Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a high efficiency amplifier used for broadcasting and communication.
Broadcasting and communication RF amplifiers are desired to amplify RF signals linearly with high efficiency. However, in general, in an amplifier, increasing efficiency and increasing linearity are not compatible. The efficiency of the amplifier increases as the power level of the input signal increases, and exhibits a characteristic that the maximum efficiency is reached when the amplifier reaches saturation. In recent years, when a modulated wave having a large PAPR (Peak to Average Power Ratio) used in broadcasting and mobile communications is used as an input signal, clipping of the signal waveform due to amplifier saturation occurs at an operating point near the saturation point. As a result, the linearity is greatly degraded.
For this reason, in general, RF amplifiers for broadcasting and communication are used at an operation level with a large output back-off from the saturation point, and it is important to improve efficiency at an operation level with a large output back-off from the saturation point. Become. On the other hand, a Doherty amplifier has been reported as an effective method for increasing the efficiency at an operation level in which the output back-off from the saturation point is greatly increased.
For example, FIG. 3 is a diagram showing a configuration of a Doherty amplifier as a conventional high-efficiency amplifier shown in
In FIG. 3, when the level of the input signal is small, the

Here, in the high efficiency amplifier, when the load impedance of the
In the Doherty amplifier as a conventional high-efficiency amplifier, the output of the
The conventional high-efficiency amplifier is configured as described above, and uses 90 °
The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems. It is an object of the present invention to obtain a high-efficiency amplifier capable of realizing high efficiency without generating a combination loss when the output signals of both paths are combined. Objective.
A high efficiency amplifier according to the present invention includes an input distribution circuit that distributes an input signal to first and second paths, a carrier amplifier connected to the first path, and an impedance conversion line having an electrical length of 90 °. A phase line and a peak amplifier connected to the second path, and an impedance conversion circuit connected to an output combining point of the first and second paths, wherein the electrical length of the phase line is the carrier The sum of the electrical length of the amplifier and the electrical length of the impedance conversion line is set so that the sum of the electrical length of the phase line and the electrical length of the peak amplifier matches.
According to the present invention, when the level of the input signal is large, there is an effect that high efficiency can be realized without generating a combining loss when the output signals of both paths are combined.
