin containing the phosphor needs to be poured, and the phosphor sinks during curing. However, for those using a phosphor sheet, for example, the phosphor sheet is molded by a transfer molding method or the like, so that such a problem hardly occurs, and the phosphor content and concentration are made uniform. be able to.
However, even in a light emitting diode device using such a phosphor sheet, color unevenness may occur on the light emission observation surface depending on the light distribution characteristics of the light emitting diode chip. In particular, color unevenness is likely to occur in a light emitting diode device that combines a light emitting diode chip that emits blue light and a phosphor that emits yellow or orange light as shown in (2) above. Specifically, when viewed from the light emission observation surface side, the central portion where the light emitting diode chip is disposed is blueish, and a portion that appears yellow, green, or red like a ring may be generated around the central portion. The human color sensation is particularly sensitive to white color, and even a slight color tone difference can be easily recognized. Therefore, it is preferable to suppress the occurrence of such color unevenness as much as possible.
本発明は上記したような課題を解決するためになされたものであって、蛍光体シートを利用した発光ダイオード装置において、色むらの発生が抑制された発光ダイオード装置を提供することを目的としている。 The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems, and an object of the present invention is to provide a light-emitting diode device in which occurrence of color unevenness is suppressed in a light-emitting diode device using a phosphor sheet. .

The definitions and technical meanings of terms in the present invention are as follows unless otherwise specified. The phosphor layer has phosphor particles that emit visible light when excited by blue light emitted from a light-emitting diode chip that emits blue light (hereinafter simply referred to as a light-emitting diode chip). White light is obtained by mixing the visible light emitted from the body particles and the light emitted from the light emitting diode chip. The type of phosphor particles is appropriately selected according to desired white light or blue light emitted from the light emitting diode chip.
According to the first aspect of the present invention, since the phosphor sheet has a light diffusion layer formed on at least one surface of the phosphor layer that emits blue light, for example, blue light emitted from a light emitting diode chip Light can be diffused by the light diffusing layer to be widely incident on the entire phosphor layer. For example, blue light emitted from a light-emitting diode chip and emitted through the phosphor layer and the phosphor of the phosphor layer Visible light emitted by the particles can be diffused by the light diffusion layer and emitted widely, and the occurrence of color unevenness in the light emitting diode device can be suppressed.
請求項2に係る発明によれば、発光ダイオードチップの配光特性に合わせて光拡散層の面積が調整されているため、発光ダイオード装置の色むらの発生を抑制した上で、発光輝度の低下も最小限度に抑制することができる。
According to the invention of
請求項3に係る発明によれば、蛍光体層と光拡散層とを有する蛍光体シートが一体成形されたものであるため、発光ダイオード装置の製造性を向上させることができる。
According to the invention of
請求項4に係る発明によれば、光拡散層がアルミナ、チタニアおよびシリカのいずれか一種を含むものであるため、発光ダイオードチップから発せられて蛍光体層へ入射する青色光、あるいは、蛍光体層から出射する可視光および青色光をこの光拡散層により十分に拡散させることができ、発光ダイオード装置における色むらの発生をより一層抑制することができる。 According to the invention of claim 4, since the light diffusion layer contains any one of alumina, titania and silica, blue light emitted from the light emitting diode chip and incident on the phosphor layer, or from the phosphor layer The emitted visible light and blue light can be sufficiently diffused by this light diffusion layer, and the occurrence of color unevenness in the light emitting diode device can be further suppressed.
以下、本発明について添付図面に基づいて説明する。なお、複数の添付図面中、同一または相当部分には同一の符号を付している。 The present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In addition, the same code | symbol is attached | subjected to the same or equivalent part in several attached drawing.
図1は本発明の発光ダイオード装置1の第1の実施形態を示す断面図である。本発明の発光ダイオード装置1は、基板2上に電気絶縁層3を介して回路パターン4が配設されている。基板2は放熱性と剛性とを有するアルミニウム(Al)やニッケル(Ni)、ガラスエポキシ等の平板からなるものである。
FIG. 1 is a cross-sectional view showing a first embodiment of a light-emitting
回路パターン4はCuとNiの合金やAu等により、陰極側と陽極側の回路パターン(配線パターン)4a、4bに形成されており、この回路パターン4上に青色光を発光する発光ダイオードチップ5が搭載されている。これらの発光ダイオードチップ5は青色光を発光するものであり、例えば窒化ガリウム(GaN)系半導体等からなるものである。
The circuit pattern 4 is formed on the cathode-side and anode-side circuit patterns (wiring patterns) 4a and 4b by an alloy of Cu and Ni, Au, or the like, and the light-emitting
発光ダイオードチップ5は、その底面電極が回路パターン4a、4bの一方の表面上に載置され電気的に接続される一方、その上面電極が回路パターン4a、4bの他方の表面上にボンディングワイヤ6により電気的に接続されている。
The bottom surface electrode of the light
そして、基板2上の発光ダイオードチップ5の周囲には、所要の間隔を置いてこれを取り囲むように凹部形成部材7が形成されている。凹部形成部材7は、基板2の表面から遠ざかるにつれて同心円状に漸次拡開する円錐台状の凹部8を有するものである。このような凹部形成部材7は、例えばPBT(ポリブチレンテレフタラート)、PPA(ポリフタルアミド)、PC(ポリカーボネート)等の合成樹脂からなるものである。
A
A
The
黄色ないし橙色発光蛍光体粒子としては、例えばRE3(Al,Ga)5O12:Ce蛍光体(REはY、GdおよびLaから選ばれる少なくとも1種を示す。)等のYAG蛍光体粒子、AE2SiO4:Eu蛍光体(AEはSr、Ba、Ca等のアルカリ土類元素である。)等の珪酸塩蛍光体粒子が用いられる。 Examples of yellow to orange-emitting phosphor particles include YAG phosphor particles such as RE 3 (Al, Ga) 5 O 12 : Ce phosphor (RE represents at least one selected from Y, Gd, and La). Silicate phosphor particles such as AE 2 SiO 4 : Eu phosphor (AE is an alkaline earth element such as Sr, Ba and Ca) are used.
In addition, the
In such a light emitting
このように本発明の発光ダイオード装置1においては、発光ダイオードチップ5から発せられた青色光の一部が光拡散層11によって凹部8の周辺部へと拡散されてから蛍光体層12に入射されるため、蛍光体層12に入射する青色光を比較的均一にすることができ、発光ダイオードチップ5の配光特性が狭い場合であっても色むらの発生を有効に抑制することができる。
As described above, in the light emitting
In the light emitting
具体的には、発光ダイオードチップ5の配光特性が狭い場合には、光拡散層11の面積(s)を広くすることが好ましい。発光ダイオードチップ5から放出される青色光の配光特性が狭い場合に光拡散層11の面積(s)を広くすることで、発光ダイオードチップ5から放出される青色光をこの光拡散層11によって凹部8の周辺部へと拡散させてから蛍光体層12に入射させることができ、発光ダイオード装置1における色むらの発生を抑制することができる。
Specifically, when the light distribution characteristic of the light-emitting
On the other hand, when the light distribution characteristics of the light-emitting
また、光拡散層11は、発光ダイオードチップ5から発せられた青色光の一部を適切に拡散させることができ、かつ、発光ダイオードチップ5から発せられた他の青色光を適切に透過させることができるよう、光拡散粒子の含有量を調整することが好ましい。このような光拡散層11における光拡散粒子の含有量としては、光拡散層11を構成する光拡散粒子および透明樹脂等の合計量100重量%中、光拡散粒子を3重量%以上、5重量%以下とすることが好ましい。
Further, the
さらに、光拡散層11は、発光ダイオードチップ5から発せられた青色光の一部を適切に拡散させることができ、かつ、発光ダイオードチップ5から発せられた他の青色光を適切に透過させることができるよう、厚さを調整することが好ましい。
Furthermore, the
図3は本発明の発光ダイオード装置1の第2の実施形態を示したものである。図2に示す発光ダイオード装置1は、蛍光体シート10を光拡散層11と蛍光体層12とからなるものとした点では第1の実施形態と同様であるが、その配置を逆にし、蛍光体層12を発光ダイオードチップ5側とした点で異なるものである。
FIG. 3 shows a second embodiment of the light-emitting
In such a light emitting
このような場合においても、第1の実施形態と同様、発光ダイオード装置1の色むらの抑制および発光輝度の向上の観点から、発光ダイオードチップ5の配光特性に合わせて光拡散層11の面積(s)が調整されていることが好ましい。また、光拡散層11における光拡散粒子の含有量や、光拡散層11の厚さについても第1の実施形態と同様に調整することが好ましい。
Even in such a case, as in the first embodiment, the area of the
図4は本発明の発光ダイオード装置1の第3の実施形態を示したものである。図4に示す発光ダイオード装置1は、蛍光体層12の両面にそれぞれ光拡散層11a、11bを設けた蛍光体シート10を用いた点で第1の実施形態および第2の実施形態と異なるものである。
FIG. 4 shows a third embodiment of the light-emitting
The role of the
The light diffusion layers 11a and 11b in the light emitting
The light emitting
また、別途、蛍光体シート10を製造する。蛍光体シート10が光拡散層11と蛍光体層12とからなるものの場合、例えば光拡散粒子と透明樹脂との混合物をトランスファー成型法等により成形することにより光拡散層11を得るとともに、別に蛍光体粒子と透明樹脂との混合物をトランスファー成型法等により成形することにより蛍光体層12を得、両者を貼り合わせることにより製造することができる。
Separately, the
また、例えば蛍光体粒子と透明樹脂との混合物をトランスファー成型法等により成形することにより蛍光体層12を得た後、光拡散粒子と透明樹脂とを混合したペースト状の混合物を蛍光体層12に塗布、硬化させることにより光拡散層11を形成し蛍光体シート10としてもよい。
Further, for example, after obtaining a
さらに、例えば蛍光体粒子および光拡散粒子を低粘度の透明樹脂に分散させた後、光拡散粒子が沈降して高密度化することを利用し、この光拡散粒子が高密度化した部分を光拡散層11とし、他の部分を蛍光体層12とすることにより一体成形した蛍光体シート10としてもよい。
Furthermore, for example, the phosphor particles and the light diffusing particles are dispersed in a low-viscosity transparent resin, and then the light diffusing particles are settled to increase the density. It is good also as the
また、蛍光体シート10が2層の光拡散層11a、11bと蛍光体層12とからなる場合は、上記したような製造方法を適宜選択して組み合わせて行うことにより製造することができる。
Moreover, when the
そして、このようにして製造された蛍光体シート10はその光拡散層11あるいは蛍光体層12を、図5に示されるものの透明層9あるいは凹部8の開口部周辺の凹部形成部材7に接着することにより、本発明の発光ダイオード装置1を製造することができる。蛍光体シート10の接着は、例えばシリコーン樹脂やエポキシ樹脂等を用いて行うことができる。
The
このような本発明の発光ダイオード装置1は、平面状に複数個を形成して発光ダイオードモジュールとしてもよい。図6は本発明の発光ダイオード装置1を利用した発光ダイオードモジュール20の一例を示した一部断面図である。
Such a light emitting
この発光ダイオードモジュール20では、複数の発光ダイオード装置1の各基板2が一体に連成されてなる一体基板となっている。基板2上には、電気絶縁層3を介して回路パターン4が配設されている。回路パターン4は各発光ダイオード装置3毎に、CuとNiの合金やAu等により、陰極側と陽極側の回路パターン(配線パターン)4a、4bに形成されており、この回路パターン4上に各発光ダイオード装置1毎に青色光を発光する発光ダイオードチップ5が搭載されている。
