Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a light emitting module including a light emitting element and a projection display device using the light emitting module.
Light emitting elements such as light emitting diodes (hereinafter referred to as “LEDs”) and semiconductor lasers are used as light sources for liquid crystal backlights, light sources for indicators, light sources for displays, light sources for reading sensors, and the like.
For example, Patent Document 1 proposes an LED light source unit that reduces illuminance unevenness by using a rod integrator. FIG. 9 shows a configuration diagram of the LED light source unit proposed in Patent Document 1. In FIG.
As shown in FIG. 9, the LED
However, in the LED
The present invention solves the above-described conventional problems, and provides a light emitting module that can reduce illuminance unevenness and can be easily miniaturized.
The light emitting module of the present invention includes a bottom portion provided with a concave portion having a slope extending toward the opening side, and a plurality of light emitting elements mounted on a wiring pattern formed on the bottom surface of the concave portion and accommodated in the concave portion. A light emitting module comprising:
Including a cylindrical portion provided in communication with the open end of the recess,
An inner surface of the cylindrical portion is a multiple reflection surface that multiple-reflects at least a part of light emitted from the light emitting element.
The projection display device of the present invention is a projection display device using the light emitting module of the present invention as a light source.
According to the light emitting module of the present invention, since the cylindrical portion for reducing the illuminance unevenness and the bottom portion on which the light emitting element is mounted are integrally configured, the illuminance unevenness can be reduced and downsizing is easy. A light emitting module can be provided. Moreover, according to the projection type display device of the present invention, since the light emitting module of the present invention is used as a light source, it is possible to provide a projection type display device that can reduce illuminance unevenness and can be easily miniaturized.
The light emitting module of the present invention includes a bottom portion provided with a concave portion having a slope extending toward the opening side, and a plurality of light emitting elements mounted on the wiring pattern formed on the bottom surface of the concave portion and accommodated in the concave portion. including.
Since the light emitting module of the present invention has the slope, the light emitted from the light emitting element can be reflected to the opening side of the recess. Thereby, the light extraction efficiency of the light emitting module can be improved. The material constituting the surface of the slope is preferably a metal having a high light reflectance such as aluminum. In order to further improve the light extraction efficiency of the light emitting module, it is preferable that an angle formed by the inclined surface of the concave portion and the bottom surface of the concave portion is 95 to 165 degrees. Note that the number of the light-emitting elements is not particularly limited, and may be set as appropriate according to a required light amount or the like. Further, the size of the recess is not particularly limited as long as a plurality of the light emitting elements can be accommodated.
Examples of the light-emitting element include a red LED that emits red light having a wavelength of 590 to 650 nm, a green LED that emits green light having a wavelength of 500 to 550 nm, and a blue LED that emits blue light having a wavelength of 450 to 500 nm. Can be used. As the red LED, for example, an LED using an AlInGaP-based material can be used. Moreover, as said green LED and said blue LED, LED using InGaAlN type material can be used, for example.
When the light-emitting module of the present invention is used as a white light source, the blue LED is used as the light-emitting element, and a phosphor layer that emits fluorescence by absorbing light emitted from the light-emitting element is used as the light-emitting element. What is necessary is just to form so that it may cover. For example, a phosphor that absorbs light emitted from the light emitting element and emits fluorescence is dispersed in a silicone resin to form a phosphor paste, and the phosphor paste is applied onto the light emitting element, and the phosphor layer May be formed. Examples of the phosphor include phosphors emitting green light, such as garnet structure system Y 3 (Al, Ga) 5 O 12 : Ce 3+ , silicate system (Ba, Sr) 2 SiO 4 : Eu 2+ , Sialon type Ca—Al—Si—O—N: Eu 2+ , silicate type (Sr, Ca) 2 SiO 4 : Eu 2+ , garnet structure type (Y, Gd) 3 Al 5 O 12 : Ce 3+ Phosphors emitting yellow light, nitridosilicate Sr 2 Si 5 N 8 : Eu 2+ , nitridoaluminosilicate CaAlSiN 3 : Eu 2+ , oxonitridoaluminosilicate Sr 2 Si 4 AlON 7 : Eu 2 + , Phosphors emitting red light such as sulfide-based CaS: Eu 2+ can be used.
And the light emitting module of this invention contains the cylindrical part provided in communication with the opening end of the said recessed part. The inner surface of the cylindrical portion is a multiple reflection surface that multiple-reflects at least a part of the light emitted from the light emitting element. As a result, at least a part of the light emitted from the light emitting element is repeatedly reflected on the inner surface (multiple reflection surface) of the cylindrical portion and then emitted to the outside, so that the illuminance unevenness of the extracted light is uneven. Can be reduced. In addition, according to the light emitting module of the present invention, since the cylindrical portion and the bottom portion are integrally configured, a light emitting module that can be easily reduced in size can be provided.
The inner surface of the cylindrical portion is preferably formed along a substantially normal direction of the bottom surface of the concave portion. This is because at least a part of the light emitted from the light emitting element can be efficiently multiple-reflected. In order to efficiently multiple-reflect at least a part of the light emitted from the light emitting element, a value obtained by dividing the axial length of the cylindrical portion by the inner diameter of the cylindrical portion is 1 or more. Preferably, it is 2 or more. In addition, when the said value is 4 or less, size reduction of a light emitting module becomes easier.
Moreover, it is preferable that the said inner surface of the said cylindrical part is a mirror surface which consists of metals, such as aluminum and gold | metal | money. This is because the light emitted from the light emitting element can be substantially regularly reflected, and thus the light can be reflected more efficiently. The “mirror surface” refers to a surface on which an object can be confirmed like a mirror when light incident on the surface is substantially specularly reflected.
The light emitting module of the present invention may include a first lens formed so as to cover an opening of the cylindrical portion opposite to the concave portion. This is because the light emitted from the light emitting element can be collected. In this case, the 2nd lens provided in the said cylindrical part may be further included. It is because it can condense more effectively. The first lens and the second lens are preferably convex lenses from the viewpoint of light collection performance. Moreover, as a constituent material of the first lens or the second lens, for example, a heat-resistant glass material such as borosilicate glass or quartz glass, or a heat-resistant resin material such as silicone resin or polycarbonate resin can be used.
The light emitting module of the present invention may include a sealing resin layer that seals the light emitting element and the wiring pattern. This is because deterioration in electrical connection reliability between the light emitting element and the wiring pattern can be prevented. In addition, as a constituent material of the sealing resin layer, for example, a resin that transmits visible light such as an epoxy resin or a silicone resin can be used.
When the light emitting module of the present invention includes the first lens and the sealing resin layer, the sealing resin layer may be filled in a space between the first lens and the recess. This is because the occurrence of condensation in the space can be prevented, so that deterioration in electrical connection reliability between the light emitting element and the wiring pattern can be effectively prevented. In this case, it is preferable that the first lens is made of the same material as the constituent material of the sealing resin layer. Since light emitted from the light emitting element does not cause refraction or reflection when passing through the interface between the sealing resin layer and the first lens, the light extraction efficiency of the light emitting module is improved. is there.
Moreover, when the light emitting module of this invention contains the said 1st lens, the inert gas may be enclosed with the space between the said 1st lens and the said recessed part. This is because the occurrence of dew condensation in the space can be prevented, so that deterioration in electrical connection reliability between the light emitting element and the wiring pattern can be prevented. As the inert gas, helium, nitrogen, argon or the like can be used.
Moreover, when the light emitting module of this invention contains the said 1st lens, the fluorescent substance may be disperse | distributed in the said 1st lens. According to this configuration, a function as a phosphor layer can be imparted to the first lens. Note that when the phosphor layer is provided so as to cover the light emitting element as described above, the constituent material of the phosphor layer may be deteriorated by heat generated from the light emitting element. As a result, there is a possibility that the light emission intensity of the light emitting module may be reduced due to a decrease in light transmittance of the phosphor layer. Therefore, when the first lens is provided with a function as a phosphor layer as in the above configuration, the first lens and the light emitting element are not in contact with each other, and therefore the first due to the heat generated from the light emitting element. Deterioration of the constituent material of one lens (that is, the phosphor layer) can be reduced. As the phosphor dispersed in the first lens, the same phosphor as described above can be used.
In addition, the light emitting module of the present invention may include a phosphor layer formed so as to cover an opening on the opposite side to the concave portion in the cylindrical portion. Since the phosphor layer is not in contact with the light-emitting element, this configuration can also reduce deterioration of the constituent material of the phosphor layer due to heat generated from the light-emitting element as described above. In this case, an inert gas may be sealed in a space between the phosphor layer and the recess. This is because the occurrence of dew condensation in the space can be prevented, so that deterioration in electrical connection reliability between the light emitting element and the wiring pattern can be prevented. Moreover, it is preferable that the phosphor layer is detachably provided. This is because when a defect occurs in the phosphor layer, repair (exchange) can be easily performed.
The light emitting module of the present invention may include a phosphor layer provided in the cylindrical portion. Also with this configuration, it is possible to reduce the deterioration of the constituent material of the phosphor layer due to the heat generated from the light emitting element as described above. This is because when a defect occurs in the phosphor layer, repair can be easily performed.
Moreover, the light emitting module of this invention WHEREIN: The said light emitting element may be arrange | positioned at the said bottom face of the said recessed part at an array form. When the light emitting module of the present invention is used as a light source for a projection display device, the screen size is changed by lighting a part (or all) of the plurality of light emitting elements according to the aspect ratio of the projected screen. This is because (for example, a change from a screen having an aspect ratio of 9:16 to a screen having an aspect ratio of 3: 4) is facilitated.
In addition, the light emitting module of the present invention may include a reflective member that is disposed between the light emitting elements and reflects light emitted from the light emitting elements toward the opening side of the recess. This is because the light extraction efficiency of the light emitting module can be improved. In addition, the base material of the said reflection member is not specifically limited, For example, what consists of ceramic materials, such as a silica, an alumina, and aluminum nitride, and what consists of metal materials, such as aluminum and copper, can be used. When using a ceramic material, the surface of the base material may be coated with a metal such as copper. This is because the light emitted from the light emitting element can be efficiently reflected.

In the drawings to be referred to, hatching may be omitted for easy understanding of the description. In the drawings to be referred to, components having substantially the same function are denoted by the same reference numerals, and redundant description may be omitted.

First, a light emitting module according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. 1A to be referred to is a cross-sectional view of the light emitting module according to the first embodiment, and FIG. 1B to be referred to is a schematic top view of the light emitting module according to the first embodiment. In FIG. 1B, the lens is not shown for easy understanding.
As shown in FIG. 1A, the light emitting module 1 according to the first embodiment is mounted on a
The
The
The
The light emitting module 1 may further include a sealing resin layer (not shown) that seals the

The
As shown in FIG. 1B, the
Next, a projection type display device using the light emitting module 1 according to the first embodiment as a light source will be described. FIG. 2 to be referred to is a configuration diagram of the projection display device.
As shown in FIG. 2, the
マイクロミラーアレイスイッチ24としては、例えばDMD(テキサス・インスツルメンツ社の商標)等が使用できる。
Further, the
According to the
The light emitting module 1 according to the first embodiment of the present invention and the
Moreover, as shown to FIG. 3A, it is good also as the light emitting module 30 using the
[Second Embodiment]
Next, a light emitting module according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 4A to be referred to is a cross-sectional view of the light emitting module according to the second embodiment.
As shown in FIG. 4A, the light emitting module 2 according to the second embodiment includes a
Next, a projection display apparatus using the light emitting module 2 according to the second embodiment as a light source will be described. FIG. 5 to be referred to is a configuration diagram of the projection display device.
As shown in FIG. 5, the projection display device 50 includes a light emitting module 2 according to the second embodiment, a

[Third Embodiment]
Next, a light emitting module according to a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 6 to be referred to is a cross-sectional view of the light emitting module according to the third embodiment.
As shown in FIG. 6, the
The
In the
Moreover, in the
[Fourth Embodiment]
Next, a light emitting module according to a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 7 to be referred to is a cross-sectional view of the light emitting module according to the fourth embodiment.
As shown in FIG. 7, in the
[Fifth Embodiment]
Next, a light emitting module according to a fifth embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the drawings. FIG. 8 to be referred to is a cross-sectional view of the light emitting module according to the fifth embodiment.
As shown in FIG. 8, the
The light emitting module of the present invention is useful as a light source for which miniaturization is required, for example, as a light source for a projection display device such as a light source for a rear projection television.
