Abstract
Description
According to the present invention, an optical print head having a plurality of light emitting elements arranged in the main scanning direction and a photosensitive material are relatively moved in a sub-scanning direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction, and gradation values of the light emitting elements are changed stepwise. To create a plurality of shade patches for each light emitting element formed on the photosensitive material, measure the density of each shade patch, and determine the brightness unevenness correction amount for each light emitting element. The present invention relates to a method and a luminance unevenness correction module.
As a light emitting element, a fluorescent light emitting element or an LED is well known. One of such light emitting elements may form one pixel constituting image data, that is, one exposure dot in an exposure image on a photosensitive material. it can. By arranging a plurality of such light emitting elements in the main scanning direction, a linear array type optical print head for forming an image on a photosensitive material can be configured. In order to form a color image, three such optical print heads are prepared, and R (red), G (green), and B (blue) light is radiated from each. The gradation value of each color (R, G, B) constituting the image data is converted into a luminance gradation value given to the light emitting element, and a drive signal adjusted based on this is given to the optical print head of each color. The light emitting element emits light with a desired amount of light, and an image corresponding to the image data is formed on the photosensitive material.
Kin(n)× Dmin /D(n)
In order to obtain a good image using such an optical print head, the luminance of all the light emitting elements is uniform when given the same luminance gradation value, that is, each light emitting element has the same density value. It is necessary to produce an exposure dot with a mark on the photosensitive material. For this reason, it is necessary to obtain a correction amount for correcting a difference in inherent light emission characteristics of each light emitting element, that is, so-called luminance unevenness. The correction amount of the brightness unevenness correction is calculated by a brightness unevenness correction operation called setup. In this setup, first, test exposure dots are formed by giving the same luminance gradation value to all the light emitting elements as a test print. From the measured density value of the test exposure dot, a correction coefficient for changing the luminance gradation value is calculated so that the density value of the test exposure dot created by each fluorescent light emitting element is aligned. This correction coefficient is stored in the correction table, and the exposure gradation value of the transmitted image data is corrected by this correction coefficient during actual printing, and the fluorescent light emitting element is driven with the corrected luminance gradation value. To do. An example of the simplest correction method will be described. The density value of each test exposure dot measured here is D (n) (where n represents the number of the fluorescent light emitting element, and n = 0, 1, 2,... ), And the minimum value of the measured density value is Dmin, the correction coefficient for each light emitting element can be Dmin / D (n). That is, if the luminance gradation value of the transmitted image data is Kin (n), the corrected luminance gradation value: Kout (n) for actually driving the corresponding light emitting element is
Kin (n) × Dmin / D (n)
It becomes. As a result, the luminance unevenness is corrected. Thus, in order to obtain an accurate correction coefficient for correcting luminance unevenness, it is necessary to accurately measure the density value of the test exposure dots formed by the test print. However, if the test exposure dot area to be measured happens to be affected by dust or dust that has been mixed in during scanning, the measured density value will be inaccurate. there were. In order to eliminate such inconvenience, a plurality of measured densities are obtained by measuring the density at a plurality of measurement points in the test exposure dot area to be measured, and attention is paid to the area where the measured density values are densely packed. It has been proposed to determine the representative density value based on the average of only the measured density values in the area (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
In the above-described density measurement according to Patent Document 1, it is possible to eliminate the influence of small dust or dust that covers a part of the test exposure dot area to be measured, but most of the test exposure dot area is removed. In the case of large dust or dust covering the measurement density values all become abnormal values, causing a problem that the test print is performed again.
In view of the above situation, an object of the present invention is to recover without reprinting even if an abnormal measured density value occurs due to disturbance factors such as dust and dust in density measurement on a test print for correcting brightness unevenness. To provide a density unevenness correction method and a density unevenness correction module.
The optical print head having a plurality of light emitting elements arranged in the main scanning direction and the photosensitive material are moved relative to each other in the sub scanning direction orthogonal to the main scanning direction, and the gradation value of the light emitting elements is changed stepwise. In the brightness unevenness correction method, a plurality of light and shade patches for each light emitting element formed on the photosensitive material are created, the density of each light and shade patch is measured, and the amount of correction for brightness unevenness correction for each light emitting element is determined. In the method according to the invention, the steps of obtaining a density value by measuring the density of each shade patch, obtaining the expected density value of each shade patch, and the measured density value and the expected density value for each shade patch, The measurement concentration value that exceeds the predetermined tolerance range is regarded as an erroneous measurement value, and the corresponding expected concentration value is regarded as the measurement concentration value here. Determining a correction amount of the luminance non-uniformity correction based on the gray patch by the measured density value group of each element is provided.
In the luminance unevenness correction method according to the present invention, as a luminance unevenness correction test print, a step of giving the same luminance gradation value to all the light emitting elements to form a test exposure dot array is sequentially performed while changing the value of the luminance gradation value. Thus, a plurality of light and dark patches indicating a plurality of density steps for all the light emitting elements are output. When the measured density value obtained by measuring the density patch is compared with the expected density value calculated and given in advance for the density patch, and the difference exceeds a predetermined allowable range, This measured density value is regarded as an erroneous measurement value affected by disturbances such as dust, and is replaced with an expected density value to create a density measurement group of a plurality of gray patches formed by this light emitting element. A plurality of gradation patches indicating a plurality of density steps are output by giving a plurality of luminance gradation values to one light emitting element, and a plurality of stepwise measured density values are measured by measuring the density of these gradation patches. Therefore, even if one measured density value is replaced with an expected density value, the light emitting element can form an image having sufficient image quality. In this way, the relationship between the luminance gradation value of each light emitting element and the measured density value is obtained using the measured density value excluding the erroneous measurement value, and the luminance gradation for all the light emitting elements finally obtained is obtained. Based on the relationship between the value and the measured density value (light emission characteristics), luminance unevenness correction over the entire light emitting element is performed. This eliminates the inconvenience of redoing the test print, that is, the output of the light and shade patch, each time an erroneous measurement value is included in one or more of the measured density values.
As one suitable method for obtaining the expected density value given to each density patch, the average value of the measured density values for each density patch formed by a predetermined number or more of light emitting elements is used as the expected density value of each density patch. It is proposed. The light emission characteristics of each light emitting element do not vary so much from the beginning, and the number of light emitting elements constituting the optical print head is large (for example, several thousand for photo prints). By taking the average of the measured density values, it is possible to obtain an expected density value that is sufficiently satisfactory even if erroneous measurement values are included therein. Here, the predetermined number or more must ensure that the reliability when the average value is the expected density value is sufficient. This can be confirmed in advance by experiments, but in general, sufficient reliability can be obtained even with odd-numbered light-emitting elements or even-numbered light-emitting elements. In addition, since the light emitting elements arranged in the central region are extremely frequently used, the measured density values of the light and dark patches by the light emitting elements arranged in the central region may be averaged. Of course, it is optimal to average the measured density values of the light and shade patches by all the light emitting elements, but considering the number of light emitting elements, an average value of about half of the measured density values is practically sufficient. In some cases, a sufficient number of 1 to 1/100 is sufficient.
As another preferred method for obtaining the expected density value given to each density patch, a regression curve is calculated from the measured density value of the density patch by each light emitting element, and each density patch is calculated based on this regression curve. It is proposed to calculate the expected concentration value of. If there are a large number of shade patches that are output by changing the brightness gradation value step by step, an accurate regression curve of brightness gradation value-measured density value is created from the measured density value of the shade patch for each light emitting element. can do. Therefore, it is also a preferred form to calculate an expected density value for each shade patch using this regression curve.
As another method for obtaining the expected density value to be given to each density patch, the above-mentioned density values common to all light emitting elements based on a gradation value-density value curve prepared in advance for each type of photosensitive material used. It has also been proposed to calculate the expected density value of the patch. Since it is known experimentally or empirically that the type of photosensitive material to be used has the greatest influence on the shape of the gradation value-density value curve, a test print should be prepared for each type of photosensitive material in advance. The gradation value-density value curve determined by doing can be used as a base of the expected density value at the time of the brightness unevenness correction work every time. As a result, the reliability is lower than that of the above-described method for calculating the expected density, but the calculation load required for each correction of luminance unevenness is reduced by preliminarily tabulating the gradation value-density value curve. There is an advantage.

Here, the

The test print

The luminance unevenness
この実施形態では、予想濃度値算定部52は、図6で模式的に図解説明しているように、7つの濃淡パッチ毎に全ての発光素子21の測定濃度値の平均をとって得られた各濃淡パッチのための平均測定濃度値を予想濃度値とする。測定濃度値評価部53は、図7で模式的に図解説明しているように、各濃淡パッチの測定濃度値:Dとその濃淡パッチに与えられた予想濃度値:Sの差異が閾値内に入っているかどうかをまず判定する。閾値をδとすれば、ここで用いられている判定条件は以下の通りである;
−δ<((D−S)/S)<δ
In this embodiment, the expected density
−δ <((D−S) / S) <δ
The measured density
Next, a typical flow of luminance unevenness correction processing in this digital optical printer will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG.
First, test print image data is read from the test print
The measured density
