Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a non-destructive measurement technique for a subject using an energy ray source of electromagnetic waves and radiation, and more specifically, a line sensor for detecting an energy ray transmitted through the subject, a line sensor unit, and a radiation non-destructive using the same. It relates to the inspection system.
When radiation such as X-rays, γ-rays or neutrons passes through the subject, absorption and scattering differ depending on the type and shape of the constituent material. If this is recorded as an image as a photograph, video, digital file or the like, the damage state, change, filling state, etc. of the subject can be grasped. This is the same principle as in general examining the internal state of a human body with a radiograph. Such a method of measuring the internal state with radiation without destroying the object or sample to be examined is called radiography or non-destructive radiography.
Usually, in radiography, a radiation image sensor including a line type sensor (referred to as a line sensor) that is a one-dimensional image sensor or an area type sensor (referred to as an area sensor) that is a two-dimensional image sensor is used. The line sensor has a high resolution and is used for medical diagnosis and industrial nondestructive inspection. This line sensor includes a scintillator arranged in a linear shape or a band shape (hereinafter referred to as a line shape) sensitive to radiation, and measures defects and foreign matters inside the subject passing between the radiation sources. For this reason, such an image sensor is often used by being incorporated in an in-line inspection apparatus in a factory where the inspection substance always flows.
In contrast, an area sensor generally does not have a high resolution like a line sensor, but has a higher sensitivity than a line sensor. In particular, the X-ray image intensifier (referred to as X-ray II) is extremely sensitive. For this reason, such an area sensor is suitable for nondestructive inspection in which it is essential to reduce exposure.
As described above, the line sensor has high resolution, but it is difficult to achieve high sensitivity like the area sensor. The resolution of the line sensor can be easily improved by arranging optical sensors that receive flash light (scintillation light) emitted from scintillators arranged in a line at high density in a line. However, on the other hand, since the scintillator is in the above-described line shape, the region irradiated with X-rays or γ-rays is narrower than that in the case of the area sensor, and the sensitivity is necessarily lowered. When the photon energy of X-rays or γ-rays increases, the reaction efficiency with the scintillator decreases as the photon energy increases, and the above-described decrease in sensitivity becomes more significant.
In addition, since the technique of performing color discrimination using a plurality of types of radiation and performing non-destructive inspection (see, for example, Patent Document 1) has low sensitivity as described above, it is difficult to use the color discrimination technique in a line sensor. .
In order to improve the sensitivity, it is conceivable to widen the region where the radiation reacts with the scintillator. However, if the reaction region is widened, the position resolution of the measurement deteriorates as the reaction region becomes larger. In this case, it is difficult to improve both sensitivity and resolution, and one of them must be sacrificed.
上記X線I.I. Therefore, as a first method for improving sensitivity without sacrificing resolution, a method of electronic amplification after conversion to an electrical signal such as an optical sensor without widening the reaction region of the scintillator, that is, the light emitting region, has been conventionally devised and used. ing. X-ray I. The electronic amplification function is built into the image sensor.
そして、その第2の方法として、シンチレータで発光する微量の光子を検知できる光センサとして、例えば電荷結合素子から成るCCD(Charge Coupled Device)センサ、CMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor)センサ、TFT(Thin Film Transistor)型センサのような半導体受光素子を使用するものがある。 As a second method, as a photosensor capable of detecting a small amount of photons emitted by a scintillator, for example, a charge coupled device (CCD) sensor, a complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) sensor, a thin film TFT (Thin Film) Some devices use semiconductor light-receiving elements such as transistor type sensors.
However, the first method for improving the sensitivity inevitably increases the size and weight of the line sensor or radiation detection apparatus. For this reason, this method has a big problem that it is difficult to reduce the size of the radiation nondestructive inspection system including the method.
The second method has a problem in reliability of the line sensor or the radiation non-destructive inspection system including the same because the radiation resistance of the semiconductor element constituting the light receiving element is extremely low.
In the third method, an indirect operation such as development or reading of a film or sheet recorded as a color center, for example, on a film or sheet generated by ionization of radiation such as a photostimulable fluorescent sheet is required. For this reason, this method has a serious problem in real time.
The present invention has been made in view of the above prior art, and is a line sensor, a line sensor unit, and non-destructive radiation that is highly sensitive, easy to miniaturize, and has very little damage caused by electromagnetic waves transmitted through a subject, radiation. The line sensor unit according to the present invention is a one-dimensional radiation detector that detects electromagnetic waves or radiation that has passed through a subject. An optical element that is arranged in the direction of bending from the direction of incidence on the light and transmits the emitted light from the scintillator, and is arranged in the direction of bending and receives the emitted light transmitted by the optical element and converts it into an electrical signal A shielding body having an opening in a region where the electromagnetic wave or radiation is incident on the scintillator is provided so as to cover the optical element and the two-dimensional light receiving element.
The radiation nondestructive inspection system according to the present invention includes a radiation source that irradiates the subject with electromagnetic waves or radiation, and a one-dimensional radiation detector that detects the electromagnetic waves or radiation transmitted through the subject. According to the present invention, it is possible to realize a line sensor, a line sensor unit, and a high-resolution radiation non-destructive inspection system that are highly sensitive, easy to miniaturize, and extremely less damaged by electromagnetic waves and radiation that pass through the subject.
Several preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. Here, the same or similar parts are denoted by common reference numerals, and redundant description is omitted.
(Embodiment 1)
A line sensor according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described first with reference to FIG. FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram of an example of a line sensor and a line sensor unit. Here, FIG. 1A is a side sectional view thereof, and FIG. 1B is a front view thereof.
1A and 1B, the line sensor includes, as a basic configuration, a
The (transmission)
The line sensor having the above structure is covered with a shield 6 having a slit-like opening 5 through which the
A
Details including the operation mechanism of the line sensor or line sensor unit will be described with reference to FIGS. FIG. 2 is a perspective view for illustrating an operation mechanism of the line sensor. FIG. 3 is a perspective view of a preferred scintillator. FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing an operation mechanism of the
As shown in FIG. 2, the
While the
I=I0exp(−μρt) (1) I = I 0 exp (−μρt) (1)
Here, I 0 is the radiation intensity before entering the
Based on the above equation (1), the size of the
By doing in this way, the two-dimensional surface of the
Here, as will be described later, the
Further, the above-described scintillation light 11b not emitted in the direction of the surface of the two-dimensional
As shown in FIG. 3, the
Scintillation light is emitted from the
FIG. 3B schematically illustrates a scintillator having a thin plate structure. As such a scintillator, for example, a plastic scintillator and a ceramic scintillator having relatively high transparency are suitable. Here, the thin plate scintillators are bundled in a laminated structure in the X-axis direction. For this reason, the
In this way, the two-dimensional surface of the
The
As shown in FIG. 4, the
As described above, the electrical signal generated by the photoelectric conversion of the
The two-dimensional
The
The charges generated by the two-dimensional
Specifically, when a 1024 × 512 channel two-dimensional CMOS sensor is used for the two-dimensional
As described above, the two-dimensional
As shown in FIG. 6, there are various other modified examples of how the electric signals in the two-dimensional
In Figure 6, the two-dimensional
Here, when the energy of the
In this way, the range of sensitivity of the line sensor can be freely changed by the subject. For example, when the energy of the
Here, the range to be integrated is not limited to the above three types, and may be configured to be two types or four or more types.
As described above, in the first embodiment, the line sensor or the
With such a configuration, the scintillation light emitted from the
Furthermore, the
In the above embodiment, the
(Embodiment 2)
Next, a second embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. A feature of this embodiment is that, in an optical element having a structure in which a large number of optical fibers are bundled, the cross-sectional area on the entrance side of the light emitted from the scintillator is larger than the cross-sectional area on the exit side. Such a structure of the line sensor is effectively applied when the area of the scintillator is larger than the area of the two-dimensional light receiving element. Here, FIG. 7 is a side view of a line sensor having such an optical element.
As shown in FIG. 7, the line sensor includes a
Here, as described in the first embodiment, the
Since such a tapered
(Embodiment 3)
Next, a third embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. The feature of this embodiment is that the scintillation light is color discriminated using a color filter, and the dynamic range in the radiation measurement of the line sensor is expanded. With such a line sensor structure, the two-dimensional
As shown in FIG. 8, the line sensor includes a
Here, in FIG. 8A, the
For example, it is assumed that the
Here, it is preferable that a predetermined amount of a red light emitting fluorescent material, a green light emitting fluorescent material or a blue light emitting fluorescent material is added to the
Although FIG. 8 illustrates an example in which the color filter is attached to three locations, a configuration in which the color filter is attached to more locations may be employed. Further, two or one color filters selected from the three primary colors of red (R), green (G), and blue (B) may be attached.
(Embodiment 4)
Next, a fourth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. The feature of this embodiment is that the scintillator is tapered in the incident direction of the
As shown in FIGS. 9A and 9B, the line sensor has a
Here, in FIG. 9B, the
By using the tapered scintillator in this way, the reaction efficiency between the
(Embodiment 5)
Next, a fifth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. The feature of this embodiment resides in that the sensitivity and resolution of radiation imaging are improved by simultaneously detecting a plurality of types of radiation transmitted through the subject. FIG. 10 is a side view of such a licensor.
As shown in FIG. 10, the licensor has a
Here, a case where neutron rays and X-rays or γ rays are used as a plurality of radiations will be described as an example. The
As the
In this way, for example, X-rays or γ-rays that penetrate a substance well, and lighter materials are more likely to penetrate, but it is difficult to inspect a light element such as hydrogen in a subject. By using simultaneously, it becomes possible to detect such a light element. In addition, in the case of X-rays or γ-rays, it is difficult to identify a minute difference in the case of elements having adjacent atomic numbers such as boron (B) and carbon (C). However, these elements can be identified by using a neutron beam together. And in the radiological imaging of the subject in which different substance elements are mixed, it becomes possible to increase the resolution and improve the sensitivity.
In the fifth embodiment, the scintillators to be configured are not limited to the
In the above embodiment, a color discrimination method as described in the third or fourth embodiment may be applied, and a color filter may be attached to a required location as described in FIG. For example, a green or blue filter is attached to the surface of the
When the above color discrimination method is used, a blue light emitting fluorescent material is added to the
(Embodiment 6)
Next, a sixth embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. In this embodiment, a radiation nondestructive inspection system configured using the above-described line sensor or line sensor unit is shown. Here, FIG. 11 is a schematic configuration diagram of the radiation nondestructive inspection system.
As shown in FIG. 11, the radiation nondestructive inspection system includes a
The
The one-
The signal /
The
In the radiation nondestructive inspection system, a line sensor as a component of the radiation non-destructive inspection system efficiently separates and measures signals when the radiation range is long or when the radiation type is different in the reaction between the scintillator and the radiation. In addition, the same radiation can be measured simultaneously with different energy differences.
The measurement sensitivity of the radiation nondestructive inspection system can be greatly improved by integrating the signals from the pixels of the two-dimensional array of CCD or CMOS elements in the radiation incident direction as described above. Therefore, this radiation nondestructive inspection system does not require an electronic amplification mechanism such as an image intensifier, and its size and weight can be easily reduced. For example, it can be used as a nondestructive inspection system in a wide range of fields such as CT using X-rays, food inspection, and baggage inspection.
Further, damage to the line sensor or the like due to electromagnetic waves or radiation transmitted through the subject is greatly reduced, and noise generated by radiation irradiation is reduced. For this reason, a highly reliable radiation nondestructive inspection system can be realized.
In the above embodiment, the case where the subject 17 is fixed and the
The present invention is not limited to the embodiment described above, and various modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention. For example, a configuration of a line sensor or a line sensor unit in which the features described in the first to fifth embodiments are arbitrarily combined may be used. In the above embodiment, the case of an image sensor using radiation such as X-rays, γ-rays or neutrons is mainly described. However, the present invention can be similarly applied to a one-dimensional image sensor using ultraviolet rays or low-frequency electromagnetic waves.
