Abstract
【解決手段】セラミックスからなる多孔質の隔壁により区画された複数のセルを有するハニカム状基材2の外周部を所定形状に加工し、最外周に位置する隔壁5の外周に露出している側の面に、コート材形成用スラリーを塗布して加熱乾燥させることによって、外周がコート材3により被覆されたハニカム構造体1を製造する方法であって、前記コート材形成用スラリーが粒度15〜75μmのセルベンを含み、当該スラリーの水分含有量が26〜34質量%であるハニカム構造体の製造方法。

Description
液垂れ(塗布したコート材形成用スラリーの垂れ)がないものを「○」、液垂れがあるが修正が可能なレベルであるものを「△」、液垂れがあり、外径寸法が小さくなるものを「×」とした。
乾燥後のコート材を観察し、ヘヤークラック(コート材表面の浅く細かい割れ)が全く無いもの、又は数本レベルで発生していたものを「○」、ヘヤークラックが十数本レベルで発生していたものを「△」、コート材を貫通するクラックが発生していたものを「×」とした。
乾燥後のコート材を観察し、表面が平滑であるものを「○」、表面に凹凸があるが傷等はないものを「△」、表面に凹凸に加えキズ等もあるものを「×」とした。
ハニカム構造体を飴ゴムで被覆し、水圧による当方加圧を印加して破壊圧力を測定し、それをアイソスタティック破壊強度とした。
所定温度の電気炉中にハニカム構造体を挿入し、30分間加熱した後、取り出して室温中に放置する。こうしてハニカム構造体を冷却した後、コート材の表面を観察し、コート材を貫通するクラックがあるかどうか調べる。このような試験を、電気炉での加熱温度を徐々に高めながら繰り返し実施し、クラックの発生が確認されたときの前記加熱温度で耐熱衝撃性を評価した。
Claims (5)
- セラミックスからなる多孔質の隔壁により区画された複数のセルを有するハニカム状基材の外周部を所定形状に加工し、最外周に位置する隔壁の外周に露出している側の面に、コート材形成用スラリーを塗布して加熱乾燥させることによって、外周がコート材により被覆されたハニカム構造体を製造する方法であって、
前記コート材形成用スラリーが粒度15〜75μmのセルベンを含み、当該スラリーの水分含有量が26〜34質量%であるハニカム構造体の製造方法。 - 前記加熱乾燥が熱風乾燥によってなされる請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
- 前記加熱乾燥が遠赤外線乾燥によってなされる請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
- 前記加熱乾燥が遠赤外線乾燥と熱風乾燥との併用によってなされる請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体の製造方法。
- セラミックスからなる多孔質の隔壁により区画された複数のセルを有するハニカム状基材の外周部を所定形状に加工し、最外周に位置する隔壁の外周に露出している側の面をコート材により被覆してなるハニカム構造体であって、
前記最外周に位置する隔壁のコート材により被覆されている側の面の気孔率Aと、同隔壁のセル内に露出している側の面の気孔率Bとの比(A/B×100(%))が、97〜50%であるハニカム構造体。
